Very nice spot in DT St. Petersburg with view of the water and exceptional food and service. Somewhat pricey for some items, but worth it. I highly recommend it.
This is your average over-priced restaurant that imagines itself to be much better than it is. We have dozens of these in the Tampa Bay Area.
Always meets and/or exceeds my expectations! Love Birch & Vine!!!
Great menu, nice experience outdoor option.
Our meal was very good and we had a really good waiter. The ambiance was good, nothing special and overall the service was very good. We were able to snag a coupon for a half price bottle of wine which was nice.
Was really disappointed in the food. No of us were able to finish our meals
The last two times I’ve eaten at this place I would say the food quality was less than eating at a chain such as bonefish.
When I went there last night the whole place was so loud and had so many large tables of drunk people that’s you could hear the server or have a conversation with someone sitting beside you. Food and ambiance is the reason the reason why I chose this restaurant it’s normally nice quiet good service and great food. But last night my strip tasted like it had been microwaved and had absolutely no flavor. My dates fillet was not much better and the selection of sides were unacceptable and very limited.
I made a reservation, and we were seated greater than 30 minutes after our reservation time. Poor planning by Birch and Vine.
Patrons were so loud, we could not comfortably enjoy our dinner. Patrons were rude, noisy and underdressed.
My steak was not prepared correctly nor was it what I expected. I do not mind paying a little more for fine dining, but this experience was positively substandard.
Overall, a horrible dining experience.
Disappointing. Slow service even though not busy. Waiter gave us wrong bill. Water glass had huge vertical crack. Ice tea tasted like coffee.
Sat outside. Big mistake. Felt like I was in a parking lot. For the price food was not a good value. Eddie V's and Ocean Prime blow this place away. There are better options out there.
Very disappointing with service and food . We went there on our 25 th anniversary and indicated on OpenTable but no recognition at all, The place was very.busy And the server took too long to ask us for a drink and my Tuna had a entire salt shaker put on it Why would you put that much salt on seared tuna
Very big disappointment and I wouldn't recommend
Have had 4 visits to B n V when we stay at the VINOY for our date nights .
The first two visits were exceptional service , great pre dinner drinks at the bar with bartender Tommy who makes great dirty martins, knowledgeable attentive staff, food timing was not rushed, food was amazing this was our go to restaurant every time we were in the area .
Our next two visits were over the last 4 months our most recent March 1st. 2018
Where to begin and giving credit where it’s due ... the hosts were personable and very pleasant... back to the bar tender Tommy who remembers you ... Professional and Personable... great Dirty Martini
Seat in our request Booth... our waiter was pleasant and then everything was off... timing was terrible
Appetizer arrived , no plates to share, no wine that we ordered, turns up 10 minutes later... Calamari was delicious till you worked into it where it had raw dough in the center ... then the bread basket an butter turned up... which we didn’t have a chance to try as it was removed with our appetizer
Ordered Fillet and Sirloin med/ well ... both turned up on a white plate with an artistic smear of burnt beef grease across the plate and no steak knives to eat the dish ...
A few minutes passed and steak knives appeared
That was it ... for $32 steak and nothing else ... then both were completely WELL DONE
Rest floor mgr asked us how our meal was when I cut into my steak I said to her does this look like MED/WELL... she apologized and had new steaks being cooked correctly... we also ordered sides at $8 each
root vegetables augratin which was way too al dente... potatoes rissoles which were not a RISSOLE but roasted fingerling potatoes ...
the NEW STEAKS did return and were cooked perfectly ... by which time we were over it all.
The restaurant wasn’t busy and felt that our waiter could have been more attentive knowledgeable.
I want to go back as I love the ambiance and location...
Indifferent service awful crab cake not terrible but not worth returning
A very desirable environment, but an extremely disappointing dining experience. There were four of us and two of the dinners were very good, but the other two were extremely over-cooked steaks. Both were ordered medium rare: one had a slight bit of pink and the other had no pink. They were dry and tough. Our server, who was otherwise quite good, left the room after we were served and we were unable to complain. When she returned we were all more than halfway through the meal and did not want replacement steaks that she offered. The complimentary dessert for the two of us could not compensate for the damper on our meal.
The waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable, great overall service. The environment was upscale and perfect for a nice date. The food was out of this world. The steak was perfect and the appetizers were unique and delicious. The wine selection was incredible. Only downside was their dessert menu, a little lacking.
We ate outside in front. The other tables were quite noisy and all tables are very close to valet so a lot extra banging and clanging of car doors. Besides that though, our service was very good and we really enjoyed our salads and main dish which was the vegaterian/vegan option called the Cruciferous. It had a great mix of flavors from the array of vegetables. It was a very creative dish. If we visit there again we would definitely consider eating there again if they continue to offer a veg only option.
We celebrated our 30th. Enjoyed the vibe. Went to the Canopy (rooftop bar) after dinner. Staff was very attentive.
One of the members of our party had ordered a filet done medium. When it arrived it was well done. The manager had another steak cooked properly, as well as comping her a glass of wine.
The roof top dining has a beautiful view of the Straub Park and Tampa Bay. The food was very good but definitely on the heavy side. The menu is limited but has all the essentials, sea food, steak and chicken options as well a vegetarian entree. We went early at about 6 pm and the crowd was minimal. Many people sitting out front but the inside restaurant and the roof top had plenty of room. I had the meatloaf stuffed with candied bacon and it was good solid comfort food. The food and location make an ideal restaurant to begin an evening of fun in downtown St. Pete.
The food was excellent! The service was somewhat lacking. Or should I say inattentive. Overall, it was a great evening!
