This is a culinary school and this was my second visit and the food was as good as the first time around! All three of us enjoyed the tomato salad and the salmon. As for the cost - you just can't beat three courses for $15! I am looking forward to returning when the menu changes.
The appetizer, entree, and dessert were absolutely delicious and the portions were just right for lunch. I like the fact that they use seasonal vegetables and fruits for their meals. Will definitely come back.
A must visit. Great prices, gourmet food. Do not miss a visit to Bistro 10 UN. We go all the time for lunch.
Food cooked by the students of this culinary school! We were so impressed and enjoyed all our courses - 3 for $15!! Unbelievable value for the money and we were more than happy with our soup, salad, mahi mahi, pork and desserts that my friend and I had for lunch. It's like a little secret by the Civic Centre that we have now discovered and will definitely re-visit! Will definitely be going back soon!
Hidden above the bustle of market st and in plaza sits this gem of a culinary treat where students make delicious meals. The food was beautifully presented, fresh and delicious. A three course meal for a a nominal $15 with tips going toward student scholarships. What a lovely experience!
I only ate here twice at lunch during the work week, so I don't know about dinner meals. The price is reasonable. The salmon dish was great. Vegetables always cooked just right. The chocolate mousse for dessert was delightful. Go with a group but not more than four. You will need reservations which are convenient on line. The only unpleasantness is right outside the building entrance the neighborhood, "bums" are allowed to congregate and could harass you, so be wise and vigilant. So, I don't know what the area is like at night. The convenience of the location-right near BART, bus, and trolly at UN Civic Center, so this place is very accessible.
In the five days we spent in San Fran this was by far the best and cheapest meal we had. Other restaurants we ate at, even those recommended on Trip Adviser, were disappointing. We would certainly recommend this little training restaurant to anyone staying in or near Market Street.
Quality ingredients, local and organic, paired with excellent cooking skills, The prize is unbelievably affordable. Keep up with your superb work. I am sure that your students will become great chefs.
This gem of a restaurant is steps away from Asian Art Museum and Davies Hall. Plan on lunch when you have events to attend there as long as it is during the matinee hours. The price is unheard of for a delicious above average 3 course lunch served in such a refine and leisurely manner.
Rich and dark coffee!
This is a well run restaurant by students and a good value!
This was my 4th time coming to Bistro 10UN. The food has been consistently delicious. I have introduced three people to them and they have all been very favorably impressed by the food quality and value. They all promised to patronize Bistro 10UN in the future and to introduce it to others. I would recommend them without reservation, though I do recommend you make one to come here for lunch!
It's my 4th time at Bistro 10UN and each time I've invited different colleagues. Everyone loves the food, service and ambience. There's talk of having our Christmas Holiday Luncheon there.
My co-worker introduced me to 10UN Bistro. And I've been bringing friends ever since. I want them to experience the excellent food, and service of our future restaurateurs and chefs.
I brought some of my coworkers and they love this place too. They loved the Arnold Palmer, the Vietnamese Salad, the Grilled Hanger Steak, the Scottish Salmon, the Chocolate Mousse. We could actually carry on a pleasant conversation during our meal because of the sound proofing on the wall tempering the noise outside. The servers were very nice.
Where else can you go for a gourmet $15 three-course meal with entrees like salmon from Scotland! = )
I love Bistro 10UN and go there quite often for lunch. They are now open 4 days a week for lunch as opposed to the 2 days a week they had been for the last couple years. The price for a 3 course meal is extremely reasonable and the food is quite good.
A great find and I just love that it is a student run restuarant
I would definetly consider this my place to come to for lunch when I visit San Fran. I was impressed with the service we received, the food was great. I never expected salmon to taste as good as mine did. I loved the risotto, and the ice-tea was probably the best I have ever had.
I love that this is a student run restaurant and still is great food and service. I wish it was open for dinner but now that Bistro 10UN is open 2 more days- from Tuesday -Friday - we can enjoy it more. The pea soup appetizer was really great. My entree of salmon was cooked perfectly and service was efficient and prompt.
Food was excellent. I like the grilled shrimp dish. the presentation was bright and colorful and the taste is exceptional. the best price performance lunch I had.
Training for Art Institute Culinary Academy. Food is excellent. Students staff both the front and the back of the house. Tips are pooled go to scholarships for students. Always enjoy talking to the students about their experience and future work.
