Food was good, prices were high, service was pleasant but not meticulous (main courses not presented simultaneously), the setting was very modest, and the paper table covering inappropriate, particularly as it was not replaced after getting crumpled and stained with sauce.
Ambitious menu which fails to deliver on all counts. The staff and servers appeared disinterested on a Saturday night!!!! Asked for sparkling water which was not available, cold, on a day when the restaurant was half empty. We've been to the main restaurant in cave creek and were impressed but this one is a huge disappointment. I do not think we liked any dish including the starters.
Very nice atmosphere both inside and out. The road noise was moderate but distracting. The servicer was good, but admittedly new to the restaurant and didn't know the answers to most questions. I had the sand dabs, which were fine, but a little boring. My friends had the mahi and it was better. Would recommend and will go back soon to try out other dishes.
This is yet another Phoenix restaurant with unnecessary valet parking. I hate the prevailing thought that valet parking is a convenience. Bink's, North, Chelsea's Kitchen, Buck and Rider, St. Francis, Little Cleo's....the list goes on. Please, it is really annoying to have to wait 3,or 4 minutes for my car when I can see it 30' away.
Food is good but pricey compared to other similar restaurants in town. We were not offered any dessert because they wanted us out as quickly as possible, and when that still kept us in the restaurant (celebrating a birthday with 7 people), they turned the lights on and started cleaning to let us know that we really should be on our way (at 9.30 pm). For the kind of money that we spent, the least that we would expect is a certain level of professionalism/customer service. I sent them the same comment and no one bothered to even reply. None of us will ever be back there, too many other good options around for less money and better service.
Rated as one of the ten best places for brunch - Bink's Midtown was a disappointment. The Green Chile Pork was highly recommended with cheddar cheese bisquits. After a very long wait (diners around us received their meals much sooner and arrived later) the portion was small for the price. The bisquit was in recognizable and indistinguishable in color from the pork as it was cooked to a complete crisp. The taste of the pork was okay but not memorable. A companion ordered Eggs Benedict which were ok and came with homemade chips that had so much grease on them they were chewy.
Bink's is very close to home, which is always a plus. We were so pleasantly surprised by the eclectic menu. We tried a variety of things. The buckwheat biscuits topped with vanilla butter, yum. Loved the fries and dips and the mushroom soup. The Mixed Greens Salad was a great variety of ingredients for a very good price. Enjoyed the Pulled to Order Mozzarella with an excellent asparagus pesto. A couple of delicious craft beers and we were full. But, we carried on anyway, and split a burger. You have the option to order a double patty for an extra $6 bucks, which I would recommend as the single patty was a bit skimpy for such a big bun. The patty was cooked to our liking, but I felt they could have warmed up the bun a bit. Of course, from there we had to have dessert. I can't recall the name of the company that makes their ice cream, but the Cardamon ice cream and the Medjool Date ice cream were both excellent and big scoops as well. Our server Tiffany, was efficient and delightful. We had a great time at Bink's.
Good, almost great, food coupled with a lousy server made for an overall decent evening. The young guy serving us had no business in the front of the house while the bus boy, manager and bartender were all great. I'm confident most will enjoy the food. Service may be a crapshoot.
Small portions so we had to order a lot of food, but everything we had was outstanding. Pulled mozzarella was to die for. Great wine, nice romantic patio area with a fireplace, twinkle lights, and hedges blocking the street view/noise. Server was attentive and friendly. We will be back!
I always drive by Bink's and see how awesome it looks from the road. My wife and I tried it for the first time for our one year anniversary dinner and it was excellent. The ambiance and charm of Bink's is what caught our attention originally, but the food and service is what will keep us coming back. With an ever-changing menu and solid happy hour prices, Bink's is definitely a neighborhood gem I would recommend to anyone!
I had never been to a restaurant within the Binkley group. I originally planned to take my wife to Binkley's but settled on Bink's Midtown for Valentine's Day. I'm not a food critic and I'm far from picky, but it just did not live up to my expectations.
