Bis on Main Ratings and Reviews
Enjoyed a Christmas lunch here for almost 2.5 hours sipping a beautiful bottle of Argyle Champagne. Our service was excellent; attentive but not too much so. As usual food was great! We both ordered the black cod and finished with their chocolate souffle. Most importantly it was quiet enough to really enjoy conversation. In an era when so many restaurants are loud and crammed with people, Bis on Main continues to provide a superb dining experience across the board.
Food: This was my first time at Bis on Main and it was very good. My filet was cooked close to order and my date wasted no time finishing her plate of fish.
Atmosphere: We were sat at 7pm and the place was packed by 730pm. It did get noisy with couples on either side of our table. Don't expext a cozy, private experience during peak times.
Price: Between the two entrees, salad, drinks, and desert our final check was north of $150 plus tip. Definitely a special occassion kind of place.
Overall: 4.5/5 stars for me.
Another fabulous dinner at Bis!! Two of us had the special Sea Bass and the other two enjoyed the Black Cod. Both were excellent and done to perfection. The side dishes are always the perfect companion. Bis is our go to spot for every day dining as well as special occasions. They never let us down!!
We went there for my birthday and because it was recommended by a chef friend. I eat a ketogenic (low carb, high fat) diet and the menu was perfect. I had foie gras for an appetizer and the duck for an entree. The foie gras could have been cooked a tad more, but it was great and so was the duck. Although I’d never been there before the owner and wait staff made us feel like family and the service was exemplary! I highly recommend this for any occasion and would definitely go back!
We decided to try Bis on Main this past Friday night. We were seated by the owner Joe Vilardi, a very charming man. Wow, what a delicious dinner both of us enjoyed. My husband and I started off the meal with caesar salads. I had the Miso Marinated Black Cod that was delectable. The preparation of the Cod with the forbidden rice along with all the herbs was so good. My husband had the oysters and is still talking about how good they were. His entree was the Pan Roasted Sea Scallops. He enjoyed every bite of this gorgeous dish. As a special treat we shared the Ricotta Gnocchi, a side dish that was wonderful. We also shared a bottle of wine from the extensive selection offered at Bis on Main. We are already talking about our next visit.
One of the worst experiences I have ever had in the Seattle region, prices are extremely steep and maybe it’s understandable seeing it’s in Bellevue but for $26 rigatoni Bolognese I expect fresh homemade pasta. Instead what was served was a disgusting sweet sauce that tasted like it had been sitting out throughout the day, overly sweet, lacking flavor or depth and pasta straight from a grocery market.
The heirloom tomato and mozzarella salad was lackluster at best, Miele tomatoes and store bought deli mozzarella where foul to taste. It took over 49 minutes to receive of appetizers and their excuse was their was only one raw guy for oysters. We had six horribly small oysters.
The pork chop was covered in a red wine reduction that was so over cooked they only recognizable taste was sweet wine.
I will say the only thing that was good was the wine. In all a rather poor experience from a very expensive restaurant. I have no problem paying for good food but this was not close to the experience we were hoping for to celebrate.
Great food! Our server was more than a little pushy trying to get us to drink more alcohol. Menu has a wide variety of options - everything was very fresh. Conversation was difficult at times because it was so loud. Great energy in the place, not stuffy at all. Would highly recommend.
Bis on Main has always been one of the few excellent restaurants on the Eastside and it just got better as they’ve officially added a vegan dining entree based on what’s market fresh! Great servers who are knowledgeable and professional and a lovely dining room. Super nice wine list too.
For our 46th anniversary, we had dinner at Bis on Main. In all respects, the dinner was outstanding. We both had the veal chop special, accompanied by a delicious bread pudding and vegetables. It was a large chop with a delicious sauce; we took home leftovers. Our server was attentive, professional, and very helpful as we navigated the large wine list. The atmosphere is "cozy and comfortable." We enjoyed the decor with original art on the walls. It is expensive but for a special occasion, such as an anniversary, well worth it.
Nice place...but a bit like going back to an 'old fashioned' white table cloth restaurant in Chicago's Loop district, deja vu of the 70s and 80s. Nevertheless Bis does what it does very well for its own particular time and space. More generally there are some very distinctive and good restaurants on Old Main Street in Bellevue - all quite different eating experiences and Bis epitomizes well the breadth of dining choice in the area.
A lovely place to have lunch or dinner. The atmosphere is relaxed and the food is excellent. The staff and owner are delightful and attentive without being annoying . The bar is friendly and the cocktails are good. During the warm months, there is outdoor dining where the people watching is fun but there’s is some street traffic. One of my favorite go-to places for a great meal and quiet atmosphere.
