Valentine's Day Special Menus & More
Bishops will be featuring a special Valentine's Menu, 3/4 course menu with choices plus a glass of Sparkling Rose, price per person $140
The food was so bland and disappointing. There could have been so many other restaurants I would rather spend $200 on. Starter of steak tartare was not seasoned and so pedestrian. Burrata salad was okay but nothing special. Sablefish entree was tiny, left us hungry. Cannelloni was like something that I can make up from the instant pot. Service was good but really wished I went somewhere else to celebrate anniversary.
Thanks again for a lovely dinner. We brought our kids, ages 17, 15 and 12 with us this time. It was the first fine dining experience for 2/3 (our 15 yr old foodie came with us last time) and I feel we have now created a monster! Our 12 year old kept tasting everyone’s food, exclaiming, ‘oh WOW, THIS is good, too!’ She says it was the best food she’s ever had in her entire life. Our autistic 17 year old, very picky and afraid to try new things, was brave and was rewarded with the experience of trying and loving everything he ate, reinforcing that he can discover new things he likes if he’s brave enough to try. Abel and staff were gracious hosts, as per usual. We missed saying hello to John and will definitely bring our kids back again, as it was a great family night out. Thanks so much!
i have been coming to Bishops since i arrived in Vancouver back in 1995. It has usually been driven by occasion such a family birthday or Christmas etc. That said this was for my 50th birthday. I last was due to visit for my fathers birthday in December but because of their bubble abs the need for a second table we were not able to find a reservation.
We paid $50 for a corkage fee which is by far the most of any restaurant in Vancouver. One of the reasons aside from
it being my birthday is that the wines are usually naked up to 300% compared to 50-100 normally. If you can get past that the food is always stunning and the service is usually great. Unusually we noticed that a table that came in after us got way more attention and were served before us even though they arrived 15 minutes after us. I guess they were regulars and the service team knew them well but all the same that came at our expense and given that we were both quite hungry we weren't thrilled...
Overall the ambience and the food are always top notch and if you want the best of farm to table cuisine you can't go far wrong than visiting Bishops. I will be back despite these small issues we faced.
New Year’s Eve nice way to depart with old year
Service fantastic as always. Food delicious. Lemon dessert was so flavourful!
Bishop's, as always, was stellar. The food was amazing - I seriously considered having the tuna tartare appetizer as a dessert, it was so good. The wine was wonderful, the service had exactly the right level of connection - they were there when we needed them and not at all intrusive. John Bishop came by and chatted, which made us feel special .. Bishop's is truly Vancouver's best restaurant as far as I am concerned.
Outstanding food and service. Elegant presentation. My husband had the beef tenderloin which just melted in his mouth. My sablefish was very flavourful and well prepared. Service and ambiance is impeccable.
We loved our meal at Bishop’s. Absolutely everything was delicious. The staff are more than courteous. It also felt very safe to be there at this time with Covid. We would highly recommend you go before the place closes.
Classics, well executed. Absolutely delicious! Would definitely recommend and return.
Still the best food in Vancouver. John (Bishop) has a long history of delivering unbelievable quality in all aspects, his staff have been with him for years and have learned and deliver the same.
I haven't been to Bishop's in quit some time, but this meal reminded me of what I had been missing and why I had tired of much of the Vancouver restaurant scene.
Excellent service and great food.
Wonderful food and service. Glad I got to experience Bishop’s.
Hearing that Bishop’s run will be coming to an end, I knew I had to get in soon. Everything from my entry to my exit was exemplary. I could run on and on, about the service, food, and overall experience. If you’re able to get a table before the curtains fall upon the stage, you owe it to yourself to experience Bishop’s.
In these crazy times whenever we spend an evening in Bishops the world suddenly seems at peace.
Bishop's has been a family favourite for years. We were very happy to celebrate my daughter's 50th birthday there during the last months of Mr. Bishops tenure.
Wonderful in all respects.
I’m sorry I waited 35 years to dine at Bishop’s. Top notch from start to finish, food, service, everything. There were several regulars dining alongside us and I thought how lucky they were to have enjoyed such a wonderful restaurant time and time again.
