Billy Berk's - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
Our meal was better than we expected! We were really looking forward to having their guacamole, and they were out. Disappointing, but understandable, with the strike in Mexico just ending and supplies being low. We had appetizers, entrees, drinks, and dessert. We weren't blown away, but we enjoyed our meal. The ambiance is really nice, and everyone is friendly. We'll be back for drinks and appetizers definitely, and maybe dinner.
We had a large group (14) for dinner during the Rock n Roll half marathon weekend. We were able to get a reservation and to get seated right away. They were very kind to split our checks for us, which made it much easier. None of us had been there before, and we were pleasantly surprised by how pretty it was and the food was AMAZING. I had the fettecini alfredo with chicken and it was delicious. Others in the group enjoyed seafood, salads, burgers, and sandwiches - all with rave reviews. We will definitely be back when we are out that way again.
This was our second time there and we ordered the same thing. I had the spicy Louisiana Prawns and he had Lamb Shank. Just as tasty this time. It does take a bit of time to get the food once ordered (that's why I didn't give a perfect score), but well worth the wait. Nice presentation, good portion size and properly cooked vegetables. We'll be back!
Imagine a fifties diner with a bar at dusk, almost empty and the hostess sits you at a table next to the only other eating. The couple does not understand how to speak in conversational tones. They were yelling at each other as if the music was playing at stadium levels. Of course we moved away to a quieter area. The salad was miniature, the rib eye steak was a strip steak. When I called the issue to the managements attention, they told me, they have only rib eye steak. No arguing with these people. Paid my bill and left.
What an ugly dinning experience!
This was our second time at Billy Berks. The waitress even remembered us from the first time! The drinks are good. I recommend the Raspberry Long Island Iced Tea. The Ceasar Salad is also really good. Overall a good experience with good food! Definitely would recommend for anyone to try.
Great place! First time there. Celebrated my daughter's 26th birthday with she and four of her friends. Food was outstanding. The lamb shanks were incredible. Everyone loved their meal, and the service was excellent! Thanks, Olivia! A nice sundae for the birthday girl was a great touch!
Our waiter James was on top of everything. He was willing to give us time when we needed it & was there quickly when needed. The drinks were great. Loved the blood orange martini & the raspberry Long Island ice tea. The food was also great from the guacamole to the skirt steak.
We stumbled across Billy Berks's and decided to try it out, it looked like a great place with a fun atmosphere and appealing menu. Immediately greeted and seated by staff, our waitress was quick to greet us and got drinks started along with our appetizer. Then things turned, one of my party ordered one of their specialty cocktails and had to send it back it was awful, the waitress advised the bartender and his reaction with his body language was disappointing. Our entrees took nearly 30 mins to arrive to our table, if they were slammed I would understand however the location wasn't busy enough to warrant that period of wait. When the food finally came out, it was pretty unsatisfying and mediocre at best. With my experience, I won't be making a return trip.
The Caesar Salad was over dressed and not a true Caesar dressing, the fried zucchini was like molten lava hot in temperature while managing to be wet and soggy and the pulled pork was soggy and lukewarm (there was no crispness from the slaw which led me to believe there was no slaw in it, but the waitress said there was).
I dined at Billy Berks's with colleagues while attending a conference. It was an easy walk from the convention center and was quite early on a Saturday night; one of the colleagues is hard of hearing, and she didn't have any trouble with background noise. The food was a cut above what I expect at a pub-type establishment.
Took my fiance to Billy Berks for a nice dinner, and it was. Rose on the table, prompt and consistent service contributed to a relaxed evening. The food was great, killed the conversation. It was all MMMM and Yum! until desert. Desert reignited the conversation. I had the ice cream in the chocolate shell (bigger than you might think!) and my fiance had the cheese cake. Both were excellent!
We chose Billy Berks for dinner before a Broadway show because it was in walking distance with a diverse menu. The Ahi poke tower was ok. The hamburger was decent.
The beer battered chicken was Horrible! It looked like a flattened frozen excuse for chicken with powdered potatoes and milky water as a gravy substitute. I didn't eat it, just asked our waitress to pack it to go. The only positive about our night was the wait staff and wine. Our waitress was great.
Sadly, we will not be going back for dinner.
This place used to have really awesome food, but the overall quality is just not what is used to be. The menu has been scaled back, but so has the quality. It used to be a favorite. The skirt steak was awesome, but this time is was so fatty and really had little flavor. This is just unfortunate.
We had a great meal celebrating New Year's Eve with friends. Our waitstaff was very attentive, made recommends, and even put the kids meals in with the appetizers so they had their meals first. The food was delicious. I love that we were at a round table so everyone could talk to everyone. I will definitely be going back.
Bar staff was friendly and prompt to take my order. I had a Mohito and the sweet potato fries which were really good. The atmosphere was exactly what I was looking for as the restaurant has a bright, fun feel. Seems like a place where people go to socialize. While it was my first time there, I would definitely go back...especially for the bar and drinks.
Billy Berks was close, well rated, and had a table. I ordered their Asian salad, lots of cabbage, peanuts, mandarin slices, and a large grilled & sliced chicken breast. Ordinary, but the dressing was delicious. My DH had the fish and chips, he thought it was ok. I expect this place is much better as a night spot, but it was decent for lunch. Service was terrific from all the staff.
Slow food service, restaurant only had 2 other people in it when our party of 5 came in. Food wasn't anything memorable, actually I can't even remember what I ordered. We had the calamari appetizer, which seemed to have more deep fried lemons then anything else. I'd skip this place next time in the area......Waiter didn't check with us prior to happy hour drinks ending, after we had already ordered off of the drink list.
It was are first experience at Billy Berk's. Locations is easy very close to Center for Performing Arts, Tech Museum, downtown. The service was excellent and the servers were friendly and helpful. Loved the feel of the restaurant. I will be sure to go back there in the future and recommend Billy Berk's to friends and family.
It was a slow night and so we had ample attention from our wait staff. The food was just "ok" and nothing special or interesting on the menu. It's labeled as a place for comfort food, but really the menu is just very random and nothing was what I would call "comfort" food. It's an odd mix of things like Chicken Marsala (wasn't so great and comes with no side, no pasta, nothing - just chicken and mushrooms with sauce), Chips and Guac, Fettuccine Alfredo, Louisiana Prawns and Steak, Beer Battered Chicken (which the waiter said not to order because it was just very plain), Mushroom Risotto and lots of other random items. It just seems like they have a lot of things and no specific focus, so none of the food is great, it's all just edible.
