BISTECCA – An Italian Steakhouse (formerly The Grotto)
We are always happy with the consistently exceptional food and service at Bistecca.
The food is excellent! The drawbacks were a very noisy room (the group at the table adjacent to ours began singing loudly and playing their spoons -- we could not hear each other at our table while this was going on), and that the tables were too close together (wait staff knocked over our glasses twice with their buttocks while they were serving neighboring tables).
We had a great experience. The service was awesome, food was great. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Our server, Laurie was very attentive and right on top of our every need. The only two complaints were that it is extremely noisey and we felt rushed. We were in and out in one hour & fifteen minutes. When you order a bottle of wine, you want to enjoy it and the pace was just too quick for us to do that. It did not appear that they needed the table either because when we left, there were many open tables.
Thank you for sending a review for us. This dinner was our Valentines date.
We started with a "split" of prosecco but ended up with a split each......that should have been explained more clearly. The glass of Duckhorn cab was great, but a little pricey to us (we are True wine people and are very familiar with pricing) Incidently, I had called prior to our visit to ask about any byob options and the person, Avery, abruptly told me no they couldn't do that because they would lose their liquor license!
When a customer asks that question the hostess should know that the customer probably has used other places in Texas that allow byob. Just a side note.
Overall our meal was good+ I had the lobster tail which was delicious (however; the menu price said $44 and I was charged $49.50??)
My husband and I shared the shrimp grotto which was excellent. He really enjoyed his 1/2 doz. oysters but the Caprese salad left alot to be desired. Very small and nothing special.
My husband ordered the snapper which he said was just ok.......reason being there was too much sauce which took away from the coated texture and the cooking of the fish itself. We took a cheesecake dessert home with us which was great!
Since this was our first visit, we will definitely return to give it another try mainly due to the outstanding service we received from Carmen. She was energetic, polite and very personable with us! Thank you Carmen!
This is our very favorite place!! We have our “Foodie Friends” hooked too. Thank you, Morris for coming by our table. This was the perfect night for my birthday celebration. 😊❤️
It was a little pricey for what you receive. The prime rib was a great cut but the flavor was nothing special. The steak was 18oz and I figured me and my date could split it but there were not near enough vegetables. The crab cakes were small, just tasted like crab and not worth the price. The tables are so close that the noise level doesn't allow you to hear each other talk. On the other hand the drinks were great! I had the Spiced Mexican Martini and it was made perfectly. I will venture back someday to try other items on the menu but it's not because the wowed me.
Tables were packed like sardines. I couldn't talk with my spouse without the people next to us hearing. The oysters were fishy, I've had better crab cakes, and the venison plate wasn't what I was expecting.
We've been to Bistecca 3 or 4 times. The food and service are always fantastic. Favorite item is the tuna grotto app but everything we've had has been awesome. Service is on point.
Wonderful steaks...every visit! Relaxing atmosphere for adults!
Delicious and great experience. However we brought our 11 year old daughter and she didn't like it. Just not for kids. lol
My first time visiting!! It was fabulous!! Our waitress Brandi was very attentive to our needs.
Great food and very relaxing. Even with it busy you could still talk easily and hear your conversation. Service was great and attentive
Always delish. Always perfection. My favorite restaurant!
WE HAVE BEEN REGULARS AT SALERNOS FOR 25 YRS SINCE MOVING TO FLOWER MOUND FROM DALLAS AND AND ALSO THE GROTTO. WE LIKE THE WHITE TABLE CLOTH ATMOSPHERE AND THE SERVICE. THE FOOD IS ALWAYS PERFECT.
Had a wonderful time. Thank you to the entire wait staff.
It was fantastic!
It's been one of my favorite restaurants for nearly 30 years. My man had the bone-in ribeye and we both agreed it was one of the top steaks we've ever had. Glad to see the great food continues!
Celebrating early Valentine’s dinner. Amazing and always!
As always, this is our very favorite restaurant. It's that one-of-a-kind hidden gem that you don't expect to find in the suburbs - but once you find it, you'll keep going back time and again! Chef Morris Salerno and his team never fail to disappoint.
This was our first visit. The food was amazing! Our server, Anna, was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. She gave us the perfect suggestions. We will definitely be back.
