We had dinner at The Bistro 112 for my birthday and it was a wonderful experience. The service was impeccable. Our waitress was spot on with suggestions and being attentive to our needs. The food was phenomenal and they even placed a candle in my birthday cake, which was on the house. They truly made my birthday a special occasion all the way around!
Excellent food - good ingredients well prepared. Paid attention to my wife's allergy listed in the booking and held back some ingredients on some of the menu selections so that she had a wider choice from the menu which was much appreciated.
Petty and negative experience at this previously very hospitable spot. I willingly paid the $10 upcharge for adding shrimp to my salad — a little pricey but that’s okay. Turns out, that bought you just 3 average-size shrimp! Bad enough to be scammed at a place where you will easily spend $125 for two, but when I very politely suggested that perhaps there had been a mistake and questioned the price, she just cited “policy.” Then she offered to get a manager but never did. We did see her speak to the manager and the manager simply shrugged. I’m shrugging too, wondering why they didn’t grab my salad, toss on a couple more shrimp, and keep a customer? This was my 4th time there and now my last.
There's something special about having a really charming restaurant close to home, where every meal is wonderfully prepared and all the staff and servers feel like old friends. Soups are always outstanding, as are the various specials. But our old bistro favorites are, well, old favorites. It's often difficult to choose between a dish one especially enjoys -- and anticipates in advance of walking through the doorway -- and trying a special new dish. The wine list is about the most reasonable around, and while we generally stick with a glass or bottle of wine, we have been known to sip a nicely crafted cocktail on occasion. Truly a great value, whether at lunch or dinner, and one of several restaurants which make Shepherdstown a delightful, low-key dining destination.
The food was exquisitely perfect!
The dessert was a home made orange cake
The entree was beyond awesome!
A Salmon dish cooked with a lemon butter sauced prepared so divinely I can not describe what I ate! Just Order and see for yourself!
The house salad was the most unusual blend
Of greens, dressing, Parmesan cheese and walnuts, I would love to duplicate it at home but sadly I know it can not be reproduced.
I will have to have dinner again at this restaurant soon!
We had a great evening the food was delicious the service was perfect. There was attention to detail in all areas. We will frequent this venue.
Everything was delicious and really authentically French. I will recommend this restaurant to anyone going to Shepherdstown or Harper's Ferry.
We've been to Bistro 112 many times and it never fails to please. The atmosphere is comfortable with a casual elegance. The service is excellent and the food is always spot on. The bread is warm, delicious French bread - and could make a meal itself. We last went there just a few days ago for our anniversary and had a lovely, memorable time.
We loved the atmosphere and the food was delicious. Can’t wait to come back for another date night.
the staff was especially kind and helpful and we had a delightful lunch.
French bistros must have good pate and good bread and Bistro 112
has both so that’s a great beginning. We can recommend the fixed price dinner as a great value. There are reasonably priced wines. Service very attentive so Bistro 112 is highly recommended.
Excellent French restaurant in Shepherdstown, WV. We were in town for a theater festival and decided to try this place. We were pleased. The restaurant is in an old, remodeled, brick building on a historic street in downtown Shepherdstown.
Try the mussels. Coffee was fresh and hot. Fresh made desserts. Quintessential French cuisine. Excellent service. Will be back again. Lucky to have such a gem in our backyard.
It is the finest dining in Shepardstown or anywhere else.
Delicious food that is well served. Excellent Fritos!
Great Food, atmosphere is lovely, friendly service. Love this place
Fabulous dinner. Four of us ordered the same prix fixed dinner options, salad, steak with peppercorn sauce and French fries plus the dessert dujour. Everything was fresh and delicious. We all agreed that our meat was perfectly cooked.
The menu was creative - -spiced sweet potato soup and a superior light and sophisticated orange Grand Marnier cake, the service attentive and the owner charming as she greeted guests and kept her eyes every detail. I'm looking forward to returning.
I don't have anything horrible to say but nothing great either. The service was on point. The food was good but not great. The price I paid for the meal, I was expecting more. I had the Steak entree and it just came with string fries. Steak was already cut into pieces which ok I guess, but some were tender and some were tough. The best part of the meal was the French onion soup it's outstanding.
We stop at Bistro 112 every time we go to Shepherdstown. As always, the service has always been great and the food was well worth the drive from Baltimore.
Keep it up. We look forward to a meal on our next trip.
The food was very good and the service was also good considering how busy they were. The menu is quite limited. Would highly recommend both the duck and the steak. Would not recommend the cheese plate appetizer. There was nothing wrong with it but it was very unexciting. I would go back.
Great space Great Food in a most unexpected place. Thanks for a great meal
Very intimate and relaxed atmosphere with attentive, kind service. Small, reasonably priced menu with nice wine selection. Food was enjoyable and tasty.