Training ground for Culinary students. All tips go to scholarships for the students. Excellent food. Students staff both front and back. Great to talk to the 'kids' about their studies and their futures.
The sausage fennel dish was mediocre at best. There was a real disconnect between the mint sauce and the spices in the meat , and I like to experiment.this was not good. The pork ossobucco appeared and tasted like the forgot to braise it. Tender but not very flavourful and not appealing to the eye. The unside down cake was heavy, tasted like it had been in the fridge.
The back of the red banquette near the window had an inch of dust on the top...very un appealing.
Our server was great as was the host.
We have been to a number of theses schools in different countries and they were a plus. This experience gets a c.
Bistro 10 UN is a showcase for the Culinary Arts students of the Art Institute University San Francisco. The students prepare the meals and also function as waiter persons. The experience was throroughly enjoyable. The food was delicious, highlighting a variety of starters, entres and desserts. We had the winter squash risotto, arugula salad with citrus and candied pecans to start and the roasted chicken and local fish for entrees. They were both delicious, had great sides and the portions were more than adequate. It was a relaxed and quiet experience, since the tables are nicely spaced. Dessert was a delicious chocolate orange cake I sampled, but took with me to enjoy later. I plan to return soon and introduce others to this gem.
My second visit to Bistro--much busier this time. Could tell that they were
running short of staff as a group of students graduated earlier in the week. Still a great food experience(flat iron steak) especially given the price. Plan to go back again ,but will try to avoid a holiday time frame.
Hidden gem and bargain in the Civic Center area. I keep coming back.
It's only open 4 1/2 hours/week, but it's a hidden gem if you can make it there when it's open. I love introducing people to it -- They always thank me and can't wait to take others there, too. Look forward to the time when they're open more days.
Menu keeps getting better and better, and changes seasonally... Great value for money too - a real gem in the heart of the Tenderloin!!
I had a delicious clam chowder and the salmon main course and the almond cake for dessert - a great meal.
I was 30 minutes late and they were still holding my reservation (thanks). Keeping in mind that they are all students, I could just laugh some mistakes-bringing my salmon without garnish and not charging a lemonade(that I corrected)- and the food was pretty good and it can even be better if it is less sweet. This is a kind of food I expect at a fine dining and, with its reasonable price, I would go every week if I were in San Francisco, unfortunately, I am not.
At $15 for three courses, how can you lose? The training brainchild of the Culinary Institute of California is a winner. Everything is not perfect and do not look for that expansive and expensive wine list. You will go home believing that you have played a part in the nations culinary exploits.
very affordable for very nice dishes and service!
Delicious and absolutely lovely.
Small, lovely spot. Confusing to get to the first time, but lots of friendly help getting to the 6th floor location. Only open on Thursdays and Fridays from 12-2 when classes are in session, so checking the school calendar will help. Soon-to-graduate students rotate through the front seating area and kitchen. The ones we spoke with were delightful to talk to.
The menu changes seasonally and we look forward to the next turn-over. Yummy.
by scenic view i am referring to a very cool urban scene - bustling plaza and city buildings from historic to ultra modern.
a great place to bring business colleagues for a delightful lunch - crb
Great deal from the student chefs at the Art Institute of California San Francisco......
The restaurant had a great atmosphere, being a
Student at the art institute of San Francisco in there
Culinary program you definetly are looming for
Consistency which they have achieved time
And time again. The greek meatballs and the
Tri tip steak is hands down amazing.
Bistro 10 UN was a great experience. In fact, I will be returning next week. You can't beat the prices, and the food was excellent, not to mention the superb service!
Bistro 10 UN was just great. Wonderful food, attentive service and truly a great value, given the quality of the food provided. Portions were good, not too large or small and the quality of the food, presentation and service would merit a higher price if this were not a learning laboratory for the Culinary Arts Students of the Art Institute University of San Francisco.
The meal and service were very good. I had the baked cod and pureed veg. Everything was delicious and well presented. Even the complimentary bread and butters were delicious. I had the strawberry shortcake for dessert. The strawberries and the cream were wonderful, the shortcake was dry and crumbled + I didn't really enjoy the crystalized ginger on the bottom - it was too tart and bitter tasting. However, overall my meal and service was fantastic and well priced. It appeared to be a slow day in the dining room. I'm not really fond of the decor in the dining room and there isn't much ambience. However, for the location, it's ok. I think plants and a blue/green palette would've been nicer, and different ligh fixtures. I give it 4 STARS!! :-)
