Bistango, is an exceptional staple of the OC places to dine. Strangely it was the trend setter of its time in the early 1990's. Today it is holding a tradition of restaurants that are going out of style. The service was exceptional. Our server is one reason we go. Jose is personal and proficient. We were being cared for and not just served. People were coming to check on us even if they were not our designated server. The food was excellent. Every dish we ordered wowed us with combinations of flavors and textures tantalizing our palettes. I insisted my wife try a taste of my food as well and vice versa. Long ago, Bistango used to have entertainment that was icing on the cake. Sounds of live jazz, Hispanic music, and piano bar were the norm which suited the quality food and classy environment. Last night was different for us. When paying as much I would have thought the entertainment would be reflective. Retro 70's 80's bands are more akin to a wedding reception. The band was professional and good sound. However, it was loud and more like a bar with people dancing. This is a festive feel but detracts from the ambience of nicer environments. I would conclude this critique by stating diners today have better taste in food but may lack in inclination to music that suits its finer tastes.

Wait staff was fabulous. Band was fabulous. Unfortunately, two entrees of sea bass were ordered with mushroom risotto. The sea bass was stringy and flavorless. The Risotto was not nice and creamy - had to send back

We had a luncheon after our shareholders meeting so we could discuss the day. Service was quick and thorough, and they were always filling our drink glasses without having to ask. Server was very professional and made good suggestions for our lunch and dessert. Food was excellent, and generous portions. We have, and will continue to recommend your restaurant.

As usual a great experience! Our server was sensational and the gazpacho is the best. The steak salad and wedge were great topped off by a very tasty espresso. Five stars all the way. Looking forward to returning soon.

If your going to spend $200+ for dinner for two, the food and experience should be worth the money. Bistango is. The live music and space for dancing is an important part of the experience.

Husband and I tried this place for the first time and we were so glad we did! Big restaurant, live music every night which was nice to listen to while we ate. We had small plates - grilled octopus was delicious and tender, shrimp cocktail was good, not really a Mexican cocktail, but basic and good. Bacon wrapped filets were delicious and the mashed potatoes yummy, we had the au gratin potatoes which were good too. Had to try to chocolate soufflé, it’s why we went there and it didn’t disappoint! Order it ahead of time. Service was great, it’s a little pricey but for the service and quality, worth it!

I wonderful place, but I have to admit I made it a regular dinner stop on Fridays because I loved the entertainment of LaGrande Barr Things change and I guess so does this, but I loved his entertainment, personality, and exchange with the patrons.

The 2nd generation owner gave us complimentary dessert of Grand Marnier Soufflé when she found out I was a regular customer at their start-up location on La Cienega Blvd., she was further surprised that I still remember their former kitchen personnel from exec. chef and 2 former sous chefs and maitré d’. Bistango was located then next to the L’ Orangerie and the tiny but famous Matsuhisa, owned by celebrity sushi chef Nobu. Bistango continues to flourish in Orange County since then and will continue on with the very abled management of its second generation owners. When in Orange County and your palates crave for exquisite dining, Bistango will never be a disappointment. They have withstood the test of time.

Excellent menu, gracious service, and the live music happened to nearly match my Spotify playlist(!). There are very few places that can compete head to head in this category. It ain't cheap, but the value for money is good. And my date was very favorably impressed. :-)

Great evening at Bistango!! Everyone is so nice there and Victor was our waiter and is a really great host! We live down in Dana Point and don't get there too often, usually with friends or a special occasion like our anniversary last night My wife had a grilled shrimp fish served in risotto that had corn. It was fabulous and Victor said the head chef experimented with it and it's been a great hit All their food is great and pricing is not crazy If you've never been, check it out, great food, service and a nice atmosphere. There is a live piano player in the bar area too

Service was horrible. The waitress was so rude and she judge us like we weren’t able to pay the bill or something. She rolled her eyes several times at us. Unwilling to substitute side dishes and accommodate when a person has allergies. We also made them aware that it was a bday so I expected them to sing happy bday and bring a dessert which she didn’t. My lamb chops was undercooked when I asked for to medium. I was afraid to request for them to cook it a little more when the waitress wasn’t friendly and unwilling to accommodate. It’s hard to deal with snob.

We've never been there on a Jazz night before. Too noisy for our taste, but glad Bistango is doing well. Love the additions/variations to the menu, and food was quite good. All in all, a place we love to go to! Fun to celebrate our birthdays also.

The food here is excellent. I had the watermelon salad and it is scrumptious. My boyfriend had the fig and mozzarella salad also wonderful. We also enjoyed the corn bisque. For entrees we had filet that was prepared to perfection and the fettuccine with filet . For desert we loved the tres lache cake . This restaurant never disappoints!

This was our first time here. We were celebrating both of our birthdays. Our waiter was an older gentleman and he is very special . Great service and recommendations . We started with he tuna tartare. We ordered the chili vinaigrette on the side . So glad we did . It was so spicy . My Husband said his grass fed filet mignon was outstanding. Cooked perfectly to medium rare with a char on the outside . My only complaint was the Cesar salad was room temperature not served on a chilled plate . The live band was great

Bistango is our favorite place whenever we are in the Irvine area in July for vacation. The food is always fantastic my favorite during the summer the Sweet Corn Risotto with Bacon Wrapped Prawns and of course a Soufflé for dessert. On Friday's there is great live music, this year we stayed after dinner and enjoyed some dancing.

I love your restaurant. This is also the my go-to place when I brought business guests. I gave only 4 star for service. Not that the service was not good. It's just the server always tended and talked to one person in the three people group. Maybe she liked one of us more but it is not very good service. She should have paid attention to all people. Just small complaint. I still love your restaurant.
