Just keep in mind that this is a Culinary Institute so the quality can vary. Because the students are the waitstaff, the service can suffer sometimes. The food is inventive and usually good quality and the menu changes every quarter. The asparagus salad I started with excellent except that the photo of it down on the ground floor showed it including a spray of fresh enoki but mine came with a few limp, tired enoki - I'm glad to say that the rest of the salad was excellent. Although we got there at 12:45, they were already out of two of the three entrees! Luckily, the salmon (the one entree that was left) was excellent - rare with but crispy on the outside. The best thing about Bistro 10UN is the price - $15/2 courses or $18/3 courses. What a deal!

Because this is the restaurant of the Culinary Institute, the service can be a bit shaky. The host was kind enough to let us know that the restaurant would be closed for a while during the upcoming spring break which was nice of him. The dishes are not always quite as described on the menu but they are always good. One person that I ate with thought there should be more vegetarian choices on the menu. For good cuisine, though, this is the best deal in town.

On a whim after overhearing about the food and service at Bistro 10 UN, I decided to check this place out on my own. Wow! This fine establishment blew away my expectations. Manuel, who greeted me at the front, made sure I was well taken care of. I went for the split pea soup, tri-tip and carrot cake. My meal started off with freshly baked bread. I remember it was aromatic and tasted delectable. The soup and tri-tip were perfect. My carrot cake was beautifully presented. The ambience inside was just right. Thanks to the warm welcome from Manuel, great service and quality of food, I will definitely be back for more.

I dined at 10UN Bistro last Friday and I was thoroughly impressed by the menu offerings, food quality and presentation! As part of my three course prix fixe selections, I enjoyed the field greens salad as my appetizer, rockfish entree, and chocolate peanut butter banana mousse for dessert. I was very happy about the freshness and flavor of the rockfish. I also found the service to be very friendly and hospitable. This is even more impressive since all of the servers only have three weeks to learn to be fine dining servers, as was explained to me by the manager/front-of-the-house instructor. I definitely plan on dining at 10UN Bistro very soon!

You must make a reservation go to here as your name is left with the security guard at the entrance of the building. Don't be put off, though, this is a very innovative restaurant that is really reasonably priced. It's a training ground for the college students so service can be spotty - for example, the two people with me had main courses but I ordered only a starter; I wasn't asked if I wanted by food when the other diners' meals came so I ended up eating way before them. The food was very, very tasty. I had a seafood pasta dish that looked very bland but the subtle taste of herbs and lemon was perfect. Desserts are delish too.

What a neat concept, but the summary of the restaurant should include that it is a teaching venue.

The food was tasty and interesting. Not huge quantities, but sufficient. We had several different dishes. The salads were fresh and attractive. The main dishes had nice sides. I had mahi mahi fish which was not overcooked. Desserts were excellent. Key lime pie with tart filling and beautiful meringue topping. The crust was a bit tough, but tasty. Attractively presented.

I'l go back. Not cheap, but a good value.

Creative menu and overall well executed. Salad was over dressed and some of the sauces were a bit too salty. Enjoyed very much and will come again.

I have been going to Bistro 10UN for many years. I understand that because they are mostly students learning in the SFAI program the expectations should be moderate. Some of the food can be really good at times. Unfortunately, after we ordered we were informed that one of the main courses we ordered was no longer available, We were there on the early side so that is not acceptable. The bread was overcooked and the wait person even asked us "Is the bread overcooked?" when we said yes she said she would bring us fresh bread but never did. I will probably go back again because t is a good value and close to work, but I will no longer recommend it to others.

Staff a little bit overwhelmed by the numbers in our party. Not sure if appetizer tart was suppose to be cold but would recommend serving it warmed up not room temperature. My selection for main course was the salmon. The middle was undercooked. Dessert presentation was excellent. Portions were very, very generous. Overall experience completed the day trip from out of town.

The food was delicious! The students are still learning and they got the taste right. The plate of the main course could have looked better. Dessert was amazing. We called ahead for one guest who has allergies. They didn't know about it so she felt short changed and could not eat a full 3 courses.

One has to give some leeway since the cooking and serving are done by students of the culinary institute. This being the case, one cannot complain about the food itself. The steak I had was correctly made (the polenta was very good!), the deviled eggs was good and the dessert was delicious. The problem? The host was surly and did not appreciate any kind of request even when it is their fault, i.e., coffee cup had to be replaced due to being dirty, refill for coffee and that we stayed longer to get the dessert even though we stated up front that we were having the full 3 course menu. If you take him out of the equation, then it is a very nice place to try!

