Bird Cafe Ratings and Reviews
The restaurant has a very neat atmosphere. Much quieter than a lot of the restaurants downtown, so a great place for conversation. Service was prompt and attentive. Our waiter, Joey, guided us through the menu and we were happy with all his suggestions. Overall, a great evening. Menu is unique, so the food stands out.
I never write bad reviews, but my husband and I agreed that our experience was so poor that we had to leave feedback. We arrived early for our reservation, since we had come from out of town. There were MANY open tables, since it was before 6:00. The hostess refused to seat us. She kept saying the kitchen was locked, or something to that effect, because they were busy. We said we didn’t mind waiting to order, if we could just sit and get some water and wait for the kitchen to start taking orders again. She very rudely refused and told us to leave and come back later. So we went outside and sat on a bench for 25 minutes. We should have left and gone elsewhere.........
Dinner was average at best. Food also thrown on plates without any regard for presentation. For example we ordered deviled eggs and they came on a plate with no garnish- just comically rolling around by themselves on a large oval plate. We got our own silverware from other tables. We hardly saw our poor waiter. And I agree with another reviewer who said the tables were too small. There were only 3 of us and we had to struggle to fit everything on the table. This place gets very good and very bad reviews. We gave it the benefit of the doubt because of it’s location on the Square and are very sorry we did. Go someplace where they want your business. Poor management in my opinion. And the whole time we were there, they still had many open tables...
I selected Bird Cafe for a special holiday lunch for my staff given it’s location near Sundance Square. It was a warm December day and we asked to eat on the patio. I think that was a mistake. The table was dirty and small for the party of 6 that made up our group. The service was slow and the waitress clearly bored and unhappy with her job. I ordered a chicken sandwich and it was terrible — ground chicken that was dry and mealy. Thank goodness for the fries. Others lunches looked better but we all had the same slow, apathetic service. Dessert saved the day, gratefully. Very disappointed in what I had hoped would be a nice lunch for my deserving team.
I would not at all recommend this restaurant to anyone. Let's start with the service: we arrived on time and they promptly seated us. The good stops right there. We waited for at least 10 minutes for anyone to come introduce themselves and then take our drink order. The bottle of wine was delivered and the waitress took our order but one of the questions we had was regarding the asparagus. We were told that the stalks were diced and it was a mix of stalks and tips, about a 50/50 blend so one of us went with that. We also ordered Caesar salads and there was virtually no dressing on any of them. After seeing our waitress NOT ONCE in 30 minutes, our food was finally delivered to us-COLD. And I mean COLD. Not just one dish but all of them. The brussel sprouts had been sitting so long that the cream had solidified, attaching the sprouts to the plate. The steak was cold, the chicken was cold, and none of these plates were supposed to be served cold, yet they were. They had obviously been sitting somewhere for quite some time. And the asparagus? One tip, the rest stalks. Dicing is obviously a trick to try to include more stalks instead of showing you exactly what you are getting. I think the food could have been good, but the fact remains that it wasn't. Who settles for "Could have been good"? shouldn't.
We had an unpleasant experience at Bird Cafe for the second time. When we ordered, we were told my husband's lamb would take 45 minutes, which we said was fine. We ordered wine and appetizers, and then the main courses came instead in 15 minutes. The lamb was basically raw, and totally inedible. My fish tasted "fishy", either an old piece or one that had been frozen and badly handled. The server did not bring my dinner wine until after I was completely finished with my food. He did graciously offer us a dessert because of the problems with the meal and wine, however, we will not be returning to the Bird Cafe.
This place is awesome and so is the staff and waiter team. On this past saturday my family and I got together with over 20 + people for a brunch and gift exchange. The staff did an AWESOME job of accommodating us and making sure we were all able to be seated in the same area. This was last minute for us and not well planned, but Bird Cafe staff made it come together flawlessly. BIG THANKS to Kaylee the hostess and waiters Zach, Amanda and Kendall. I will def be returning to this restaurant.
Enjoyed brunch very much. My friend and I shared a sweet and savory dish. We had the lemon ricotta pancakes, and the benedict creole. The creole was outstanding, and very different, which is what I look for...something you can't just get anywhere. But the lemon ricotta pancakes were overdone. Just a little too dark for my taste. Sat outside and watched the people in Sundance square while enjoying hibiscus mimosas...which were delish! Overall great meal, and will go back.
Tragic at best. I would avoid this place like the plague. They take advantage of their location and all of their waitstaff could care less about true customer service. The food is mediocre they only thing that they have going for them is an excellent location and a unique dining room
It took forever to get a drink menu then it took forever to get a glass of wine. We ordered our appetizer of hummus which took forever to get then our food came out immediately so the hummus got cold and nasty while we ate our food. My chicken was raw and BLEEDING. When the waiter finally showed back up he tried to make excuses after saying he didn't want to make excuses, but when he saw the blood he took it back to the kitchen. He comped the chicken, but I feel the hummus should've also been comped since it got gross and was no longer enjoyable.
We can never say enough good things about Bird Cafe. It is simply one of our favorite places for any sort of special night out. The food is outstanding and the service staff are always friendly and eager to answer any questions. Inside or outside seating, you just can’t go wrong!
Sad to say, this was our first and will be our only visit to Bird Cafe. Lovely restaurant and great location for pre or post Bass Hall evening. Upon arrival, we were escorted to a table next to a service area, so we asked for a booth nearby but in a less heavily traveled area. There were only three tables inside with diners, but they still refused our request to move to a booth. I don’t care how good the food is at a dining spot(and it was average at best), refusing a simple request is enough to send me elsewhere. As a side note, the items on the menu were nothing imaginative and the prices were quite high for the quality. There are many fine restaurants in Fort Worth that are far superior and much friendlier.
We enjoyed the outdoor patio. The meal inside was creative, but disappointing. I think they need a more extensive menu, with the goal of pleasing a wider range of appetites. While I consider myself somewhat of a foodie, my meal just wasn't very satisfying. My companions were only mildly impressed. Loved the building and ambiance, but felt the food didn't deliver.
