This was a trip for food after the ballet at the Hobby Center and we were not disappointed. The food was good. The service was attentive but not overbearing. The ambiance is great. I'll come here after a show again soon!

The service was poor to say the least. We could not flag down our waiter. He was slow with food service, forgot to serve us our salads in advance of receiving our main course, served my wife a lukewarm cup of coffee. The waiter was by our area often enough however he would only do the task he had at hand and would not acknowledge or look at the other tables he was serving. I guess this ensured he would not have to respond to his other customers needs. When I finally got my bill and it was returned to me for signature, my credit card was missing. I got up and found the waiter and he had my credit card in another tables check folder along with their credit card. This was a huge error on his part. This was not the only poor waiter. The elderly couple that was next to us at a table for two had their waiter put their meals on their table and without even looking at them he walked off. They did not have silverware to eat with and the waiter had scurried off to become invisible just like our waiter. We had two extra sets of silverware at our table and I got up and gave them to the couple as I was sure they would not see their waiter again until the food was cold.

It wasn’t as good as I remembered. We use to be regulars when my husband and I both worked downtown Years ago. The food was a little better than average, but nothing special. We have our favorites we ordered in the past - lasagna and fettuccine Alfredo . Our service was average too. She was a little unsure of herself and timid which doesn’t really make for a great waitress. This may sound like a funny complaint, but they had music playing on a loop that was the same three artist over and over. Maybe we expected to much after being an old favorite!

This place is not really a "dining" place as the food is just average and the ambience has not been updated since about the '80's. Went before a theater performance, but probably won't be back. It feels old and tired and uninspired when Houston has so many better options.

Food is OK, service often slow.
Main advantage is close proximity to theatres.

The waiter took our order, brought out the wine. And then we didn't see him again till after our food was delivered and it took a long time for our food to come out. This might not have seemed so long but....when ordering, the waiter recommended the garlic bread - we agreed with the suggestion, but the garlic bread never came out to our table. Now, by the time our entree's made it to the table the food was cold. This is the first time that I can remember where both my wife & I sent our plates back. Ultimately the food did eventually make it back to our table and was at a decent temperature. Last comment - the flavor of our food was ok but by no means up to the standard I remember as Birraporetti's .

This was a nice place. I was happy to get a reservation at 10:45 pm. They where nice when I walked in even though they didn't know about my Open table reservation. The drinks we got where good and the food was delicious. I felt like I should have gotten bread with my basic pasta for 13$. I would go again to try out other options.

This was a pre-concert meal, drove in from TX City, that was the only problem. I-45 was down to one lane around Park Place almost thought we would be late for our 6:30 reservation. We made it at 6:15 pm. After parking in the underground lot we came out right on the corner by Birraporetti's. Walk half a block and entered. Mentioned my name and we were led to a nice table that sat back from entrance and was up off the floor. Great location to see all going on and not in the flow of public. Noise level was moderate but that is to be expected on a pre-concert meal. Now for the wait staff etc. All that was great. As crowed as it was everything came in a timely manner. We did have an appetizer and my only complaint would be that the entree came just a few minutes after the appetizer. But in the long run that is ok since we were on a time limit. The taste of the food was excellent and well presented. I will definitely return when I plan another trip to Houston for a concert.

Seating was not smooth. Front desk may have been short-handed. It was a very busy traffic night and not usual to wait with reservations. Otherwise, food was good and service got us out timely for Symphony.

We find the location convenient when we go to the Alley Theatre and always stop for a bite before the show. I used to come here and other locations (when they existed) for business. You can count on excellent food preparation and taste. This time the service was a little slow, but there was a big catch-up when the food came for four tables at once. Generally, that is not the case. We've sampled much of the menu (all good), but I like the "special" pizza the best. The large is a great bargain and I always have a little to take home. I just take it up to the car on the way to the theatre.

Very good American Italian food. Always a welcoming and friendly atmosphere, with very good service. We particularly enjoy going here before one of the performing arts performances in the theater district.

We visited Birraporetti's for a pre -Ballet dinner. We arrived a few minutes early and were promptly seated. I ordered the Lobster Ravioli and Crab Cakes from the Theatre Menu, my wife and daughter ordered from the regular menu. Our meals arrived promptly and were superb. Cocktails and wine were reasonably priced. It's also across the street from the Wortham, making it the best choice for the ballet for convenience as well as the food.

First and to be fair there were 26 members of our group when we dined at Barraporetti's last night. We had reservations after a performance at the Wortham Center. We were seated in the basement of the restaurant meaning that our food was served cold. I requested a glass of wine but had to remind the waitress three times before losing my cool. Because the service was so poor, we were there for 3 1/2 hours and left without getting the ordered desserts. Only one waitress was assigned to serve our three tables. I have previously dined at Barraporetti's and the food was always good but they were completely unprepared for our visit and management owes the residents of The Grand Parkway an apology.

We always dine here before theatre, ballet, symphony, blues events, all within one block's walking distance in the heart of Houston's Theatre District. This restaurant, and its previous locations, have been popular for more than thirty years. Delightful ambiance, menus and service. Birraporetti's familiar slogan is a keeper... "Great Italian restaurant; and heck of an Irish bar."

Biaporetti's is our destination for downtown dining before a performance in the theater district. They understand the time constraints without making us feel rushed. They even kept our take-home box in the fridge for us to pick up after the performance. It's also good if you prefer to eat after-theater. I love 'em.

I have eaten there many time and it has always been worth the money. It has been 6 months since my last visit and we found the food terrible. We ate the Sunday brunch and the food was cold and the selection was not as it was in the pass. The wine was undrikable and the coffee tasted as if they reheated the leftover from the night before. The waitress was courtious and did the best she could. When my wife spoke to the manager she was told "I have worked here 9 Years and nothing has changed over that time there". I find it appalling a manager would not at least act as if he cared. There are too many Great restaurants in Houston with a Sunday morning brunch for me to ever go back to Birraporetti's for any type of meal.

This is a good choice because it's right in the theatre district. My chicken breast looked dry and awful when it arrived (how about a little butter or something, folks!), but it tasted all right. Also no butter or sauce on the dry mashed potatoes. Not my first choice for a great meal, but location, location, location -- as they say in the real estate business -- keeps the place busy. It's great for an after-show drink, though.

Our server was a bit of a dingbat. She asked twice what kind of vodka for the martini. Took 15 minutes to get the drinks from the bar. Wife's manicotti with Italian sausage had a good marinara, but the sausage itself was grainy. My shrimp Diablo was over cooked, but again the sauce was good. & why did we have to pay for bread at an Italian restaurant? Overall, there's several other places I'd rather spend my time & money.