Birch and Vine is one of “those” places that make you want to stay a while. The menu is eclectic and the food preparation often unexpected. The service is good and the ambiance welcoming- what more could anyone want? Try the pear and olive oil cake!
My friends and I did the Bubbly special in which you choose from a selection of bubbly wines and an appetizer from a limited list, and the bottle is 1/2 off. It was perfect! We chose the charcuterie plate and had a great time people watching on the terrace.
Excellent food. Did not get booth as requested. Did not get complimentary birthday dessert.
We dine in downtown St. Pete about twice a month and are always looking for good fine dining establishments. This one has that goal in mind but they need to work on some refinements that will come with experience. For now they have energy and creativity. I will try them again in about a month.
Very good food and service. But it's a little loud inside (when full). Seating is inside, outside (sidewalk), or patio. Inside and outside are managed separately (two separate hostess stations) and The patio is managed by the inside hostess station. The patio is the best spot. Where ever you want, be specific in your reservation.
We were expecting more. The server clearly forgot to enter part of our order. The food wasn’t very good.
Even with a reservation, it took 30 minutes to seat.
Unfortunately the restaurant majorly overbooked themselves on 2/14. Our reservations were for 7:15 and we weren’t seated until 8:30 out in the “courtyard” although we requested inside seating with the reservation. This courtyard was an outside area behind a partition where extra tables were set up next to a supply closet and elevator. Did not seem like a restaurant of their caliber would ever really seat people out there on a regular basis. The service (Olivia) once we were seated was great and very attentive — nothing pertaining to this review was her fault. The food was ok at best — pork tenderloin was tough. Just absolutely was not worth the prices and after the wait, felt the evening out was certainly not worth the price and the wait and the trouble to rush home from work, get dressed up and drive downtown. On a special occasion like this, you don’t want to complain but how disappointing to have made reservations well in advance to avoid this type of a wait with tons of people waiting with you and complaining to the hostess. Then to be seated in a courtyard where it appeared they just set up 6 extra tables due to massive overbooking. If we hadn’t agreed to a courtyard table, we would have waited much longer I’m sure. We would have left but it was Valentines Day so where else on Beach would we have gone without waiting? So we stuck it out. I have never submitted a bad review of a restaurant — I just wont say anything. But I think this is well worth mentioning and reporting as I really felt this was a situation where a restaurant slammed in as many reservations as they could to take advantage of a special “dining out” holiday like Valentines Day. I just won’t be back.
We were there for Valentines Day. Obviously a strain on the kitchen. My filet was perfect but my wife’s Salmon was over cooked. Nevertheless we enjoy the place.
Our reservation was made two weeks in advance. I received a call the week before about our choice of in or outdoors. I requested inside since we were unsure of the weather. Upon arrival I told the hostess we would sit outside if it was convenient. We were told 'we requested outside and they were setting our table'. Well, they set a table for two for our party of 4. We watched as they tried balancing the table on the uneven sidewalk and they were maneuvering the shrubbery to hide the the idling cars in the valet parking line. We expressed our discomfort with the setup. We observed that all tables on the walkway were tables for two, not four. We were then turned over to the inside hostess. She explained that they were 'waiting for a table to open up. One table was having desert'. My husband asked 'if it would be 5 or 10 minutes?' The hostess then said rudely 'our reservation was changed and they couldn't do anything and requested us to have a seat and wait'. A short time later a manager came buy and said a table opened on the outside porch, which is lovely. The young lady who witnessed the rude hostess apologized and so did the manager. The experience was enough for us to realize we will not return.
As always, the Birch & Vine has high-quality, inventive meals and a delightful atmosphere. The food and drinks are lovely, and even at its busiest, the Birch & Vine is still cozy. The special Valentine's Day menu was thoughtfully arranged, but their usual fare is equally enticing. Treat yourself to a cocktail. Trust me.
There were 6 of us and we had a small room all to ourselves. The wait staff was amazing! Attentive, friendly and a great vibe from everyone we encountered. Food was wonderful! A great evening.
Menu had dramatically changed for the worse. Although it was still early in the evening, they had run out of a regular item on the menu. Took my new broker there. Embarrassing experience. Shame because that was a regular go to place for me.
We loved this restaurant when it first opened. Food, presentation etc...brought friends etc. Wedge salad for $14 was terrible- old lettuce very little bleu cheese and poorly presented. Bone in Rib Eye, also very disappointing. Like a $8 supermarket cut- thin and almost tasteless. We will unlikely go back, too many other good choices. Service was mediocre at best.
We were the only people seated in the inside dining room when we were seated. The server was very outgoing. But it wasn’t until we asked that we were told the catch of the day was sold out. We were told by several people that the menu was new but that didn’t excuse the dessert we ordered being so different than described. The manager came and apologized and didn’t charge us. The waitress did not know anything about the white wines. She offered us a taste which we appreciated but in this type of restaurant, staff should know the options.
As far as food goes, the wedge salad was disappointing and while the tuna was cooked well and presented beautifully, the accompanying vegetables were served raw and cold. Not mentioned on menu or by the server. The scallops were excellent
Just rather bland. Food was ok but we were at bar for Super Bowl and they would not turn off the music and turn on the sound for the game.
The menu was very limited. The food was good but not much of a selection.
Day boat was so dried out it was not eatable . Mgr comped it but food use to be great don’t know what happened
We had a party of 6 for a birthday. All 6 entrees had to be sent back for being over cooked and or cold. They still only got 5 out of 6 cooked properly. Manager's excuse was that they had a large party even though the restaurant was only half full. We had dined here before and it was excellent. Service was at best mediocre. Will not be going back.
