Billy's Roanoke Ratings and Reviews
I made reservations Saturday morning with Ooen Table for dinner at 5:45om. When we got to the restaurant they no record of our reservation. I fortunately had the email of my confirmation which I showed to a very nice lady who said she would get us a table. She gave us a free appetizer and dessert.for my boyfriend who was celebrating a big birthday. The service was excellent but I will hesitate to use Ooen Table agsin.
Food was good, enjoy going to Billy's but the last two times I have made reservations. Our table has been located beside a large party. 10 or more people. For a table of two it gets so loud that you can't have a conversion with the person you are with, and this time the tables were being set up after we got seated. That was fun, (not).
Initially seated at a small table for 2 facing a wall when multiple tables were open. Asked to be moved and request was granted. Waitress was very friendly and knew the menu. Recommend the Bourberry cocktail-small but tasty. Filet Mignon was cooked to order and tender but not extraordinary. Asparagus was undercooked and tough. Smashed potatoes were delicious. Overall felt the cost was not consistent with the pricing.
I had the lobster mac & cheese. It was delish! My co-workers had burgers and they looked divine. The dessert was great too.
Gabby was our server, she was friendly, knowledgeable and professional.
It was a wonderful experience and would encourage you to try it. Lunch will run about $12- $16 per entrée but it is well worth it!
I had dinner last night with my wife and have to say that I am not surprised by our experience. Always a pleasure to dine here. The service is always excellent. The food was spectacular. The management team, bar tenders and wait staff are always attentive and courteous. The steak was cooked to perfection and tender . The crab cakes were spot on. This is why I will continue to make this my go to spot. Great job and kudos to the Billy's team.
We had another enjoyable meal at Billy's. It's our favorite restaurant when staying in Roanoke. Their jerk chicken is very flavorful, but not too spicy. The strawberry salad was delicious, too. Be sure to make a reservation. We arrived early for ours. The only table available was a high top in the bar area. We opted for that and the bartender took very good care of us. It is a little noisy when the restaurant is full but that's to be expected. We can't wait to return!
Our servers were great. However our party of eight was seated back in a corner. It must've been 85° so we asked them to turn the heat down. The noise level is one of the noises places I have ever had a nice dinner. We couldn't even hear the people at our table talking. I understand it was the Christmas season but it was not enjoyable
Turnip soup, prime rib, broccoli, lobster tail, fries and smashed potatoes were awesome! Blackened sea bass was unimpressive, small portioned, and over priced. Limoncello cake was good but lacked textural contrasts. A bit disappointing since I ordered the sea bass but my hubby let me try his prime rib which was great!
I was in Roanoke to celebrate my son’s recent engagement and chose Billy’s to treat them to a nice dinner. There are quite a few other great places there to eat as well, but Billy’s pleasantly surpassed my expectations. We had a pleasant, experienced server. The wine list was superb. The appetizers, salads and entrees were delicious. I personally loved the prime rib. This is my new “favorite” place in Roanoke and look forward to dining there again soon!
Despite reserving a table, it was 15 minutes late- our request to have a joined table was not met-despite the fact that I called and visited and was told both times my request would be honored. Also, it was SUPER dark (much darker than I remember from our other many visits) and overall I really was not impressed this visit. I tell a lot of my friends about Billy's and we visit often, but this was not their best.
We booked this reservation prior to a show at the Mill Mountain theatre and thankfully had planned well in advance. We arrived on time for our reservation and were seated immediately at a great window-side table. Our server was very upbeat but obviously spread too thin. It took almost an hour before our entrees arrived (we hadn't ordered apps) and 25 minutes before a basket of bread appeared. The drinks were slow to come initially. When our food did arrive we had to clear our own dirty bread plates out of the way. Overall, it was an extremely long wait for an expensive meal that should have come with better service.
Both of our meals were not up to the excellence of the year before, when we also celebrated our wedding anniversary at Billy's. My guess is that the meals were left under a heat light too long or were otherwise delayed in being delivered to our table. They just seemed a bit overcooked. The shrimp scampi that I ate on 11.30/16 was perhaps the best scampi that I have ever had. The scampi on 11/30/17 was not the same - just average.
But we will be back.
Fantastic experience! We dined with a 1 year old and Caleb was AMAZING with him and with us. Loved the cocktail he recommended and the food was superb, especially the sweet bacon salad dressing and shrimp & grits. Only disappointment was the crab chowder had more corn than crab (couldn't taste anything but corn!) Experience started well when the host kindly accommodated us, stowing our stroller and seating us where our kiddo could see everything. Kuddos, we will be back next time through!
Went for wife’s birthday. Mentioned the reason in the comments and nothing was even said nor mentioned by any of the staff which I found surprising. Also got out at a table right in the walkway so I was constantly moving for people coming back and forth. Food was great...service was ok.