We go to Bishop’s every year and it never disappoints, never. Drinks, food, service are always at the highest level. The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable. Our favourite restaurant of all time. We enjoyed the beef tenderloin and scallops special. The steak may have been the best meat I’ve ever eaten and the scallops, perfection! Great job as always, Bishop’s. Thank you for a great evening!
A wonderful evening filled with memories gathered from visits over many years. As usual, the food was fabulous, the ambiance intimate and the service stellar. We will miss John, Abel, staff and the Bishop's experience so much.
The food was magnificent, the staff and owner were friendly and attentive. Its a great place for an event, sad that this place is closing down now.
Bishop's will seen be closing its doors for good. I recommend that anyone who has enjoyed Bishop's great food, stellar service, and warm environment try to visit one last time before the end of the year. Bishop's will be truly missed.
Amazing food, everything was delicious and really nice staff!
Everything was outstanding. From the moment we walked in to leaving. The food looks and tastes exquisite. I will miss Bishops and everything it stands for when John Bishop retires. Sigh...
Just Lovely. It will remain my special place even after the retirement.
Loved the experience, glad we were able to go before John Bishop closes. The entrees could have had a few more vegetables but aside from that, everything else was perfect! Thank you so much!
Always lovely in service and ambiance and this visit was no different. The food was delicious with outstanding flavours. It was a birthday dinner during the time of Covid and for two blissful hours we were able to forget all about it. Sad to see this wonderful restaurant close, at the end of this year, but understand that all good things must eventually come to an end.
Our evening was a most delightful experience. Food was delicious, beautifully presented and service was top notch. Food was cooked to perfection. Will point out that if you’re on a special diet they will accommodate.
Great food and service. I’m glad to be able to come one more time before the restaurant closes end of the year.
Had a wonderful evening with a friend.
We “dressed up” a bit and somehow dressed up our conversation a bit too.
Wonderful food, flavours, textures, temperature, etc.
Just like “the before times.”
Thanks
Went for a date night with my husband, wanting the chance to dine before they close for good. The food was outstanding and the servers were lovely. I overheard another customer giving the server a hard time about covid safety measures of not being able to take coats but the server handled it appropriately. The chef provided a couple bonus tasters over the period of the meal which I thought was a nice touch. We had the crab and salmon cake to start which had the perfect crusting for a crab cake and great flavours. My husband had the halibut, also with a beautiful crusting. I had the duck with a fantastic sauce and these perfectly cooked potatoes, a simple ingredient but I have never had a potato cooked so perfectly, it added to the overall flavours and textures of the dish. We finished with the dessert special which was a refreshingly sweet lemony finish. Sadly this will likely be our last meal here due to the close but I hope to hear about a future endeavour of the chef.
As expected, this was a wonderful dining experience. 2 things detracted: foul smell upon entry, like there had been a flood at one time; and the food was noticeably salty. I contacted the restaurant the next day but did not get any reply, so I am telling you here. Cheers!
Always good!
The service is seamless and professional and the quality and preparation of the ingredients allows the individual components to shine without overwhelming. From start to finish a remarkable meal!
Nice atmosphere, easy to find parking on street, really good service, small place with few tables so not noisy. Menu is small and simple, maybe too simple.
Great restaurant! Sad to see it closing down at the end of 2020
Beautiful food, sustainably sourced in the ambiance of a quietly elegant room. Thanks John & colleagues 🙏
Perfect in almost every respect. However, the mood lighting was far too dim. I am intensely annoyed when I cannot read the menu without difficulty.
We also love going to Bishops. The service has always been excellent and the food is amazing. We are always made to feel special
Best damn dinner I have had in ages. Maybe a bit pricey, but seriously great food and experience.
I rarely write reviews but am compelled to in this case. This is one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to, anywhere. From the service to the ambience to the food - tasty, cooked perfectly and the star of the show - everything was consistent and amazing. It might not have the flair and trendiness of the newest hot spots, or the prime location downtown, but Bishop’s is second to none when it comes to the Vancouver dining scene.
Fantastic as always...Bishop’s will be sorely missed.
