The fare at Bishop's is regional and seasonal. In restaurateur John Bishop's view, it makes sense to showcase British Columbia's lush bounty of seafood, organic produce and meats. His exquisite West Side restaurant blends classic and modern flavours with a casual elegance that keeps clients coming back for a truly exceptional dining experience.

Bishop's Ratings and Reviews
With all the “ new” places to spend an evening in that available in Vancouver - it is nice to visit a long time fine dining legend! Probably the longest running restaurant of its kind in the city and there is a reason for that longevity! Great food, excellent staff and a simple yet elegant setting. Thefixed menu is both truly gourmet and affordable. Not pretentious- just great!
Don’t pass up a chance to experience what a restaurant is suppose to be for a night out.
My husband and I had a perfect evening at Bishop's last week. There is an immediate feeling upon entering the room of warmth and comfort. The room is decorated in perfect taste and the staff were all personable and friendly. Then of course there is the food...outstanding pate and duck followed by a cheese plate for me along with a perfect bottle of Pinot Noir. We lingered over our food and wine feeling that we were dining in the comfort of a beautiful home. This is definitely the place to dine for those special occasions...it was excellent. Thank you.
Bishop's brings what Vancouver is missing with a quality dining experience, service. From the time we walked in the door and were greated to the time we left in the cab they arranged for us every single staff member was flawless with their service.
Our drinks and meals were prepared to perfection and we left 100% satisfied.
My only disappoint may have been with Mr. Bishop's presence. He was very visible on the floor but his was only hosting tables of dinners who were closer to his own age. Towards the end of the night he did pop around the corner and thank us for coming in, but it felt like a requirement after watching him interact with the other tables. The fact that I even had the ability to notice this is a testament to how wonderful his team is.
The staff and owner were really nice and provided amazing service.
The only critique we had was that my friends cod and clams dish was a little disappointing as the fish was too salty and the clams were not properly cleaned so my friend was constantly spitting out sand. We had order pommes frites as well and was to come with aioli but instead came with ketchup until we questioned the server and they quickly rectified that.
It was my friends bday and they did something special which was very nice of them.
The food was as I expected - excellent, but the thing that really stands out about Bishops is the service. It is so welcoming and friendly that you feel valued as customer. If you are looking for elegant unrushed dining where they make you feel like everybody knows your name make your reservation Bishops.
40 years ago we were on our honeymoon in Greece. The staff were great. My wife had the oyster appetizer and one of them was "off". We are not the type of people who complain but I said to my wife we should tell them, they'd rather like to know. With no question our server came back with a nice fresh big one on ice. The halibut was great. Following our dessert, they came out with a dish of frozen grapes dipped in champagne with "Happy Anniversary" scribed on the plate. Mr Bishop came and wished us Happy anniversary discreetly. Very special. Staff attentive but not "over the top" which we appreciate.
A Canadian friend who had eaten there recently recommended Bishops, so we made a reservation in advance of our trip. When we arrived it had just been named the best restaurant in Vancouver, clearly for good reason. My duck was cooked just right, all of the entrees were flavorful and distinctive. The atmosphere was intimate and the service excellent.
This was our second visit to the restaurant in four years and was everything we expected. We were personally welcomed by the owner, John Bishop. Mr. Bishop also checked to see how we were enjoying the prix fixe menu, every course of which was excellent. My husband proclaimed his steak the best he'd ever had. Since halibut was in season, I'd had it multiple times during our week-long trip to British Columbia and found it to be the best prepared and tastiest at Bishop's. We can't wait to return when we next visit Vancouver.
