Yes! fabulous brunch, one of the members of our party did lose a wallet and the hostess was less than nice/understanding about me coming back to look for myself, speak to the waiter or her taking my phone number if she finds it. Thanks for ruining the whole experience. Just double check your items before you leave here & they included gratuity.
Some of the dishes were very good, for example the steak medalion special was well prepared and very tasty. The peppered sirloin was so tough it was difficult to enjoy the flavor or chew. Very poor dish. The Red Fish was excellent though I found the risotto a bit over-powering. They were out of all Cabernets; had no cabernet! Our wait-person was charming and very good but probably had too many tables to attend. We loved the location and the ambiance! Overall, an enjoyable evening despite the above.
I ordered the Steak Frites. It was a very tough piece of meat, despite being cooked medium rare. The bar service was very slow. Our waitress was very apologetic and prompt. There were plenty of open tables but others who did not have reservations were told there would be an hour wait (6:45 arrival time). It was a nice atmosphere, but the food was a disappointment.
Food was pretty decent and waitstaff was friendly. The hummus was good and so was the stout pot pie. The chocolate cake was below average. Our waiter was friendly and helpful (I think his name was Zach?). The outdoor setting is nice to sit and watch people while enjoying the Christmas decorations in Sundance Square.
Didn’t have proper ingredients for one of the featured cocktails.
The food was like warm at best, the service took awhile before someone came to the table. The food caused one member of our party to be sick later that night.
We sat for 10 minutes before someone brought us water, and another 20 before someone noticed we were trying to flag them down to find out waiter. A kind waiter who was not serving our area attended to us, and soon after the person who was supposed to be attending to our table came over to apologize and said she “didn’t see us sitting there.” Our food came quickly once we ordered, but my pot pie dough was completely raw on the bottom. We had to leave quickly to get to a show as we were set back by about 30 minutes from not being served. This was our second visit, and we will not be back.
A favorite place to dine before the theater in downtown Fort Worth. The atmosphere, food, and service are uniquely terrific and we never feel rushed or find ourselves late to the evening curtain.
Food and service is always great!!
Service and ambiance was excellent! However, our Turkey hash was barely warm, almost cool in fact. We gave the benefit of the doubt due to the chilled cranberry sauce within. Also, would have been nice if our meal had been accompanied by fresh bread and butter. Would try once more.
What a gem in Fort Worth. Outstanding food combined with the historic building and wonderful ambiance, we are definitely coming back and telling others.
Waitress was not aware of available plates, we kept ordering and she would come back to say it wasn’t. We ordered steak medium well, it came medium rare and then well done... dessert was good.
Our time at the bird cafe was great and Amanda was awesome as always!
Always love going to Bird Cafe for brunch. Great location, staff, food and just overall have always had a great experience.
Jacob our server was great and attentive! Ribeye was tough and under cooked, chicken was dry. Shrimps and grits was awesome with jalapeño gravy! Quail appetizer was very good! Only craft beers so beware! Great ambiance and outdoor patio!!
Evening out before a concert. Perfect place to start a date. Catch up or just great conversation. Not rushed
Devonte was amazin! The other staff were nice and helpful as well.
This was our first time here. The ambience, both inside and outside, is nice. The menu isn’t extensive, but has some unique items. We had the Sundance salad, shrimp and grits and roasted chicken. Everything was very tasty. Seemed reasonably priced for what you get. Wine list is decently priced as well. The only downside was the service being very slow, with no extra folks helping pour water and remove dishes. To be fair, I think our server had tables outside and inside, which didn’t seem smart. It was a Saturday night so that didn’t make sense. We would give it another try.
I had the Half roasted chicken and vegetables. They brought out 2 led’s with thighs attached. I guess you could call that half a chicken. The chocked was greasy and didn’t have crispy skin. The vegetables were under cooked. My friend had the grilled shrimp and grits. Not great.
Always an enjoyable stop pre-Bass Hall. Great food & prompt service!
Great place to have both brunch and dinner. Great atmosphere! Wonderful service. Delicious food.
