Bishops is our favourite place to go for special occasions, and when we just want a fantastic dining experience. The service is warm and attentive, and the food delicious. John Bishop is the most gracious of hosts.
Absolutely lovely experience. I am so glad Bishop's stayed open.
A memorable and intimate culinary experience with dedicated and professional staff and owner. Can't wait to return.
A wonderful evening with very good food. I can't wait to go again.
Bishops had a fine dining charm that seems to be lost in most restaurants today. There’s an etiquette, an ease, a proprietary that I adore about this restaurant. Oh and their food is utterly exceptional
Wonderful meal and we were made to feel welcome for a special night out
I had not been to Bishop’s for over 10 years. Not sure why. It was as good as I remember it. Excellent food and great friendly service. I will not wait so long to return.
Bishop’s is always an understated, outstanding dining experience. The food is thoughtfully prepared and presented. The service is professional but friendly.
We were so pleased to see John himself back at the restaurant, looking as young as ever! The chef and waitstaff were wonderful about our dietary restrictions and the service was just the right speed. I could have done with a lighter appetizer, but I definitely would go back.
Bishops is a nice intimate setting with few tables but great service and food. I would recommend it to others and look forward to returning in the future as this was our first time there.
Lives up to its reputation! Food is spectacular. We will be back.
Always special at Bishop's. Was our anniversary and we have been going there since it opened.
We were celebrating our friend’s retirement. From the moment we walked in the door, we were treated like royalty. As always, John Bishop came and chatted and was so generous. Our main courses were terrific and the wine list amazing. I had the Burnt Basque Cheesecake for dessert and without a word of a lie, it was the most magnificent thing I’ve ever tasted. The chef came out and chatted about how he created it and it truly made our evening. Thanks to all at Bishops. Please help keep this Vancouver icon going!
Excellent meal and wonderful attentive service; we always have a lovely evening at Bishop’s and it’s perfect for a special occasion.
Fantastic food excellent service and great ambiance.
That is Bishops.
As Michelin says worth the trip.
Always a pleasure to enjoy Bishops great ambience/food/service!
This is the top go to restaurant for me in Vancouver.
We had a most comfortable, enjoyable time at Bishops. The food was top notch. I loved the cold soup. The staff are friendly, relaxed yet efficient. We are so glad they have extended the closing date.
One of my favourites over the years. My husband passed away last year and I wanted to relive our good times by returning with my family.
Very warm staff but not intrusive or pretentious
We had a lovely dinner and Mr. Bishop and the staff made it a special evening for the 90th birthday we were celebrating.
Amazing service and overall experience. My partner has a nut allergy and we only told one person. However, we noticed that every staff member eventually knew he had an allergy so my partner didn't have to continue repeating himself. This is something so simple but it so effective in terms of service. The food was spectacular as well!
We were greeted immediately and brought to our table, we sat at the lower level near the stairs. Nice ambiance and well set table. We were presented with hummus on a crisp as a treat. We were served water and cocktails, the Cosmos was delicious. I had the special spot prawn dish, it was served whole in a garlic sauce that was delicious, my husband had the ceviche. He had the Halibut for his entree which he raved about, the pistachio sauce paired perfectly with the fish. My tenderloin had a perfect crust and absolutely melted in my mouth. Dessert was Death by Chocolate and yes it was. We enjoyed the entire experience. $$$$. I will be back it’s no wonder it’s an institution in Vancouver. Great staff also
WE CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
Everything was wonderful. The cheesecake was heaven
Our favourite restaurant in the city. Always incredible food, always impeccable service.
Jon Bishop’s is a must for the foodie. And will not disappoint. We have been there many times and have been so happy each time. The service is impeccable.
I’ve run out of superlatives to describe this wonderful, timeless institution in Vancouver. Food is consistently prepared and presented to perfection (this time fresh oysters, wild mushroom risotto, rack of lamb, and Basque cheesecake), by a team of service staff who will spoil you and make you feel important—even when you’re not! LOL. In Vancouver, there’s always someplace new to try, but for me, this is the place that never gets old.
This is our favourite restaurant ,we have being going there for the last twelve years on family birthdays, anniversaries, and any other excuse we can think of we go .just love this place ,and will be very sorry when dear mr Bishop has to retire.
Great food. Comfortable intimate space. Staff was very attentive they worked like a team. Everybody was involved in serving bussing reccomending and engaging with us. Oysters were incredible, Crab cakes were very good, The Foie Gras was outstanding, Very good Beef tenderloin, Halibut was good, The Rack of Lamb was incredible. Desert was exceptional, The Cheesecake is baked in a spanish style and is the beat we have ever had. Hats off to the staff and Chef! Really good experience. Will reccomend. Thanks for a nice birthday dinner.
Dinner at Bishop’s has been on our bucket list for ages and we thought we’d missed out last year when it was announced that they were closing and then of course the pandemic hit. But hooray for Mr. Bishop to stay on and the return of indoor dining! Attentive, friendly service, a charming space and incredible food - from the amuse bouche to the last bite of Burnt Basque Cheesecake, it was a fabulous evening. And the crowning touch was a mid-dinner visit from Mr. Bishop himself, welcoming us to his beautiful restaurant. We’ve already made plans to return for our anniversary later this year!
Always an excellent wining and dining experience. Awesome date night atmosphere.
It was great to come to a renowned Vancouver establishment. Thanks for not retiring!
The staff at bishops know how to get it right every time
Amazing as always
Great service. Delicious food. What’s not to love?
Classic. It’s great to be back.
Food was exceptional and so was the service! I had the beef tenderloin and it was probably the best I have ever had. My husband had the halibut and it was cooked perfectly. Portions were generous too.
Bishops is a great restaurant and a veritable institution. John Bishop is gracious and welcoming. He has great chefs who make spectacular food. Even on re-opening, the service was wonderful. Extra touches like an amuse bouche and palette cleanser, make the meal an event, even if we are just in and out quickly for a one course meal. We will be back soon for a three course dinner with wine.
What a nice neighborhood restaurant! Everyone was very welcoming. Excellent food and service. Still a gem !