Have been here many times in the past and this was the least favorite of our visits. I had a salad that was really delicious, but my partner's dinner not tasty at all. Truly superb, friendly staff - overall a "fine" dinner, but not as good as it's been before. Am sure we'll go again!!
We make a point of going to Bistro 112 each time we are in Shepherdstown, usually for the theater festival. I has been consistently outstanding in every way over the past many years!
The staff was incredible helpful and understanding of the fact that several Shepherd alumni were getting together after almost 45 years. They allowed us to visit even though they were very busy. The food was good, and the service and ambiance perfect for our gathering!
Nice, lighter fare for an early summer dinner: Pate and charcuterie; wonderful bread, fresh salads with well-prepares tuna, and mussels. Served with a good Languedoc wine. The server seemed to remember us from a year earlier. Pleasant.
Always love to dine here during CATF but this time the service was sweet but apps missing. Expected a little more detail attention, accommodations for handicapped and warmer even hot food. Slipping a bit from past delights!
Many thanks for the comp birthday dessert !
We look forward to dining at Studio 112 every July when we come to the CATF. A superb restaurant. Don’t miss Shannon’s orange cake.
Truly one of my favorite restaurants anywhere. We come from Ohio to attend the Contemporary American Theater Festival every few years, and this is a memorable draw that helps make the trip worthwhile. My friend ordered mussels and they were the largest, most succulent I have ever seen, swimming in a luscious pool of melted butter. A drink at the bar or meal is a perfect way to be transported to another place before, between or after theater. Friendly, well-trained staff, uncompromisingly great food and a cozy, tasteful, kicky dining area make this a must. We get reservations well in advance.
We were in town for the annual theater festival. You’d think the folks at Bistro and all the restaurants in Shepherdstown would be prepared with adequate staff and menu selections that assure prompt, efficient service as well as quality, delicious meals. Bistro delivered on the latter but was woefully inadequate on the former. We were in the restaurant almost about 45 minutes before being served. While the meal was good, our anxiety about getting out of the restaurant in time to make the play ruined what should have been a totally enjoyable evening.
This restaurant was very accommodating when I asked to have a bottle of chilled champagne before dinner. The champagne was there in the middle of the table with flutes all around. The menu looked great, but I ordered soup and a beet salad. The soup was almost too salty to eat and the walnuts in the salad had that unpleasant taste which nuts get when they have been in a cellophane bag too long. The ambiance was very nice and our server was lovely. We were seated on the second floor, which necessitated climbing many steps and we were not warned about this nor asked if it would be okay. Stairs are difficult for me but I did manage all right.
We always have a lovely experience here. Enchanting ambience for both inside and for outdoor dining. This foodie is ready to return!
We wanted to go slow to enjoy our meal and our time together, but then things went too slow. Our server was not being attentive, and we had to rush towards the end in order to make it to a play that evening. The salad was amazing! The salmon and potatoes left a lot to be desired. We enjoyed Cava and the house red was very good! They gave us the Cava for free since we were celebrating our marriage that happened only a few days prior. The seasonal orange cake for dessert was very good! We cannot wait to try this place again for lunch! There is another salad that sounds amazing to try!
Always an extremely pleasant experience dining at Bistro 112. We make a point to bring "out-of-town" guests in on a Friday or Saturday afternoon for brunch. We have made it a point to visit almost every Friday that we can. Menu has a nice range of lunchtime options, very reasonable wine selections. Background music is always subtle; sometimes French, sometimes jazz legends, always appropriate. Service is truly outstanding. Everyone at Bistro clearly has a guest's interests at heart: friendly and welcoming, helpful with suggestions, and always ready with a smile and genuine graciousness. It's been great fun getting to know many of the folks at Bistro -- which helps reinforce its place as a neighborhood gem.
We had a great dinner to celebrate our anniversary. The service was great, love the bright and artful decor in the historical building, and the food was delicious. Highly recommend this quaint bistro and will definitely return the next time we are near Shepardstown.
This french bistro was very good. The kale soup was to die for, I got a second bowl instead of dessert. The salad was good, walnuts were interesting. The steak frites was good, the fries could be upgraded. The dessert was very good. Overall A.
Great food. Drove 110 miles to eat there and well worth the drive.
One of the best French meals you can have anywhere in the world. Bistro 112 is just as good as any restaurant you find in Paris. I Love this place and we go anytime we are in town. They are very accommodating to my vegan needs as well as satisfying my boyfriend's carnivore side. From a romantic dinner to a family dinner, the staff and food always makes every experience amazing.
Wonderful food and experience. Worth coming to! Recommend a reservation because it’s a quaint small seating area and you’ll want to make sure you can get a table.
