Bill’s exploded into the New York burger scene in 2009 with its original Meatpacking District location, becoming an instant hit with both burger junkies and locals alike. In 2010, Bill’s Bar & Burger Rockefeller Center opened with 400 seats, making it the biggest standalone burger joint in the country. Dinner took a full hour to receive (2 sandwiches). Our side was served when we were 90% done with our food. Plus, it was overcooked and had to be sent back. My hubby worked at Ruth’s Chris for many years. If the waitstaff is “in the weeds” go and apologize or send a manager over to talk. Nothing was done. In my 30+ years of eating out, that was the first time I didn’t leave a tip.
Very mediocre. The only reason we chose to eat there was that it was close to Radio City Music Hall where we had show tickets. When we arrived- well before the dinner rush- the hostess at first couldn't find the reservation, then sent us downstairs to another hostess for seating. The second hostess sent us back upstairs despite the fact that there were many empty tables. When we finally did get seated it took more time to get menus and over 15 minutes for someone to take our order. 45 minutes later the entire order( soups, appetizers, and entrees) came out at once.
Yes, the food was hot as served, but otherwise bland. Inexpensive though.
Two hours in the place to get a bowl of soup and a hamburger. No Thanks.
Excellent spot for a pre-theater dinner. Absolutely delicious chili fries and corn chips with guacamole. Tasty burgers, and very very good gluten-free bun. Friendly, accommodating wait staff. Excellent location and a fun time before the show at Radio City Music Hall.
If you have a large group in midtown, this seems like a great place to go as it is two levels and can definitely accommodate. However, as a group of 2 who ordered after a group of 15, it took over an HOUR to get our food at 5:30pm on a Saturday. Not only were we massively delayed, but so was the large group and many other tables around no us. No comps or anything. What a waste of time.
It was so disappointing, we always visit Bills when I’m NYC and each time service isn’t the fastest, but this evening was ridiculous. We waited over 40mins for a kids grilled cheese sandwich, kids hamburger and 1 rock burger and 3 sodas. We saw 2 other tables of 5 leave, leave without receiving their meals. So disappointed that our last visit to Bills was memorable for all the wring reasons.
Overpriced burgers but what do u expect in NYC
Have had much better burgers for much less and those even came with fries not a separate charge
Tables are crammed together literally had to ask guy next to us to get up so I could go to bathroom. Stick with bottled beer mixed drinks so weak not worth the $14 per
Totally ignored our Open Table reservation. Tried to give us a pager and 20-30 minute wait. Gave us cramped bar table after complaint to manager. Then served us cold food. Unpleasant. Unprofessional. Unwelcoming. Won't be returning. There are far better choices in Midtown.
We were in NYC and my son and I wanted burgers for dinner. It was our first time and we really enjoyed the burgers, shakes and nachos. Great value and fun atmosphere. The service was a little slow but that's because it was very crowded - they should probably hire more people
My waiter was outstanding, he was funny, welcoming, consistently communicated with us and let us know when everything would be coming out.. The food was off the hook. All the ingredients were clearly fresh, the pickles had a snap to them, the burgers gushed juice, the buns were soft and not greasy.. 10/10 would reccomend
The burgers were great. We ordered apps to have before the burgers but then the burgers came out. We had to ask about the apps and they brought them immediately and apologized but they had clearly forgotten them and the plates had been sitting under a heat lamp. Not the end of the world but somewhat disappointing.
Although there were empty tables hostess was telling us it was 20 min wait. We waited around and I asked hostess again about the empty tables. She told me the table was not set. So it seems we were waiting around for someone to put silverware on the table! The hostess eventually put the silveware on the table herself and came back to seat us. Our server was great! Food was sub par. Slider buns were hard and fries were cold.
I gave the restaurant a poor rating in all categories even though we never got to eat anything. I made a reservation via Open Table for January 18th for 3 people at 6:00 p.m. When we arrived, the area around the hostess station was crowded with people, all who had reservations and were told the same thing as we were - no tables were available. We were given a beeper and told to wait. After about 20 minutes I approached the hostess station and was told that there were still 4 parties ahead of us. I questioned the hostess as to how could that be when we had a 6:00 reservation and was told that prior to our arrival she had seated people without reservations. The manager came over and told me we would be seated as soon as a table was available. Looking around, it appeared that no one was even close to being finished and we had an 8:00 show. He said that the hostess made an error by seating people without reservations. Really!!!!
We left as did several other groups and walked across the street to Johnny Utah's where we were immediately seated and served.

After over 45min waiting for a table we walked out. They had a speed dating event downstairs, that's why only half the restaurant could be used. Everyone around me with a reservation was angry and frustrated. The ladies at the front just shrugged their shoulders and didn't care.
Research a good burger place near our hotel and found this restaurant. The food was horrible. The sliders were under cooked and greasy like a Krystal’s. Sweet potato fries were ok. Regular fries were ok as well. The ambiance is good and the place was packed! I can’t believe anyone would wait 40 minutes for this food. Save yourself. Go somewhere else I can’t for the life of me understand why this place has a good rating.....