After dropping $220 on dinner for two, I expect to at least be motivated to go back. We eat at Steak 44, Capitol Grille, Tomaso's or even El Encanto Group and we can't wait to go back. After our experience, I can't even see a reason to try Binkley's and spend even more.
The food was far from spectacular. The service lacked follow-up and we mentioned that the crew seemed overwhelmed. If I were a chef with the success of Binkley, I would have been embarrassed to put my name on the meal we were served.
I don't like to be critical of the jobs people do because I wouldn't want people to see my mistakes each day. However, even if I feel badly reviewing harshly, I think consumers need to be careful where they spend their hard earned money.
This was our 3rd time at Bink's Midtown. The service has never been great but it does offer interesting and tasty dishes. However for our meal on Satuday, Feb 13, the service was unreasonably lax and when we asked for after dinner coffee our waiter simply responded with "we are out of coffee" and walked away. I can not see returning with the service we received on this visit.
There were only 3 other tables of guests this being a Tuesday evening. The food was very good but the service left some to be desired. A side dish was ordered but never served and the server was absent for most of the meal. Another visit is necessary it may have just been a bad night.
The freshness and creativity of the dishes here are outstanding. My kale salad was out of this world and my lunch companion raved about his roast beef sandwich. Service was terrific. The sloppy joe I had last visit was also stellar. And the fries! I could eat here every day.
The setting in this restaurant is cool. I love the free valet parking. But the food and service detract from what I enjoyed about the restaurant.
The young server lacked real knowledge about the menu, about how the items were prepared.
While the menu lists gluten free and vegan options, it's not really true. They just leave off the bread or omit cheese . I had a hamburger with no bun and no cheese served with wilted leaves of romaine on top. I could overlook that if the burger was great, but it wasn't. It was under seasoned and very ordinary.
The pulled pork dish my husband had made no sense as a main dish. The pork is served with two biscuits on top of it. The biscuits are not intended to use to make a sandwich. So you have this pot filled with pulled pork and nothing to eat with it. Conceptually, it didn't make sense.
Finally, It's expensive bad food.
Decor, layout, and ambiance were great. It's a great contrast of relaxed and stylish, with a lot of nice little touches, like a chalkboard sign at the entrance. We went during the winter, but the outdoor patio looks awesome as well. Service was courteous and not overdone. We were immediately wowed by the table bread: buckwheat biscuits with vanilla butter, which were a perfect contrast of earthy and sweet. Next up were mussels cooked in an coconut milk curry sauce--fantastic, right down to the accompanying focaccia to soak up the sauce.
Things took a turn with the entrees, however. My fiance ordered the burger and said it was just okay. I've been trying to eat vegan lately but there were no vegan options. Even the sides, soups, and salads relied heavily on cream-based sauces, cheeses, and cured meats. I finally settled on a salad with the cheese and meat removed. It was a soggy affair of romaine for $17 that wasn't nearly as good as a salad I could make at home. Perhaps it relied on the meat and cheese to carry it, but with a salad, vegetables should really be the star of the show.
Since the chalkboard sign at the entrance boasts "local vegetables," I would love to see a few more options on the menu where these vegetables were presented in a little more simplicity.
will we be found at this restaurant on New Years Eve. The only items that rated a "fair" label was the soup and dessert. Everything else was not palatable. The choice of the main entre was less than poor. Who enjoys eating a dish on a special occasion that is meant for day laborers. Please
- there just is no way of elevating beans and onions with rare pork - certainly not a choice if you
are after something special. There are plenty of dishes that could have been offered that are still reasonable but delicious. What a huge disappointment for the three of us. Packaged soup and a
sandwich would have been a better choice for us if we had only known what was waiting for us
on this special night.
