We had a large party including small children and absolutely loved the food! Great Chinese dishes in the North End and serving sizes were huge!
We go there a lot. Live across the street. Always good food.
Nice place to take friends and family visiting from Norway
We absolutely love Billy Tse's! It is consistently good. The service is great and very friendly. The sushi rolls are fresh and creative. We generally go there before events at the garden. Couldn't work out better.
Everyone at Billy's is so friendly. We are regulars.
Food was your usual Chinese menu. Some Sushi was pretty good. Try to sit in the bar area which was updated. The dining room is from the 1970s. Service was average.
We got the scallion pancake Thai noodles, and sesame chicken. All were very nice! Decently priced which is always a plus. Will go again for sure.
Booked a table for 14 for Father's Day at Billy Tse's. Food and service were phenomenal. Outstanding value. Probably the best Asian food you could find in the Boston area. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Seriously ice was quick and welcoming. Steak tataki could've been cut into smaller pieces so they were easier to chew and swallow. Very tasty though. The MaPo Tofu had good flavor, but even though I'd asked for extra spicy, it ended up being less spicy than even the tataki seasoning. If it was spicier, it would've been top notch. Next time I'll make sure they throw in a bucketload of spice!
Food was delicious but the hot tea was very weak and disappointing.
For some reason this place has really great reviews, at least by the quantitative measures. We found it ok. It is fine if you are looking for a quick reasonably priced meal, but not worth a special trip.
Great people and good.
Karen makes very good drinks.
This was not good. Overpriced with terrible food. I suggest you pass.
I picked this restaurant out of Yelp (it had good ratings) and it was a reasonable drive from our hotel. We were going out with vegetarian friends who wanted to eat Chinese and the menu offered an ideal mix. We enjoyed our dinner in a quiet surrounding. The food was good, not too greasy with great flavor. The servers were courteous and service was good. Overall, we had a good mea and a good time.
The food was excellent and prices comperable to the area. Service was good. Restaurant is small. Bar could have had some music to provide ambience.
Our server was fantastic, the Peking Duck was outstanding!
Despite there being barely anyone there, our appetizers came fast but mostly cool. It was Crab Rangoon. More Rangoon than Crab. Must have been pre-made. Not crispy. No excuse. Really good General Tse.
We visited before we were going to a Bruins game. It was a very good choice. Convenient, yet enough off the beaten path that it was very relaxed. Service was very friendly and the noodles and sushi were both very good. The value was great. We will definitely return.
Billy Tse's is gratefully located in the North End along the harbor. It brings much needed culinary diversity to the neighborhood. They have some creative rolls and unique takes on many Chinese dishes. There is a basic beer list, a few extravagant cocktails, and a good sake menu. We recommend starting with some sushi rolls then splitting a few main dishes (large portions) for dinner. Enjoy!
We had a table of ten which was a tight squeeze and a little hard to accommodate. A group of 5 or 6 would have no problem! The food was all very tasty, but the portion sizes are very large! Good for sharing!
Given Chinese food in Boston (not the best vs. other metropolitan cities), Billy Tse's is not bad. Ingredients appeared fresh, well-prepared, flavorful. Service was not good due to small number of wait staff.
When we entered the restaurant, the host refused to sit us despite out presentation of an open table reservation (which they later said they had). He tried to suggest that they did not take reservations for parties of 2 during the holiday week. He tried to sit us on bar stools in the bar area, even though there were plenty of tables in the restaurant that he said were "reserved", but apparently not for us!
Not to be picky, or nit-picky, but there are so many other better choices for Asian food than Billy Tse's. We wanted to try this place to have something out of the ordinary in the North End, and while the menu is vast and relatively affordable, the food was just ho-hum, lacking distinct flavor. The plus was that I figured out I could vastly improve the flavor of my fried rice/scallop dish by adding in the sauce liquid from the appetizer. The one positive was that Billy himself came to greet us mid-meal, and I imagine this place was pretty great at one time, but he's probably overseeing bigger and better culinary projects, and the food has this suffered in his namesake restaurant.