Went in on a Sunday for lunch, but they were only serving brunch. No problem, food was tasty drinks were delicious. Highly recommend.
I want to love Bird Cafe! The atmosphere, near to the symphony, Sundance Square. We had brunch on Sunday before the symphony and it was a beautiful day! There seems to always be that little something missing or just not right. This day it was the eggs. I had the waffles with apples and they were great. I ordered a scrambled egg on the side and it was a rubbery cold mess. My husband had poached eggs soft, but they were hard, very overcooked. Come on, eggs 101!
Fun. We sat outside.
Our final place to end girls weekend! We loved it and will be back!
The online menu is deceptive, and the food is subpar for the price. You’re paying for the location more than the meal itself. Portions are very small and the flavor is not life changing. We were disappointed in the quality of our meal. The o my bright spot was the hummus and our nice server.
Sunday morning we booked a reservation via OpenTable for a late afternoon lunch at Bird Cafe for six people. We arrived at the restaurant 15 minutes before our reservation and informed the hostess that our party was there. The hostess was unable to find our reservation and immediately became rude and unwilling to accommodate. Luckily, another hostess approached the situation much more calmly and respectfully. Thanks to this hostess, she was able to get us a table in the matter of minutes! Once we were seated, the service was okay, the server wasn't checking on us as much as we expected, considering half the tables were empty! They also ran out of syrup which led to a dry serving of the waffles. However, the Mother and Child Reunion was delicious!
Great food and ambiance
The food is usually outstanding! I had the Duck and Dumplings again this visit and was sad because the recipe had changed. It was still good, just in a broth that was a different flavor and slightly bland compared to previously. The Wedgie salad is absolutely delicious and I also highly recommend any of the cocktails!
Service was terrible and new menu very limited. We are fairly regular customers and were disappointed.
Everything was wonderful!
Perfect dining choice for a special date!
great place for breakfast or brunch. the drinks and service was awesome and the food was so delicious.
Have been going to this restaurant for over 5 years at least every 6 months. It’s eclectic and not like anything else you’d find... if you’re looking for something different this is a great spot.
We were very disappointed to see the menu change with decreased dishes to share. Not too sure if we are happy with the new chef. The service was great, but the food a disappointment.
Always an incredible experience at Bird Cafe! This was our first visit since the chef change and was very happy to find the quality was still right up there. Noise level rated as moderate simply due to sitting outside (but definitely worth it).
The Bird Cafe is in the historic (circa 889) Victorian Land Title Block building on the opposite corner from Bass Hall with windows facing E 4th Street and a very large patio facing Sundance Square. Dining is offered on the patio, but the atmosphere is VERY casual, so we opted to eat in the rustic upstairs dining room.
Our server was friendly and very knowledgeable on the menu choices. We started with The Hungry Farmer Board, a Charcuterie consisting of salami, prosciutto, and cheese loaf with brie, Havarti, and jalapeno white cheddar along with a sprinkling of fresh fruit. To be honest, it was the highlight of the meal with the salami and brie being stand outs. Paired with a good Cab, I could have munched on that the entire evening.
For our entrees my wife ordered the Barramundi (Asian Sea Bass) Filet served with perfectly prepared fresh spinach, a rich consume, and a lacy and delicate hazelnut tuile. I had the “surf the good news being you and a partner can split an appetizer, and perhaps order a salad and not end up going home with tomorrow’s lunch in a takeout box. We had a flourless chocolate cake for desert which was dense, moist and thoroughly enjoyable.
Also, upstairs is a patio lounge and fire pit for cocktails and conversation overlooking Sundance Square. It was a beautiful evening, so we retired there after dinner and enjoyed the view and the dancing flames.
A very nice evening. The Bird is a good choice for dinner anytime, but would make a superb pre/post Bass Hall retreat.
Again, an excellent meal. Great server recommended the daily special - shrimp and steak with sides of mashed potatoes and asparagus. All well prepared. We'll be back again.
Good southern cooking type food with good selection. Would like more choices for dessert. Excellent service.
The food and cocktails were great but it took several minutes for anyone to come over after we were seated. After that it was great!
