Food was great but what was disappointing is that I requested a large table for my guests & I who like to order lots of food options & share. Billy’s did not honor this request. What was even more disappointing is that I saw 2-tops at tables larger than our 4-top table. This of course effected our service as the waitstaff was fumbling to find room on our table for the food we ordered which ultimately resulted in our shrimp dishes (served with a sauce) to be spilled on the table top.
This was one of, if not the best meal I have had at a restaurant. My husband travels often for business and has had $100.00 filet that wasn’t as good as the one at Billy’s. Everyone in our party finished their dinner there were no doggie bags. Our waiter was very attentive, and nice. We will definitely recommend to everyone and we will be back again!!
Had reservation at 6:15 and didn’t get sat until almost 7pm and a four top was sat before us (table of two). Really wanted a burger otherwise I would have left. Happened last time too
Server was good, food was good, although the couple sitting next to us complained that his veal was tough. Our meals were good.
The service is a bit slow, but the quality of the food made up for it. Steak cooked exactly as we asked, and the lobster Mac and cheese is great. Try the onion rings... 😀
Best kept secret, but that is not true anymore. We go to watch sports events and so are many other people that are doing the same thing. The service is very good and the food is excellent, the owner always stops by and asks how our meal was. Definitely check it out...!!!
New Years Eve celebration with friends
Billy’s is our regular date night restaurant. It has a varied menu with good specials, and a gorgeous bar. We can also walk there on the bike path, so that’s a plus.
I found the place to be cold.
Presentation of the food was not wanting me to say
I would rush back. The food was good.
The seafood diavalo was flavorful, but the chicken dish was flat and uninteresting. Overall too pricey for the quality.
My husband and I went to Billy's for my birthday dinner because I wanted a great burger. It was a Wednesday night, so the place wasn't crowded at all. The burger was fine, not awesome like in past visits. The waitress made our whole experience not worth the trip. We each ordered one drink when we were first seated. After delivering our food, our waitress did not stop by our table again until to ask us if we'd like another drink. I eat very slowly, so an hour is a long time to ignore your patrons. Every time I looked at the waitress, she was talking to the bartender, instead of checking on her tables (which were just less than a handful?) I would think that pushing our empty glasses to the edge of the table in full view would have gotten her attention? No. The waitress never came back until we had our coats on and were ready to pay. At that point she mumbled any coffee or dessert, but by that time, we couldn't wait to leave. I booked through Open Table. Why do you have a box to check off Special Occasion "birthday" if your waiter/waitress is not even going to acknowledge you are there for a special occasion? We live in a small town where we have awesome restaurants, we won't be traveling back to Billy's in Barrington any time soon for an experience as lousy as this one was.
Delicious food and great service as always
We were very comfortable and loved our waitress. Sharing an entre (after oysters and large individual salads) was greeted with enthusiasm by our waitress, which is always a relief. And the shared entre was plated separately and rather pleasantly. We did feel the menu was limited and could be more imaginative. And our seared scallops served on a bed of rich were over powered, we agreed, by a red chili sauce that might have come straight from a bottle. But nothing here that rules out a future visit. Prices are good and parking is right outside the door.
The food and atmosphere were great. I look forward to returning.
Food and service were excellent. Have been here several times and am always pleased.
Always one of the go-tos in Barrington. Nothing fancy, but it's consistent.
This was our first visit to BILLY'S in Barrington I made Open Table reservations on the fly and we were seated upon arrival. I noticed seating is arranged by age. We were seated with the 'elderly' in a back corner of the restaurant.. the forty fifty age group were in the middle of the restaurant where the 30's with kids were in the front area of the restaurant. I found this very odd, perhaps they have regular visitors who do not want to sit near kids I can't imagine any other reason for such an arrangement. Our table was extremly wobbly and was very irritating my husband and I were chuckling trying to figure out how it we could fix it, we tried the wine list but that didn't work finally some one saw us and sent over the busboy to fix it. The salad was good but one cherry tomato and one slice of cucumber is pretty funny, the greens were mostly bitter and nice blend would have been appreciated. There are NO substitutions so don't ask as they will BLATANTLY tell you so! I ordered the New England Sea Food Dinner which was quite lovely though the 'crumbs' were milky mush but the flavor was nice and it was served with freshly sauteed spinach ( you are not told what it comes with) my husband ordered the Eggplant Parmesan over penne, it was a large bowl and he said it was very tasty. There are NO GF options by the way.. again don't ask! The waitress was robotic but fine certainly not overly welcoming. We often go out to enjoy dinner after a tenuous work day but I don't think we'll be returning to Billy's. Overall it was good the waitstaff sufficient and nice choices but not very Warm in Atmospheric conditions.
Hamburger ( a specialty) overcooked. Fish sandwich delicious but small piece of fish.
Don't miss out on great food, delicious drinks and a very friendly atmosphere! The service couldn't have been better. The food was outstanding. Don't miss this place!
A friendly neighborhood bistro with very good service and food. Prices seem high for a casual bistro. The only negative comment in our party was that it was too dark and seemed gloomy. Put some good lamps on the tables and it would make a big difference.
Excellent food, nice selection, good drinks, and in my neighborhood.
I wanted to make a reservation for 8 people, but Open Table indicated there was no availability during the 4 hour brunch. I was able to make a reservation for 2 people. We arrived st 10:00 am and during our entire stay not one person showed up despite it being a rainy day (perfect for Sunday brunch). Because of Open Table, this restaurant lost a lot of business that day.
Great spot to get really well prepared food and great tasting food with fantastic service. They cook healthy with a smile...!!! I highly recommend trying Billy's and you will be like us, you will keep coming back...!!!
Wonderful meal, great lil gem of a spot!
We won't be going back because the menu never changes. Even the specials get recycled. Also, my salmon was cooked poorly. We'll be headed somewhere else next time.
exceptional clam chowder, beet salad stuffies never a disappointment
I love this neighborhood restaurant. The servers are local kids we often know, and they are very helpful and responsive. The food is consistently good and fresh and though the prices all just went up in the last year, it is still worth the $.
Wonderful & warm inviting restaurant! Great place to catch up & visit with our
friends who also told me they rate it 5 stars!! Service was great along with the
food. The four of us all had a different dish & all were excellent.
Dinner was excellently prepared and served hot. Our server Shannon was informative, attentive and friendly. A very pleasant experience
