Billy's Roanoke Ratings and Reviews
Fantastic experience! We dined with a 1 year old and Caleb was AMAZING with him and with us. Loved the cocktail he recommended and the food was superb, especially the sweet bacon salad dressing and shrimp & grits. Only disappointment was the crab chowder had more corn than crab (couldn't taste anything but corn!) Experience started well when the host kindly accommodated us, stowing our stroller and seating us where our kiddo could see everything. Kuddos, we will be back next time through!
Our server was over the top! She anticipated our every need without being bothersome and made good menu suggestions. The ahi tuna and wontons was superb. The blue cheese wedge salad, although lacking in blue cheese flavor was still very delicious. The crab cakes were good, not great as anticipated and the rainbow trout was outstanding. They very willingly made substitutions and overall it was a great evening.
What a great place. From the moment entering the door, every employee was fantastic. Above average and very attentive. The menu options can please anyone. The ambience (back dining room) was warm and most pleasing as we could see the courtyard. Food was outstanding. By far, our fav go to from now to forever! WTG Billys! You're off the charts great
Wonderful dining spot. Great location and very professional and knowledgeable staff. Had a crab cake dinner entree and it was one of the best I have ever had. My wife had the scampi and thoroughly enjoyed her meal. We couldn’t have been more pleased.
We were only passing through Roanoke otherwise Billy’s would be on our best restaurant list. Classic great food , in a warm setting and everything is done to perfection.
Went here for a Friday night dinner after a busy week at work. Two in our party. Everything was excellent, from the hostess to the service to the food. I had the salmon, my companion had the mahi-mahi, and we were able to substitute for our sides. We also added salads. I recommend the green goddess dressing. Food was very good, and our server, Sarah, made sure our entire experience was wonderful. I highly recommend this place for dinner or for drinks, as the bartenders are top-notch as well.
The service was outstanding. You can tell the staff really believe in how to make a guest feel welcome. The prime rib was large and very tasty. However, I found the special Rockfish to be a bit bland. Even so, the sides were spectacular, as was the vanilla ice cream afterward. Overall, a very pleasant experience. I will return.
Two waiters tag-teamed our table and I was never quite sure who our server was. We were only a table of two so it was not because of the size of our table. We ordered Manhattans “up” but they were brought on the rocks. Waiter said he would fix it but all he did was remove the ice and pour into the proper glass; this was obvious because they were watered down from the ice.
Otherwise, the food and atmosphere were exceptional.
We had a small group of family visiting, and they wanted to see the downtown area and have dinner there. We have been to Billy's before and knew it would be a solid place to take our family. That being said, our family was over the the top with the food (Shrimp & Grits, bacon scallops, short rib, and lobster Alfredo) combined with the attention to detail of our server Greg that they insisted we come back the next day for lunch, which we did. Sarah was as accommodating as our prior server and our food was just as wonderful from the lunch menu. Thank you Billy's for letting our town shine.
We've been to Billy's many times. Since there are many good restaurants in the Roanoke area, that is, in itself, a recommendation. Once again, my wife's prime rib was excellent and she would rate it as the best in town. My salmon with risotto was cooked as I ordered & was quite good as well. Portions are large so we shared a well prepared cheesecake as dessert. Service was attentive, but not intrusive. Once more we were pleased with our choice of Billy's for a pre-theater meal.
We showed up for our reservation late and the staff was very accommodating - not even mentioning our lateness. When we needed to expand because of our reunion classmates pouring in - the staff at Billy's just kept on bringing tables. It was a great experience - in fact - we then moved from the table to the bar after we had finished eating. Great bar scene too.
We were traveling through Roanoke visiting my brother and went to Billy's for dinner. We were actually seated in the patio area which I would prefer because the dining room was very busy. Our server was very courteous and attentive to our needs. And the kitchen was quite slow in a way a meticulous chef would work. We were in no hurry and when the food arrived it was absolutely splendid. I would recommend the cowboy ribeye cooked medium rare and the lemon dessert cake was amazing. Will definitely return on our next visit to Roanoke!
First time at Billy's. I was very impressed. Food and drinks are a little pricey, so I definitely be only dining here on special occasions. I got the lobster alfredo and it was delicious and more than I could eat. My cocktail of choice for the evening was the pomegranate martini and it was yummy!!
Billy's is our go to restaurant for everything but especially when family visits from out of state. Food always delicious and always something unusual on the menu. This time service a little uneven and food very slow out of kitchen so therefore only 4 stars. Still would highly recommend to people.
While dining on a slower evening we felt like a million dollars when we were greeted at the door by two lovely hostesses. We were introduced to Greg after being seated. He took meticulous care of us and left nothing to be desired other than for the rain to stop outside. Our food was prepared to perfection and the wine selection was not difficult to find what we wanted. Wish we had room for dessert, maybe next time. We dine often and intend on returning in the near future for our son's wedding.
Sadly I wasn't impressed at all! Our waitress was too busy taking smoke breaks to take care of us. We we're celebrating our anniversary and were looking for something special. The salmon and crab cakes were OK but, definitely not worth the price. My lemon drop martini tasted like dish soap.
This is not our first time and certainly will not be our last time dining at Billy's. We have come to expect great things when dining and they always deliver. Megan at the bar was such a perfectionist at making our martinis and we had the best time socializing with her before being seated for our meal. Greg took the utmost care of us by being charming and attentive, with a balance of professionalism that makes Billy's shine. The ahi appetizer was fresh and delicious as were our main courses. Thank you again to making our evening another pleasant time.
Blackened mahi was excellent as was the thick pork chop. Junior chef didn't recognize that asparagus must be trimmed; "stump" was still on. Excellent and reasonably priced cocktails. Chef and staff both asked about the preparation. Very attentive. All in all a great show.
Monday night meal. Early in the evening, place was not crowded. Staff and waiter were very friendly and attentive. Seated at a nice table. Ordered crab cakes there were described as delicious and the lamb shank, which was truly melt-off-the-bone tender. Portions were generous. No room for desserts. Bloody Mary was excellent. Will keep coming back. For the food portions and food quality received, prices were extremely reasonable.
This was my third time at Billy's. It was great food and service back then. This Saturday the 26 of August we took a couple (family) for dinner. The dishes were not bad but my ribeye (which I always order) was not cooked properly plus it had a BCC crust and onions which completely changed the flavor of the steak and I had not ordered. I guess I could of send it back but my guest were satisfied with their orders. For the price (over $200) I expected the same as in the past. I might give it another try one day. Who knows!
My wife and I were visiting Roanoke for the first time and found Billy's online. We were very happy with our meals. My wife has lots of food allergies and they took really good care of her. It is always stressful for her to eat out and they made sure her meal was as good as mine! I had the prime rib and it was wonderful.
This downtown restaurant in the vibrant market area provides lots of people watching and a chance to window shop befor or after dining. The menu offers many options from both seafood and meat entrees. The wine list is limited but adequate. Very good service is provided by a knowledgeable and friendly staff. Ask for a able on the Campbell Avenue side to people watch.
