Billy's took fabulous care of my parents on their 40th wedding anniversary!
It was our anniversary and we asked for patio seating, which was easily accommodated. The wine was delicious as was the food. The service was excellent. Highly recommend to anyone
Our first time here but we will be back. We were travelling decided to stop in Roanoke for the night. A friend who grew up in Roanoke recommended Billy's and he was right it is wonderful. The fresh oysters were the best as were the drinks. We surprised our granddaughter with a birthday cake and the flaming candle made her day. All the servers were very welcoming to us.
Caleb, was by far the best server we have ever had while dining at Billy’s. Excellent service and attention. The Benedict’s are awesome and so are the pancakes. We really enjoy brunch here!
Amazing as always! Caleb is the best server we’ve had anywhere!!! We moved away, but every time we are in town we make time to have a dinner here. Steaks, crab cakes, ravioli, lamb —- all excellent.
Billy's is always good, but this wasn't the finest night. Service was very slow - our server had too many tables (not his fault, and perhaps not management's fault these days, either). Beverages got mixed up and some of the meals weren't as flavorful as we had hoped. All food was cooked to temperature perfectly, however - fish and beef were all tender and juicy. I know staffing has been difficult for most businesses lately, so we're definitely willing to give Billy's another try - we all have a bad day now and then, and Billy's is usually the best.
We had a wonderful meal at Billy’s. My sister and I both had cowboy ribeye and my husband had the scallop Angel hair pasta dish. Our server was very attentive. Our meal was excellent.
An excellent restaurant for a special occasion! I love it!
The noise level was between 86 and 92 decibels, which is very loud. The food was good but the service was spotty. We were seated in a back bar area and our waiter was apparently working both dining rooms because he would disappear for long periods.
Every bite was a distinct pleasure. each piece of grilled asparagus popped with freshness as I bit down, and good ol’ sweet potato fries were sweet and savory on the outside but firm and natural tasting inside.
The Red Snapper, encrusted with secret “50 spices” and cooked to a firmness that supported the wild special flavor of that unique fish made it worth the premium price. Snapper is declining so I’ll stop ordering. I’m glad my last experience with it was so exceptional.
Billy’s is casual, but the food is top notch
Our food was wonderful. The atmosphere was lively but not overly so. We had a great time.
Great lobster Mac and cheese, prime rib and braised short rib. Crime brûlée was a little watery and burnt. Waiter was fantastic.
Caleb was excellent. Food and drinks perfect. Bar across the street detracts from the atmosphere so don’t sit by the window.
Myself and my friend had the filet and they were cooked as ordered. My Caesar salad was good. I enjoyed the charred crust on the steak but my friend found it to be a bit burned tasting. The veggies and potatoes were really good. The service was very nice and not rushed which I really appreciated.
This is an extraordinary restaurant! We traveled 90 minutes to eat here and it was worth every minute! The service was excellent, the food was delicious and it’s in a lovely part of town. I cannot say enough good things about Billy’s!
Always wonderful! Filet and braised short ribs were perfection. Best Sazerac outside of New Orleans!
Billy’s is an institution for the nostalgia but not necessarily the food. The food was fair and was so was the service
We made reservations weeks in advance for a special anniversary. We have been to Billies many times and made specific suggestions as to where we wanted to sit. We couldn’t have been assigned a worse place (in the middle next to a large group ) Then we watched as other people were given much better tables when we had made reservations so far in advance.
I will never go there again for a special occasion.
Food was good but nothing special. Trout could have used sauce or something to give more flavor and moisture. Building is old and I was seated in a rather desolate part of the restaurant making my experience not very upbeat or exciting.
Was not very clean. Should have tablecloths on tables. Food good but no wow.
We come to Billy’s A LOT and love the atmosphere. We brought two of our friends in town from VB to brunch this morning. Everything was great until my fiancé got his oysters , looked down, and there was some sort of a live worm crawling around on them. Our waitress was great and look the plate away, but it was brought back less then 2 mins later with a “the chef fixed it for you” deal. AKA he took off the 1 oyster and replaced it. My fiancé is never shy to tell a waiter/waitress he’s unhappy but for once he didn’t know what to say. Like I said our waitress was awesome. She came back over and said “you lost you appetite didn’t you? I don’t blame you. Let me get them from you and take it off your bill. I’m so sorry “. She handled it great. Just disappointing it even happened at such a nice place !
Excellent dining experience at Billy’s. You can entrust Billy’s to provide an excellent experience for special occasions or when entertaining clients.
Delicious food, we went for lunch but ordered off the dinner menu.
Very graciously, Billy’s manager went to extra lengths to find the two of us a table in its deservedly popular courtyard despite what had appeared to be a full booking. The restaurant’s ambience was matched, if not exceeded, by the deliciousness of our dinners. My steak and my wife’s salad and salmon were perfectly cooked and simply superb. All in all, our dinner at Billy’s ended a perfect day, our first day in Roanoke after an absence of 5 years.
Strip steak was fair at best. Ambience is very nice there.
Fantastic food and service!
Food was good but a little over priced. Waiter had no personality and never smiled and was not friendly.
Drove an hour each way for brunch. Hostess acted like she could not care less. Very un-engaged. Server was also very lackluster. Food was ok. Nothing to write home about. Tiny portions of potatoes on the side. Something tasted very off about the biscuits. Like the flour had gone bad? Very expensive ticket for a disappointing experience.
Went there for a Birthday celebration.
Our server Caleb made sure we had an excellent experience. He recommended both food and drink items that were all amazing right down to the desserts. They even made our experience extra special with a champagne toast since we were celebrating a graduation, it was the perfect experience!
It was fantastic!! The food was amazing and the service was impeccable.
Great bloody Mary’s, generous portions, and able to order off dinner menu during lunch. Wait staff was excellent!
Excellent service and ribeye was perfect. We had ribeye, filet, tomahawk. Only bummer was that they were out of smashed potatoes!
The Seafood Platter was spectacular! Shrimp, scallops, and lobster done to perfection! Definitely a must have!
First time wonderful experience! Great food and service was Awsome! The New York strip was superb! The crab cakes likewise! Awsome chocolate cake! Will be back and recommend highly!
Have been coming here about once a year since the 80’s, and it’s always been a reliably pleasant, attractive place with good service and an appetizing menu. This time we had prime rib, mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus, mahi mahi, and vegetable medley (zucchini, onions, peppers). Vegetables were excellent. Prime rib was great, other than the fat. Fish was overcooked or spent too long under the warmer. If they could do a better job with the fish I’d be back a lot more often.
The food was delicious! I had the Mahi and my husband had the pork cop. Both were perfect! For dessert I had the Limoncello cake. Highly recommend. Only downside is they took about 45 min to bring out our food and they were not very busy.
Always enjoy Billy’s
Always love Billy’s menu, service and atmosphere. Drinks are always delicious!! Ritz Cake and Strawberry Spinach Salad with Fig Dressing was yummy!!
Food was solid and service was terrific. The specific room that we were in was a bit loud but I have sat in others that are much more welcoming. Just wouldn't suggest the back room off of the patio.
