Great food and atmosphere. Every dish we tried was an absolute feast of tastes and was constructed beautifully.
Even during the pandemic Bishops delivers. There is no other restaurant in this city that compares, in my humble opinion.
One of my favourite restaurants and let’s just say there is no other like Bishop’s. My friend and I were sad when we found out Bishop’s was going to shut its door last August, but I guess Covid has allow them to remain open and I’m so happy. This year, we been back there twice, even brought our friends there and each time the food never disappoints! You can’t go wrong with anything that is on the menu. If you have never been here, it’s a must because you will absolutely love this place!!!
Also, John always give that personal touch - till this day he goes around and say hi to each table and I think that’s just incredible. All the staff there were warm and amazing!
I'm not sure how someone couldn't enjoy Bishops. It was all wonderful, from service to food to drinks. The table of 4 of us, all in our 30's, all agreed that as usual, it was one of the best restaurant experiences we've ever had. This restaurant has been setting the bar for dining in BC for decades and hasn't lost a step.
The Beef Tenderloin is absolutely mouth watering. Definitely recommend!
The atmosphere was comfortable, though it felt really quite. We're a talkative and outgoing European family and often felt uncomfortable if we felt we were getting 'too loud'.
Staff was really friendly and knowledgeable.
I hope to come back before they close!
Recommended by a friend, I was curious to try the West Coast influenced food. Enjoyed the recommended tuna tartare as one of the extra dishes not on the menu and enjoyed my moist tender halibut infused with flavor though I thought the spring vegetables were a bit sparing as I mostly had broccolini on my plate. I expected the pomme frites side to be thinner and crispier. Still they were delicious with the mayonaise on the side. My friend had the rack of lamb which appeared perfectly cooked. We were pleasantly surprised by the delicious amuse bouche and the little dessert bites offered complementary to us while we enjoyed after dinner drinks to digest. Bishop came to a nearby table to chat with a couple who appeared to be celebrating a special date. This is a lovely place to take a good friend or to celebrate a special couple's milestone. The food is cooked well and tasty and the service is attentive.
Never a disappointment at Bishop's. The food is predictably excellent and the service always attentive without being overly intrusive. Highly recommend the rack of lamb and the duck breast. Save room for dessert!
Everything was so good! I have no comment! For those who would like to eat at a fine dining restaurant, this is the right place for you. The ambience was super amazing too. Nothing goes wrong with the good and service was super friendly. I have no feedback to what needed to be fixed since everything was super perfect! Totally recommended and would go back again to eat here next time!
Had a wonderful dinner out for our birthday. Thank you for making it special.
It’s a special place for special events. The food, staff and environment is special
John and his team are just the best. So pleased that the restaurant remains open. All guests are treated like royalty.
It is always such a great pleasure to dine at Bishop’s. The food is delectable and the service impeccable. John Bishop is the epitome of a great host and we are hoping he will be around a lot longer! Thank you so much for many memorable meals.
An excellent experience with exceptional dishes in small servings served attentively.
Price as expected.
It was on my bucket list for 30 years and was worth the wait.
Enjoyed the selection of appetizers and wine selections
Our service was exceptional. Our glass of wine was always re-filled at the right time and the food was lovely.
Very warm welcome and put us at ease after having a stressful drive over town for dinner.....great staff that were friendly and knowledgeable. First time ever at Bishops and enjoyed seeing how many regulars were clearly frequenting the restaurant. Will be back again💜
Amazing food and fantastic service
Amazing food and service. Even there's a short selection of food, everything that we ordered was cooked to perfection. We'll definitely return!
Excellent service & food, will definitely be back.
Had a wonderful meal at Bishop's. On our table we had grilled octopus, steak tartar, and the burrata cheese salad. Grilled rack of lamb and beef tenderloin as our mains. Finished off the meal with the cheese plate and strawberry cheese cake. Everything was done really well with good flavours. I enjoyed my husbands rack of lamb over the steak, but both were really good. I would recommend visiting Bishop's for a nice meal and friendly staff.
Without a doubt, Bishop's is or family's favourite dining experience. Everything has been perfect every single time we have visited. Please don't ever close your doors!
Bishop’s has been our favourite for years.
Food and presentation was great. Service could be a bit better though.
Perfect from beginning to end. This is Vancouver’s best restaurant.
Excellent food and service. We enjoyed very much our meal. Hadn't been for a while but won't wait so long for next time. I hope they keep operating
Amazing food and service. Absolutely loved my meal here
John Bishop has long been one of Vancouver's most excellent restaurateurs. He has a reputation for encouraging and inspiring people working for him and that still shows at Bishop's in 2021. In rooms decorated to reflect our province, socially distanced diners experience faultless service and classic but creative cuisine. From the amuse-bouche to the final course, we were delighted.
After listening to compliments about the dessert special, our server talked about their recently graduated pastry chef working with Bishop's Spanish-born chef Macia Bagu to construct a dish that was not another uninspired version of crème caramel. Wow, did they succeed! The coconut flavoured result, with meringue, sugar glass and frozen custard, was a triumph. Despite perfection of the courses that came before, and my normally blasé attitude toward dessert, this small offering stays with me as memorable. Chefs doing something excellent that others can’t or won’t do just seems to fit in a John Bishop restaurant.
In the kitchen,
Always a lovely evening with delicious food and great service.
John's team delivers a wonderful dining experience very time we go. The menu is beautifully curated and brings a subtle continental touch to Pacific Northwest cuisine.
Amazing food and good services. Will come back again
It was a memorable ding experience. This establishment has been in the Vancouver food scene for many years and still maintains its quality and service. Absolutely love dining here.
We were lucky to get a last minute reservation. The servers seemed thrilled to see us. Everyone was courteous and genuinely friendly. The food was so well-prepared and delightful. The coconut dessert was just gorgeous, with a perfect melding of subtle flavours.
We started with the mussels with pommes frites, he had the sable fish, and I had the lamb. The presentation is so meticulous and the flavours blended so nicely together.
It's so awesome when your eyes can appreciate the food as much as your taste buds!
Bishops is a gold standard for dining out. Everything has always been excellent and I'm sorry it's closing. It is very pricey but if that doesn't bother you, hurry and visit while you still can.
It was a real treat to re-visit Bishop's again, even with the necessary CV19 measures in place. The service was as wonderful as always, and all the menu options were very appealing. Make sure to save room for one of the dessert creations!
One of the best dinner experiences I've had in years. Food was so perfect, I wish I could go back every week. Service was excellent, genuine and on point. What a perfect place for a special night.
Incredible service and great food!
The food was so bland and disappointing. There could have been so many other restaurants I would rather spend $200 on. Starter of steak tartare was not seasoned and so pedestrian. Burrata salad was okay but nothing special. Sablefish entree was tiny, left us hungry. Cannelloni was like something that I can make up from the instant pot. Service was good but really wished I went somewhere else to celebrate anniversary.
Thanks again for a lovely dinner. We brought our kids, ages 17, 15 and 12 with us this time. It was the first fine dining experience for 2/3 (our 15 yr old foodie came with us last time) and I feel we have now created a monster! Our 12 year old kept tasting everyone’s food, exclaiming, ‘oh WOW, THIS is good, too!’ She says it was the best food she’s ever had in her entire life. Our autistic 17 year old, very picky and afraid to try new things, was brave and was rewarded with the experience of trying and loving everything he ate, reinforcing that he can discover new things he likes if he’s brave enough to try. Abel and staff were gracious hosts, as per usual. We missed saying hello to John and will definitely bring our kids back again, as it was a great family night out. Thanks so much!