The decor is old the fluorescent lighting is painful the food is over sauced over cooked and loaded with MSG and the service was painful.
Arrived around 7 PM on a Friday night to a light and lively restaurant. Seated right away at a spacious and comfortable table. Our waiter was super helpful with the expansive menue-- so many choices and me not all that familiar with Asian cuisine. We ended up getting the Kung ping chicken and Spicy hunan beef. Very happy with the selections. Generous quantities. Next day we enjoyed the leftovers chilling on a sunny bench at the Public Gardens. A big thumbs up for Jimmy Tse's. Great food. Great service and nice-off the-beaten path of Hanover Street (North End). Go there!!
This is the place where everybody knows are our names, and we run into friends often. I go there because my BF lives nearby, but even friends from other neighborhoods ask that we meet at Billy's. Excellent portions and an extensive menu make it a favorite. The sushi is very good!!! They also are willing to modify dishes to make them healthier, steaming veggies and putting sauces on the side. The bartenders and wait staff are friendly and professional. We get better service here than in some high-end places! We are so glad this place exists.
Yup - and it's great! Some of the best I've had in Boston. The sushi was excellent and my companion's Chinese was remarkable. Really the best Asian restaurant within walking distance of the Financial District. I'll definitely go back!
Used to go to Billy Tse's all the time, but hadn't been in awhile since moving out of the city. Was back in town and in the mood for sushi, and Billy'Tse's was as good as ever. Went on a Monday night and everything was fresh & tasty, the service was prompt, and the Maitais were wonderful!. Not a super fancy place, but excellent food & service in a relaxed atmosphere within walking distance of the NE Aquarium and Quincy Market.
The owner personally walked up to each table and even served. Just Wonderful.
I've been going to the North End location Billy Tse's since they opened and have never been disappointed. We recently introduced our nephew to the restaurant; lucky for us, Billy was in and came to our table to say hello. The boneless spareribs are excellent (when we do takeout, we always get two orders), entrees of Sweet and Sour Duck and Beef Chow Foon were very good; I was not a fan of the Cripsy Aromatic Scrod, but nephen loved it. The mai tais are always good.
Indicated gluten friendly but only offered one option-steamed vegetables. Didn't have GF soy sauce or other options. Disappointing. A lot of other dining options in Boston. Won't be back.
As usual the food was excellent.
Freshly prepared and not oily.
Waitress was attentive without being overbearing.
Billy came by to say hello as he often does
Norttend is not just for Italian food.
I love Billy Tse. It's my favorite chinese food restaurant ever. They have such fresh food and their crab rangoons are to die for. I went for my birthday with a group of 8 and they handeled it very well. We all left very very happy.
The food at Billy Tse's was good, though not spectacular. My major complaint was with the weak and I attentive service. On two occasions, I had to remind my server (who rarely came by our table) that an item I had order had not arrived.
We were visiting Boston on a family vacation, had been eating a lot of North End Italian, and wanted a change so we found Billy Tse's nearby. It's somewhat hidden in a residential area of the North End, so the patrons are likely locals. The ambiance inside was OK but not special. The menu was very lengthy, and covered not only Chinese staples, but also Thai and Japanese-style dishes. Our Chinese dishes were prepared well, but the Thai dish missed the mark. It seemed to be made by a Chinese chef, in that it used Thai flavorings and spices but it was more Chinese in appearance and style (thickened sauce, etc.). Overall a worthwhile Chinese restaurant, modestly priced, and seemingly the only Chinese/Asian option in this neighborhood.
the lomein wasn't great but the sesame chicken was really yummy
The sweet and sour duck was great.
Great local restaurant hiding among about a hundred italian places in the North End. Billy Tse himself was present and overseeing things, he's a very pleasant and professional guy. Sushi good! Service attentive. Food overall great, not typical takeout chinese food quality - a cut above. Although we discovered that they do takeout and delivery on this visit, so this became our go-to Chinese/sushi delivery place just like that! We'd bring guests from out of town back to the restaurant, too.
Celebrated my mother's birthday here on New Year's Eve's - a fantastic evening!
One of the Best Chinese restaurants in Boston.
