Birravino Ratings and Reviews
Being 100% Italian, I am quite critical of and rarely will go to any Italian food restaurant. My family and I ended up making reservations and going to this restaurant because it was close to a venue in Red Bank and had good on-line reviews. I can honestly say that this is the best Italian food I have had at a restaurant, ever. I would gladly take the hour drive from my house to have dinner here again, without having the venue to go to afterwards. It was that good.
I am not one to write a response or complain, but I appreciate reading reviews and hopefully this will help others. We had to wait to be seated 1 hour after or our reservation time. We would have left, but the hostess kept saying only a few minutes until we will be seated as soon as we arrived. Well, a few minutes turned into an hour. After waiting to be seated, the manager never came to our table to apologize for the ridiculous wait. The appetizers were good. The waiter ordered the wrong pizza though, and was honest about it, and he did get us a new one (which, of course, we had to wait for) and that was taken off our bill by the manager. Our main dinner was not well prepared. The pasta was very undercooked and very hard in texture. The short ribs were cold when served. I was extremely disappointed and will not be returning. I never expected to wait an hour to be seated when I made reservations days in advance. I wish the food made up for the long wait, but it did not. I also feel that the hostess should have been upfront and honest about the wait time or the manager came and talked to us. This way, we could have left and gone somewhere else.
One word AMAZING!!!
Try some variety... a couple of apps, at least 1 pizza, a pasta and an entree. We all shared everything and I can't imagine only eating one dish, since the flavors in everything were awesome! And the specials... you will change your mind 3 times before the waiter finishes reciting the day's list of the chef's novelties.
This was our second visit in the same week, and while the food was still excellent, the service was not good at all this time. Our reservation was very early, New Year's Eve. Our waitress did not check on us to see how our meal was or to refresh our drinks and seemed to be rushing us out before offering us dessert. Also, the music from the speaker above our table was extremely loud. Had to request they lower the volume so we could have a conversation. Based on our past two visits, the food is amazing, but they need to work on the service and the noise.
We went to Birravino to try some of their home brews and Italian cuisine. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable and helpful to my friend who eats gluten free. While they did not have gluten free bread or pasta, there were still several options for her. We were disappointed in the beer but everything else was delicious. They take some Italian classics and make them out of this world with flavor. All guests were happy with their meals. Desserts were worth a taste too!! We will be coming back.
Food was delicious but the service was far from acceptable. We waited more than 45 minutes for our reservation. We waited in the bar but it took more than 25 minutes to flag down a server in the bar and get a drink. When we finally got our table, our waiter was very good but so overwhelmed that he was struggling. Food was great but the management needs to commit to their service and staff appropriately.
We brought our family of five (3 from out of town) in for a lovely Christmas Eve dinner. Everyone loved their meals & the wine. Favorites included the brussel sprout appetizer, bolognese, and Chicken limòn. The service was attentive & well informed and we were not rushed even though we knew they wanted to close early and let their staff get home to families for the holiday! Can’t wait to return soon.
As always the food at Birravino was delicious. It’s always a bit loud in there, so don’t expect an intimate gathering. I tried the Sole Oreganata special.....it didn’t disappoint. I love starting with a margherita Pizza.....dining companion tried the chicken franchaise.
We go here a lot and it has been going down hill for a while now. We both ordered chicken parm and it came out cold. We sent it back and they bought it back out and it was clear they had thrown it in microwave and recovered it with sauce. We used to enjoy going here but I doubt we will be back. Microwaved chicken and pasta is not something I am interested in paying 26 dollars for. Used to be worth it but not anymore.
The reservation process is horrendous. Got there early so checked in and had a drink at the bar while the rest of my party arrived. Hostess said no problem let me know when everyone is here. Party arrived at the reservation time , went to hostess and she said we had to wait for a table to be available. We waited 20 minutes and only because I made a pest of myself did we get seated. Why make a reservation if you still have to wait 20 minutes? Food and service was outstanding but definitely need some improvement on reservations
Birravino is one of our favorite local eateries ... but this visit was distinctly "off." We were seated at a high-top table, though we are "regulars" and our dislike of dining on barstools is known to those in charge ... none of whom were on duty this evening. The noise level has always been a problem, and was cacophonous at 6 pm on a Sunday evening. Service is usually good (from waitstaff who know us), but not this evening (from a new staff member). The chicken minestrone (a special) was more stew than soup, lacking in flavor. The chicken limon (a favorite, and a "special" that's always available anyway) was off as well - lacking flavor; no longer served with a side of green beans. The wine list is a major attraction - but this evening, our bottle of Terre Nere Etna Bianco arrived at warm room temperature ... took 45 minutes and a request for more ice in the bucket to make it drinkable. One negative experience won't deter us, but we are uneasy. Problems in the kitchen? Hope for better.
