Billy's Ratings and Reviews
Food was great but what was disappointing is that I requested a large table for my guests & I who like to order lots of food options & share. Billy’s did not honor this request. What was even more disappointing is that I saw 2-tops at tables larger than our 4-top table. This of course effected our service as the waitstaff was fumbling to find room on our table for the food we ordered which ultimately resulted in our shrimp dishes (served with a sauce) to be spilled on the table top.
This was one of, if not the best meal I have had at a restaurant. My husband travels often for business and has had $100.00 filet that wasn’t as good as the one at Billy’s. Everyone in our party finished their dinner there were no doggie bags. Our waiter was very attentive, and nice. We will definitely recommend to everyone and we will be back again!!
Best kept secret, but that is not true anymore. We go to watch sports events and so are many other people that are doing the same thing. The service is very good and the food is excellent, the owner always stops by and asks how our meal was. Definitely check it out...!!!
My husband and I went to Billy's for my birthday dinner because I wanted a great burger. It was a Wednesday night, so the place wasn't crowded at all. The burger was fine, not awesome like in past visits. The waitress made our whole experience not worth the trip. We each ordered one drink when we were first seated. After delivering our food, our waitress did not stop by our table again until to ask us if we'd like another drink. I eat very slowly, so an hour is a long time to ignore your patrons. Every time I looked at the waitress, she was talking to the bartender, instead of checking on her tables (which were just less than a handful?) I would think that pushing our empty glasses to the edge of the table in full view would have gotten her attention? No. The waitress never came back until we had our coats on and were ready to pay. At that point she mumbled any coffee or dessert, but by that time, we couldn't wait to leave. I booked through Open Table. Why do you have a box to check off Special Occasion "birthday" if your waiter/waitress is not even going to acknowledge you are there for a special occasion? We live in a small town where we have awesome restaurants, we won't be traveling back to Billy's in Barrington any time soon for an experience as lousy as this one was.
We were very comfortable and loved our waitress. Sharing an entre (after oysters and large individual salads) was greeted with enthusiasm by our waitress, which is always a relief. And the shared entre was plated separately and rather pleasantly. We did feel the menu was limited and could be more imaginative. And our seared scallops served on a bed of rich were over powered, we agreed, by a red chili sauce that might have come straight from a bottle. But nothing here that rules out a future visit. Prices are good and parking is right outside the door.
This was our first visit to BILLY'S in Barrington I made Open Table reservations on the fly and we were seated upon arrival. I noticed seating is arranged by age. We were seated with the 'elderly' in a back corner of the restaurant.. the forty fifty age group were in the middle of the restaurant where the 30's with kids were in the front area of the restaurant. I found this very odd, perhaps they have regular visitors who do not want to sit near kids I can't imagine any other reason for such an arrangement. Our table was extremly wobbly and was very irritating my husband and I were chuckling trying to figure out how it we could fix it, we tried the wine list but that didn't work finally some one saw us and sent over the busboy to fix it. The salad was good but one cherry tomato and one slice of cucumber is pretty funny, the greens were mostly bitter and nice blend would have been appreciated. There are NO substitutions so don't ask as they will BLATANTLY tell you so! I ordered the New England Sea Food Dinner which was quite lovely though the 'crumbs' were milky mush but the flavor was nice and it was served with freshly sauteed spinach ( you are not told what it comes with) my husband ordered the Eggplant Parmesan over penne, it was a large bowl and he said it was very tasty. There are NO GF options by the way.. again don't ask! The waitress was robotic but fine certainly not overly welcoming. We often go out to enjoy dinner after a tenuous work day but I don't think we'll be returning to Billy's. Overall it was good the waitstaff sufficient and nice choices but not very Warm in Atmospheric conditions.
I wanted to make a reservation for 8 people, but Open Table indicated there was no availability during the 4 hour brunch. I was able to make a reservation for 2 people. We arrived st 10:00 am and during our entire stay not one person showed up despite it being a rainy day (perfect for Sunday brunch). Because of Open Table, this restaurant lost a lot of business that day.
Took a long time to be acknowledged by the hostess and by waitress (a few people ignored us). No drink until over 20 minutes after being seated. Once activated our waitress was attentive and helpful. Bread and martini were delicious, by our entrees were middle of the road. Might go back, but not in a rush.
