Bistango Ratings and Reviews
I've lived in the South Coast for the past two decades, and I can easily say Bistango is the best dining experience I have had in Orange County. Absolutely fantastic atmosphere and service and superb food greets me every time I visit.
*I strongly recommend the chocolate souffle, one of the best desserts I've ever had*
Bistango has been a favorite for many years. We are always so pleased with the menu, the service and the great art and music. Our waiter, Nick, takes service to the highest level. The food is excellent and beautifully presented. It will always be our favorite.
Good food, but not great. In the atrium lobby of an office building - they make a good effort to make it feel like its own 'location' but you still know you're in an office building. Both the food and service were good but not noteworthy or memorable. I wouldn't avoid this place in the future but it's not a destination place. It's a great and convenient location if you're in, or close to, the office tower they're in; in such case, its location outweighs getting in a car and going someplace else. Other than that, there are other fine places near enough to try.
Went on Christmas Eve. We were seated in a back room that was nice and quiet but lacked ambiance. We have gone to Bistango quite a few times and this visit was a bit of a disappointment. The food, as usual, tasted outstanding. However, the beet salad was much, much skimpier than normal with only 1/2 of a walnut, half the normal amount of beets and avocado. It looked like they ran out of ingredients. Everyone’s cocktail didn’t come out together and the same happened with the appetizers and entree’s. They forgot the ice cream on the desert. The waiter was, as usual, a bit snooty and detached. Not a normal experience for Bistango.
Overall I am very pleased with this restaurant, however, my only complaint would be the ceasar salad. My guest and I asked for extremely light dressing and we were both served salads smothered in dressing. We did not complain or send it back. Our waiter was very attentive and personable.
I have been to Bistango many times, this visit was disappointing. Even with a reservation, we had to wait and then were seated at a small cocktail table in the lounge. This was my client’s first time dining there. The service was very slow. Only good thing about this visit was the food.
A coworker and I do an annual Christmas lunch and this spot is always my first choice. Bistango is not like most restaurants in Irvine, a bit more upscale and out of the way, compared the all the more well know places. I've never had a bad menu selection, the staff is great at make suggestions, keeping drinks filled and checking on anything you might need.
Have dined here a ton of times and even though the restaurant was very busy, they managed to get the food out of the kitchen in a timely manner. Likely because we dined at 5 pm, but noticed many large holiday groups arriving at 6:30. Nearly all the servers seem new with the exception of maybe one. Menu seemed the same with a few additions. Lamb and scallop entrees were very good.
I have been to Bistango many time and the consistent excellence is amazing. I took my staff for a Christmas lunch and the food was wonderful, the service is spot on and because of the set up the noise level is zero. We had a table of at least 16 right next to us and I never knew it until I left the table for a moment. It is impossible to go wrong here.
We were two retired couples catching up at lunch. The service was outstanding. The server was always there when we wanted something and never hovering. We ordered a variety of foods from fish to filet to risotto to cheeseburger. Everything was outstanding. I would recommend them all. The serving sizes were generous for a luncheon menu. It was a bit pricey but worth it.
The staff at Bistango were more than accommodating. We had a last minute reservation at the restaurant and had an event that evening so we’re very pressed for time. We mention this to the host and he made sure the staff were aware, as well as checked in with us throughout our meal to make sure things were running smoothly due to our time constraints. The food was wonderful (I highly recommend the sea bass). Service was exceptional. We made it to our venue on time and are extremely appreciative to Bistango. Well done!! We look forward to visiting Bistango again were we can throughly enjoy this beautiful restaurant!
Food was good. Service was not that great. Everyone we interacted with was a fairly new employee (2 weeks to 3 months). Is that saying something about management? Also, one side of the bar and our table in particular were within sniffing range of the bathroom sanitizer. Not appetizing. But it was our 1st visit and will try again sometime, requesting different table location.
Hostess tonight greeted us warmly and seated us at a nice private booth. We needed a quiet dinner tonight before all the holiday parties and bistango delivered. Food was well prepared and delivered in a timely manner. We've been coming for years and we're sure to return.
Thanksgiving dinner was a disappointment and a poor value given the cost for the selections....turkey and ham are inexpensive. Both ham and turkey dinners were "average" at best. My son had one of the the steak dinners which was excellent. This is a excellent restaurant but the Thanksgiving dinner was mediocre at best...even the pumpkin cheesecake desert was just average. I know they can do better!