Very disorganized with their valet parking. We waited in an adjacent parking lot for 15 minutes before someone came to give me a ticket to park my car, and then they left the car running with the door open for another 15 minutes. I went out to shut my car door, as it was clearly an invitation for a free car to anyone walking by, and finally the valet came to park my car. We had reservations, and we're seated outside in the far left corner. It smelled like bleach and old towels. Our server came and asked if we wanted a drink. He didn't have much of a personality, and seemed a bit rushed. We had just finished dealing with the disorganized valet, so we hadn't even decided on drinks. We asked him to give us one minute to look over the menu. He left our table, and for the next 20 minutes we saw him behind the bar. We thought he may be getting drink orders, but the longer we watched, we realized he was the bartender! We were about to leave, when finally another man came to our table. When we told him what had just happened, he was very apologetic and offered us a free appetizer. He got our drinks quickly and took our food order. We thought Bink's may have redeemed themselves, but once the nice empathetic man left with our food order, he never came back. Instead, we were stuck with Mr. Personality again, who NEVER offered up so much as an apology for forgetting us for 20 minutes, while he had to become the restaurant bartender. A real shame. The food was very good, but I will not be back. It's truly unfortunate, because if I had the experience I was hoping for, I had planned on visiting the other Bink's locations. Crossed off my list of places to re-visit.
the food was very good. my wife had fish called "sand dabs". she said it was good. i had the flat iron steak, it was very good, but over-salted. our server was strange and insincere (i felt like we were told that whatever we asked about was the best thing on the menu, and there was an up-sell with every conversation), and the bread pudding was not good. it seemed to me like they burned the butterscotch or something. there was a very unpleasant bitter flavor note.
there are too many other good restaurants in the valley.
4 of us had brunch on Sunday. Food was really good, service was fabulous. Just a heads up, if sitting outside, make sure your chair doesn't have tree sap on it. My pants got messed up.
I have been before...will go again. Music, good food nice ambiance at a reasonable price...not much more to ask for. Try it!
We loved the menu. A variety of options with a unique twist on each. The hazelnut soup and mushroom soup were incredible. We had appetizers, soups, salads, and main courses and not one bite was less than outstanding.
The outside dining was lovely with the bistro lighting and fireplace, however the outside tables and chairs were flimsy and wobbly. The service was less than impressive though nothing notably horrible. But items ordered were forgotten and the attentiveness to the table was a little bit lacking. Not nearly a reason to not come back however.
Bink's Midtown offer great atmosphere and outdoor dining in a small venue. The wine selection was outstanding along with the service. The food was good, although I thought their entrée selection was limited and expected a little more hearty selections, such as steaks. I had the bolognaise which was good, not great. lacked flavor and had a lot of water in it, not drained well.
Coming in from the west it looks like you are on a quiet residential street, and Bink's midtown is found in a converted home. While the menu is small the offerings are well prepared, particularly the hanger steak. Although there is pulled pork on Sunday, it is just that, without much seasoning, although with generous servings. Deserts and appetizers are particularly well done.
We were very disappointed with our whole experience. We went for the advertised roasted pig on Sunday nights. They also had roasted goat which was what we all three ordered. It was all you can eat including sides. It was the goat, a sauce for the goat, a tomato salad and pita bread. We felt that there needed to be another side to make it a complete meal. The service was terrible. We had to ask for more sauce five times and had to wait for more goat after we finished the first small serving. After dinner we ordered coffee. I had decaf cappuccino and it tasted like a cup of warm milk. We had eaten at this restaurant before and enjoyed it but this was very disappointing
3rd time eating here, it's been subpar all around each time. That was the third strike for us. My opinion is that Binkley has slapped his name on these statelitte restaurants thinking the name alone will sell the food. It's clear that he doesn't monitor food quality or service at least at the Osborn location. People in this area are a little bit more food savvy than on Scottsdale Rd or in Cave Creek. I assume this is why it was empty on a Saturday night. Aye at Okra the night before, 1000x better experience.
