About this restaurant

Bistro 100 is a French-American restaurant open for dinner that features small plates, meaty entrees and local wines and beers. From a simple cheese plate, to dishes like a pan-seared chicken breast with vegetables and a chardonnay mustard demi-glace, Bistro 100 consistently delivers. A bold seasonal menu crafted around the endless bounty of California's farms keeps Bistro 100's offerings fresh. The restaurant's burgers are always fun, with a Gorgonzola and caramelized onion burger on a brioche bun. Bistro 100's salads are perfect for those in search of lighter fare, with ingredients like strawberries, radishes and blue cheese. Sample a new wine and listen to live jazz music on Thursday nights.

First of all the chairs are very uncomfortable - no padding. Our server was very friendly, but needed some polish. For example, one of our party ordered the hamburger with a side of onion rings. Our server did not say that the order came with fries and perhaps he would not want both. I asked for ice for my water and was brought a glass full of ice and left to my own devices to get the ice and the water into the same glass without spilling. Could she not have just brought me a glass of ice water? The food was very good and the location was nice.

My friend and I went to hear chantress Janie Roberts sing, accompanied by two instrumentalists. We were delightfully surprised at the gourmet menu. The two specials were beautifully presented and totally delicious. Although both very full, we shared crème brulee for dessert--it was worth it! The music was wonderful, the service excellent, and we would go again.

We visited this restaurant to hear our friend play in her band and also to check out this restaurant and the food. Waitstaff was pleasant and prompt; however, after our food was served we saw no one again until we asked for our check-- water glasses were not refilled and no one asked us how our food was. We stuck to the appetizers menu, except for one of us, because each entrée came at a hefty price. I ordered the chicken wings, which were fair; two friends ordered the polenta, which they said was so-so, and my husband ordered a hamburger which was hardly bigger than a silver dollar and it was nothing special but honestly leaning toward not very good. With so much other excellent restaurant competition in the nearby neighborhood, and because their prices are very high, I doubt I would venture back in again, unless just to have a glass of wine and hear a band.

I think it is very hard to judge a restaurant on crazy busy holidays, but they were up to the challenge. I had a very delicious short rib dish and my daughter had polenta. We both loved our dishes and the chocolate mousse also very good. Service was also good, recommendations were spot on.

I'd been meaning to give Bistro 100 a try, as it was a new restaurant that I had noticed on my way to work. On Valentine's Day, I waited until the last minute to book a reservation, and this was one of the few places in town that had a table. We booked early, and even though the kitchen was not officially open, the staff made an effort to serve us. We were pleased with the food, and the service was pretty quick, considering the busy night. The prices were a bit high, I suspect because of Valentine's, so I'll have to try again to see what normal prices are like. Overall I can recommend this restaurant.

Bistro 100 is trying hard. Maybe? We arrived to find a nearly empty restaurant, but were never really greeted by the staff or maitre d'. We chose it as a central location to meet a friend on Valentine's Day. The food is fairly ordinary for the prices and the ambiance is grim. The restaurant was never more than 30% occupied during our 1.5 hours there, but that did not save the service from being weak. The waitress seemed a bit frazzled, overworked and not entirely sure what she was doing most of the time. When the check was delivered it was thrown down on the table, and something that sounded like 'thanks' was uttered, but like so much at Bistro 100 it was unclear if we were being thanked or urged to move on. The bus/boy helper was kind, but also seemed unsure of what he should be doing, not a good way to be introduced to restaurant work. We spent $100 for three for lunch (no alcohol) so it's not cheap. Dine at your own risk.

Our Saturday evening dinner experience was disappointing. Upon arrival, we were told our table was "still occupied" even though there were several open tables for two. Our wine and salads were good, but we had to ask several times for water. I'm all for locally sourced ingredients however my hamburger was so "gamey" I couldn't eat it. I ended up bringing it home for our dog. My husbands filet was uninspiring and he brought some home for our dog also. After the lackluster service and disappointing food, we skipped dessert, paid our bill and left. We won't go back. It wasn't awful, but not really worth a return trip due to the other excellent restaurants in Petaluma.

I was looking forward to celebrating a friend's birthday in style. Unfortunately, Bistro 100 did not live up to its hype. The meals were overpriced, not the gourmet delights that would be expected at the price. Our service was hideous. The setting was stark.

This restaurant produces dishes on par with many of my San Francisco favorites. The ingredients are above par, extremely fresh and very flavorful. The dishes, mussels, chopped salad, caesar & brussel sprouts, were delicious. The decor was not additive. It could use a professional touch to bring the dining experience inline with the food offering. But the service was attentive and we were able to eat from the full menu for a late weekday lunch at 2:30pm, a time when most places are shut down.