Fine dining bargain downtown. I had an excellent 3 course lunch here. The grilled fennel salad with pomelo and parsley oil was innovative and a perfect starter dish. As a posole connoisseur, I had to try the version here. It was comfort food elevated with a distinctive broth and quality ingredients.

As this is a cooking school one should adjust their expectation. A 3 course prix fixe menu is offered with a choice for each course which includes tea. My bill was $21. There is no wine or spirits available. Service was spotty. The servers still have not learned to get comfortable with guests. The restaurant is located on the 6th floor. Guests will need to register with the security desk in the lobby.

The decor and atmosphere was really nice. Not to noise, and it fit well as if dining in a fine dining restaurant. What really surprised me was when I order the grilled salmon. I am someone who is really picky with fish, but this was seasoned well, and paired with the sided dishes made it taste really delicious. I get it a student run restaurant, but they are doing there best, and I would come back and bring some friends too.

My reservation was for 1:15 pm on a Thursday.Service was good but I very disappointed they did have two out of the three entrees featuring Pork chops or Salmon which I woould have bery much liked. Instead I was offerred the vegetarian dish with faro anddddd it was not satisfying for me.

I've eaten at 10UN three times previously and was able to choose from the three available entrees. My firend said said she would probably not return.

Our beef was served cold though the plate was hot. We had ask to have it reheated which made it much better. The service was good but the main food entree has stepped down a notch. The food is not bad but it is not spectacular.

Look, I know it is student run, but the service needs to be stepped up. Started with no ice in the drinks and being out of 3 of the 5 appetizers is not good, but the server was not at all apologetic and after we pushed hard he came back and said one of them was available - this was not late into the lunch hour either. The food is always good here - the service is not what you go for obviously, but The main course took so long to get (about 30-40 min) that I had to cancel my dessert order to get back to work while my companions stayed. I found out later that they still charged me for the dessert which is not ok.

First time here. Unfortunately for us, it was the first day of the class season. Reservations at 1pm, got seated at 1:35. They offered a 3 course set meal. By the time we ordered it was almost 2:00pm, and 3 of the 5 dishes were sold out. We waited 20 min for our order, then to find out the order was not placed with the chef (got lost). When we reordered, only one dish was left (chicken). So we had no choice. Chicken was excellent, vegetables were slightly over cooked. Then, we found out that there was no dessert left that we ordered or on the menu. So chef made us something special. We understood that it was the first day and they were down one helper. Servers were apologizing... But we understood. Just had to relax and enjoy. We still would try it but make reservations when it opens, not at 1pm.

Manager Elliott was pleased that food was running out but I was not!! First day open on Jan 22nd and no more Cream of Mushroom Soup,no more lamb shank, no more pork loin, no more mousse pie! What is that all about?? It was just 12:30p and they open at 11:45am?? Crazy.. Should not let customers know that's it good to run out of FOOD! It is a restaurant.. I believe!! Plus he gave me what was leftover with what was a peanut butter mousse pie that was like a slap in the face when I opened the to go box.. A sloppy sliver of a mushy mousse pie and then tells me they all look like that!! What was I to think?
My friend, the young lady that served us, and myself could not believe that he brought that out to me because I was disappointed I couldn't bring food home to my sister who loves the food here!! At this point .. If Elliott still has this concept of "It's okay to run out of food"...Then I might not want to go back or refer this place to friends!! And I do love the concept of Bistro10UN.. I should have spoken to the Chef and I didn't because Elliott is indeed the "Manager".. Majorly disappointed

Bistro 10UN gives you a wonderful first hand look behind the scenes at the how culinary students learn to become professional chefs, restaurant staff, etc. The customer service was excellent. The students were very professional. I ordered the 3 course meal of beet salad, pork, and dessert bites. The beet salad was the best course, consisting of fried beets, roasted beets, and beet chips. The pork was rather dry, so hopefully they will improve on it in the future. Finally, the bite-sized dessert plate was adorable, consisting of a macaroon, sugar cookies, mini tea cakes, and roasted almonds. I loved the sugar cookies. Overall, this was a great learning experience for the students and the diners!

Found this when checking last minute for a quick place to meet with a coworker over lunch. An outstanding value! 6th floor of 10 UN Plaza, open Wednesday to Friday for lunch. Two courses for $15; three for $18. Short but diverse menu with unusual offerings like grilled Amberjack (with a coconut curry sauce on the side), and some traditional items too, like a house made burger. And EVERYTHING is made from scratch, even the ketchup. Thoughtfully prepared, well presented. Bravo!
