The service was great as was the ambience. The problem lies with the food. The appetizers were excellent and the salads and desserts were as expected but the entrees left alot to be desired. The pork shank did fall off the bone but was bland, no flavor whatsoever. My friend got the rack of lamb and it was dry and overcooked, although he ordered it medium rare as recommended by the chef. The consensus of the table is, the house potatoes were awful and the mushy seasonal veggies were a waste. My suggestion is, order the overpriced specials as my other friends $45 ribeye was good. Overall, for the price, NOT WORTH IT. Sidenote, a $28 bottle of wine should not have a metal twist off cap. Overall, we will not go back.
We visited Billy's recently and was very pleased with the staff and especially the food. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive to our needs. We love the quiet atmosphere where conversation is possible. It is a great place for birthdays or anniversaries. Nader, the chef is always open to customizing your meal to your needs. We enjoy the wine and the drinks. We recommend Billy's to anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing, but fun evening.
Good food, great service(heidi), and nice atmosphere.
Best crab cakes ever! My husband and I both have June birthday's and we celebrated at Billy's both times. Food and service is excellent in a quite, intimate setting. Highly recommended!
The setting was for a 1st date. It was quiet enough that we could talk, always a good bonus for a first date. The seating was somewhat seclude which was very nice. The service was attentive without being overbearing. We both had filets which were prepared as we asked. Overall a very enjoyable experience.
We went with another couple and had four entrees that covered poultry, pasta, beef and seafood. Each one was excellent. The service by our young server was engaging and first rate. It took some time for our entrees to arrive but that is a minor complaint compared to the experience. The dining area had cozy areas for us and yet handled group tables away from us quite well. Having lived in the Detroit metro area for 28 years, I have to rank this experience in my top five there. I had heard that Billy's had had some down years recently but our meals and service were excellent. I certainly recommend it for special occasions or to just treat yourself to a great meal.
Really enjoyed our time there. Friendly, clean, good!
The staff was so attentive and friendly. Enjoyed that very much. The food was fantastic. The chef came out to see how we liked our meal. That was truly a pleasant experience.
Was a great place to have a night out with a friend. The server was great and the food was even better.
Great food. Friendly service. Generous portions. We love Billy’s!
This was my first experience at Billy's and probably my last. The Brussel Sprout appetizer we ordered was undercooked BUT the spicy balsamic reduction it came with was good. The fruity balsamic dressing I ordered on my side salad looked like Pepto-Bismol. I chose that dressing, my fault. The Cream of Cauliflower soup my wife ordered was very good. The Avery's Chicken I ordered was completely drowned in sauce and overcooked vegetables (green peppers and tomato wedges). Beside the chicken was a huge mound of rice which they didn't describe on their menu. It was dill and lima bean rice. WTF! That, unfortunately, was my first bite and it almost zapped my appetite. I spent the rest of the meal fighting off the rice that tried to invade the other side of my plate and also trying to find the two small and VERY DRY chicken medallions under all of the vegetable sauce. I imagine that they were trying to disguise the dry chicken with the amount of sauce they used. I ate the chicken...it was the best part of the dish. NOW, I will say that the Glazed Salmon that my wife ordered was pretty good. She, unfortunately, got the same mound of rice. She didn't like it. We decided to ordered dessert because we are new parents and we don't get out much. Gotta live a little am I right? I also wanted to get the everlasting dill and lima bean taste out of my mouth. I had a sweet potato cheesecake and it was really good. THE best part of the dinner. I don't remember what my wife got but she liked it. The worst part of the evening was getting the bill. It was $91 and some change for one glass of cheap Moscato ($6), one undercooked appetizer of Brussel sprouts ($9), two entrees(chicken $22 and salmon $22) and two desserts ($14) plus a tip ($11) because i'm rarely an ahole. I willing went here knowing how much it was going to be but I will not be going back. I feel like some of the more expensive restaurants in Lincoln, NE are NOT being held to the standard of dining they are charging for.
We went for a nice dinner for our Anniversary. It was nice a quite and we had a very attentive waitress. The menu was pretty limited. I had a chicken dish that was very good and healthy. I liked the salad but it had too much dressing for my taste. I would ask for it on the side next time. I would go back.
Happy Birthday! Great place to celebrate with family. Highly recommend as THE BEST place to dine in Lincoln.
Lovely night out. Great atmosphere, great and friendly, fun, but not intrusive service. Helpful, especially around trying to figure out what to order for the table when we are all "sharers." Would go again for a special event.
We are always amazed how quiet Billy's is thus it is great to carry on conversation and have an enjoyable evening. The staff, especially Jordan, is always kind and attentive. The food is excellent and makes for a great dinning experience.