We once again were seated at the dreaded “kitchen table” located right in the middle of all the kitchen traffic. We had made a reservation a week in advance however when we arrived we were initially told they did not have a table for 4 as we requested. It was a bad experience this time around. Very loud also. The food however is fantastic.
Food was absolutely delicious. We had mussels and the steak appetizer. I probably could have stopped there, but there was more coming. The crab bisque was so good. The steak was done just right, they use real crab. It was a birthday, so they treated us to dessert, which was rich and delicious. The service was very attentive and personable, her recommendations were spot on. It's a bit pricey, so for us it won't be a go to for family dinner out on a regular basis, but definitely a treat for a special occasion.
Vine and dine party which we left to come have appetizers and drinks ! Awesome !
A great neighborhood gem that delivers consistent food quality, great setting (once you get in the front door), and great service most often.
Wonderful menu, specials and delicious food with a lovely wine list.
White chocolate raspberry soufflé was amazing!
One of my favorites great food, classy
We had guests come into town and my husband asked me where I wanted to take them to eat. I immediately told him Bistecca. My reason was and is that I have never been disappointed in it. It is always consistently good. I don't have to worry about having to apologize to my guests because something is not up to par. The food, the service, the atmosphere, even tableside visits from the chef, Morris Salerno, are always a delight. I recommend the new bar drinks also. The apple cider mimosa and the mexican martini were delicious.
This was my first time to dine at this establishment and I was there for a business dinner. The staff was very friendly and the service was exceptional. All facets of the meal were very good, from the appitizer, to the she-crab soup, the perfectly cooked and very tender filet, and finally the wonderful dessert. There were no dissapointments about the experience, with the only exception being that I live 45-minutes to an hour from this restaurant. That said, I will still be back.
The ambiance was relaxed, and nice. The steaks were cooked perfectly, even medium-well was very moist and juicy. Cheese board was full and delicious, wine selection was fantastic. Had a wonderful time visiting with friends from out of town.
We are sorry we haven’t eaten here sooner! We had a wonderful meal and were very impressed. Service was a little slow when we first arrived but improved quickly. This is definitely a local gem!
Primarily, Service was phenomenal. We were treated like VIP'S! Loved that.
Our waitress, Ana was the best!
She has s great upbeat attitude and was was very proactive in helping us select a great wine and also providing us with a great meal from the best chefs that have continuously cooked the best t-bone to suit my palate than any other steakhouse.
Thank You, Morris for providing the best Italian food & steak place in DFW!
First, the service is wonderful. I am very impressed how all of the wait people helped all of the tables. If a waiter (who was not our waiter) walked by our table and noticed something - they just took care of it. I also noticed a bus person cleaning up after a large group. He was replacing tables that had been pushed together and noticed two of them were not balanced. He took the time to fix both of them so they did not "wabble". Second, the food is worth every penny you spend. We have been dining here for over 15 years and it just gets better and better.
This is our go to date night spot and it NEVER disappoints!!!
Chef met us at the door and help us to our table. Checked on us at least 2 times during dinner! Great food, great experience!!
We have been here several times before and cannot quite give it the 5 star rating.
#1 Very loud. We had to ask to have the music turned down and the acoustics amplify the other diners conversations.
#2 We ordered not one but TWO different bottles of wine from the menu but discovered the dates on the bottle did not reflect the bottles on the wine list. We believe there is a difference between a '11 and '15. We switched to cocktails.
#3 The "she-crab" soup was fantastic, as were our meals (scallops, prawns) although one of us had to re-order because they were out of salmon and halibut (630pm on a week night). (Maybe you could let the diners know before ordering that it wasn't available)
This is our favorite place and our “foodie” friends had never tried it!! It was a hit and their new favorite place. We will all be back for Valentines. Love this place!❤️
I love going to BISTECCA, everything is so good. I am the type who normally gets my favorite dish from a restaurant every time, but everything in the menu is so good that I switch it up a lot. My favorite is the snapper, and for dessert the soufflé is amazing!
Always a good meal. Morris the owner/chef takes the time to greet his guests. It’s a nice touch
We used to live just down the road and discovered this wonderful steak house looking for something new. We now live in Arlington and drive there a couple of times a year for special occasions. The Tuna Grotto is to die for, the Grotto Salad is a guilty pleasure, and the Filet have never disappointed!
