About this restaurant

Bistro 100 is a French-American restaurant open for dinner that features small plates, meaty entrees and local wines and beers. From a simple cheese plate, to dishes like a pan-seared chicken breast with vegetables and a chardonnay mustard demi-glace, Bistro 100 consistently delivers. A bold seasonal menu crafted around the endless bounty of California's farms keeps Bistro 100's offerings fresh. The restaurant's burgers are always fun, with a Gorgonzola and caramelized onion burger on a brioche bun. Bistro 100's salads are perfect for those in search of lighter fare, with ingredients like strawberries, radishes and blue cheese. Sample a new wine and listen to live jazz music on Thursday nights.

Made reservations just 30 minutes ahead -- they didn't bother to shut down the online reservation system when they closed. How many people drove there and parked and then had to find out they couldn't eat. And how dirty was the kitchen?

The restaurant had all the trappings of a cute, upscale bistro but the experience was very less than. Things were inconsistent. When we arrived, we had to ask for water, bread, then again for small plates when it arrived and we had nothing to eat it on. I had a great Caesar salad and good, but expensive wine, but my entrée was not at all what I expected. The description was of duck two ways with what I thought was linguine on the side. What I got was a pasta in a thick cream sauce that included pieces of duck leg. I was very disappointed though the duck was tasty but I rarely eat pasta and don't like cream sauces! I was treating my parents and their food was good but several items did not match the descriptions in the menu.

We have eaten at Bistro 100 on several occasions in the past and have always really enjoyed our meals. This time we brought four friends with us and I'm sad to relate that the meals were rather disappointing. I would give the food a so so to an OK at best. There were only 2 specials offered in addition to the regular fare on the menu. One was a soup which a friend ordered and said wasn't anything to write home about. Another friend ordered chicken which was supposed to consist of wings and drumsticks. Her husband ordered the same dish and they were going to trade off. She was going to give him her drumsticks for his chicken wings, problem was that although he got both, she received only the drumsticks. The waitress took back the drumsticks only dish and out friend ordered a hamburger which was good, but not great. I forgot to see if I was charged for the chicken that went back to the kitchen, but hope that I was not. The best thing about this dining experience was great service on the part of our waitress and since we dined early on a Sunday, the restaurant was quiet and we were able to have pleasant dinner conversation without having to compete with a lot of noise.

We really wanted to like Bistro 100, but we left disappointed... menu sounded great, food looked good, but the taste was just not there. Overcooked chicken. Undercooked vegetables. Brussel sprouts served too soon. Hope it was just an off night for the kitchen, because the ethos of the restaurant is inviting.

Honestly was not that impressed tonight. Menu was minimal and we found the offerings not that appealing. Salads were good, entrees were nice but something was missing. Sorry.

I took my husband for a birthday dinner at Bistro 100 recently and we had a lovely experience. The food was excellent with service to match. We dined early, around 6:30 PM on a Wednesday, evening and the restaurant was not crowded or at all noisy. The birthday/dessert part of our meal was handled simply and with out a lot of fanfare. A single candle burning brightly on the delicious lemon tart that my husband ordered. Some happy birthday wishes from the staff and a couple of customers at the bar. More than enough celebrating to make it a perfect evening for both my husband and me. We definitely will eat at Bistro 100 again.

For some restaurants, a Croque Monsieur is whatever they want it to be. This is one of those places. The bread is sliced twice as thick at it ordinarily would be so that the primary ingredient is bread and it dominates the preparation. The ham is paper thinly sliced unlike any ham you would get in France. The Gruyère was hard to find. Nor could you call the restaurant a bargain. A medium sized glass of sparkling Lemonade is $4.50 which is nearly twice the going rate at nearby establishments. Now my eating companion did like the polenta with mushrooms and the macaroni and cheese, which we shared, was well above average. These two factors are the only reason to give the restaurant 3 stars and certainly not my Croque.

The muscles were the best I have had and the hamburger we would order again. The salads a little pricey. The potato and kale soup was the weakest part of the meal. No potato only kale which meant only 1/3 of the soup was eaten. We would definitely return and with less then 6 people. I have recommended to friends but also warned them service was so slow and our bills were totally screwed up.

The food is great and the service is outstanding. The wine list is not very impressive, but of good value and designed to go with the menu. The Wine pairing dinners are really good and a good value too.