Overall, everything was excellent! The service was great! The value for our meals was perfect!
We had a very nice experience with friends. The food was very good, as was the service. They were not busy on a Tues. night, and we were the only table in our room. That was very nice because we were able to hear each other easily.
Special occasion wasn’t recognized like at other places in Lincoln. Server knocked water glass on table and caused a spill. However, food was delicious and well-prepared.
Our server, Jordan, was a member of the family who owns the restaurant. He was knowledgeable about everything on the menu and made fantastic recommendations. Everything was prepared to perfection exactly as described. Thank you for a memorable meal and a great setting for two friends to catch up!
Very neat place and good food! I was very shocked when I got the bill though. We ordered two specials which was fish, rice, and vegetables and water. Received the bill and it was over $63.
As always, this restaurant is a joy to come to. We enjoy the quiet atmosphere, the friendly staff and the awesome food. Everyone is so attentive and helpful. It is a cozy place where you can carry on conversation and enjoy having your guests with you. We recommend it highly.
Excellent menu selection and service. We will definitely dine there again.
The food is truly fresh prepared! It is great to be able to easily converse with my husband because there was pleasant low decidable music!
We love dining here! Delicious food, relaxed atmosphere, and good service.
This was our first time at Billy’s. We tried the restaurant because I had purchased a Group on deal. We will definitely dine here again. Loved the vintage house and decor. The food was wonderful! The staff was very attentive, helpful and pleasant.
Billy's is a unique restaurant that is extremely quiet and for that reason, my wife and I chose to go there all the time. You can actually carry on a conversation in the very cozy atmosphere. It is the quietest of any rated restaurant that we have visited in Lincoln. The food is always excellent and the chef will come to your table to inquire about special needs or wants that you have for your meal. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. It is a great place for first time dates, anniversaries, or other special occasions. We recommend it highly.
I may have marked the noise level wrong if the bigger rectangle means it was noisy. The noise level was perfect.
We came here with friends for the first time! We loved the staff and loved the food!
This was my first time at Billy's. The service was great, our waitress was very nice, the chef was kind and funny, and I felt comfortable while there. I'm excited to go back some day!
Great food with excellent service! Lovely quiet evening with attention to detail! Great date night!
I have been to Billy's before and have always liked it for the most part. It's not amazing, but it's pretty good food and, while a bit pricey, the portions are huge. I think every single person we saw leaving had a to-go container. Here's my major complaint. Restaurants should NEVER user instant or dehydrated potatoes. If you aren't using fresh potatoes from scratch, you shouldn't be serving potatoes. You could taste immediately that they were not fresh, from scratch potatoes. A place like Billy's should be ashamed to take such a short cut.
Staff was wonderful, professional and very accommodating. Food and wine were delicious. Liked the filet mignons sitting on top of potatoes, juice goes into potatoes! Hello, great idea. Wonderful date night!!
Service is great, main dish was ok but expensive. Dessert was very good.
Loved every minute-even Chef Nadar’s jokes -lol
It’s my new favorite restaurant in Lincoln! The food was delicious and the chef was amazing! I’m pescatarian and wanted the pasta but didn’t want the chicken and bacon so he personally came to our table and asked what type of food I would want in it and went with shrimp and it was so good! The coziness and warmth inside is great too. All around great dining experience.
The restaurant was previously a house, so the dining experience was very intimate. My date and I felt it necessary to talk quietly, almost in a whisper, since the place was so quiet and proper. The chef came to our table a couple of times and was hilarious and inviting, so after that the place didn’t feel stuffy. This is not a cheap place to go, but the food was excellent and it was a great overall experience
We love Billys and decided to celebrate my husband's birthday there. We think of it as a homey quiet place to go...table for two in the corner type of place. We did have a great table foe two but there was a crowd in the room next door who laughed at everything anybody in their group said. I know they were having lots of fun but a couple of people in the group had very annoying g laughs and our dinner was not as much fun because of them. This in no way reflects bad on Billys because it was not their fault. Our waitress was great...interjected a bit of humor and was very attentive. She had great suggestions such as the Brussel sprouts for an appetizer. The whole meal was delicious and very well presented. The portions are huge so we both ended up taking some home. They were very gracious about acknowledging my husband's birthday with a delicious apple torte dessert. We love Billys and will definitely return.
The food was excellent and the service was great. Prices are very reasonable. I had the Chicken Marsla and my wife had the lamb shank---simply outstanding.
Great service, superb food, every time and just down the street. It's a favorite for a special lunch or dinner. Our anniversary meal was the best yet.
Great food and marvelous service from Chef and his son!
