Bijou Cafe Ratings and Reviews
Savor Sarasota menu was just fair. Selection was very limited. Friends got the duck and huge amounts of stuffing with little amount of duck. I got the grouper with vegetables and thought the fish was good, but veg was just ok and small amount. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants in Sarasota and in the last year or so we noticed the prices increase and the quantity diminish, which makes me unhappy and not want to return. At Rosemary the servings are much larger and much less expensive. At Hyde Park last night the Savor Sarasota menu was fantastic.
The Bijou was excellent as always. There were 6 in our party and we were seated promptly and the server came over right away for our drink orders. We were on a special dinner event-Savor Sarasota-so had a special menu for a 3 course dinner. All the items were very tasty-especially the crème brulee.
Bijou Cafe is our favorite restaurant in downtown Sarasota. Food is consistently excellent and service is friendly and very professional. The menu is creative. We enjoyed steak and chicken Paillard. Savor Sarasota menu has interesting choices. Love the pistachio gelato for dessert. Always the best experience. Happy hour is special too.
This was next on our list of places to try around the Florida Studio Theater. Our favorite place closed, and we have found some highly rated, pricey places in the area somewhat disappointing. We were pleasantly surprised by the Bijou Cafe. Yes, the decor and menu are not up to the latest trends, but they do what they do very well. We both enjoyed the trio of soups as an appetizer. One of us had the crab cakes and the other that evenings fish special which was a grilled grouper served with quinoa, faro, and a peach cucumber relish. Both were very good. The price on the fish special was a slight sticker shock when the bill came as it was on the upper end of menu prices although there were no super fancy ingredients.
My husband had the N.Y. strip ... perfectly prepared (larger asparagus could have been peeled at end to prevent "woodiness"). My roast duck with accompanying sauces and fruit stuffing was excellent. I was really pleased with the crispy duck skin ... which is a "must" for me.
Excellent assistance from server in selecting and organizing meal choices. Very tasty and original dishes served in an unhurried manner conducive to good conversation and appreciation of the wine and cuisine. Appreciated a quieter environment with good ambience. Restaurant is well located close to major hotels.
A nice evening meal with friends, compromised by a very noisy table next to ours ( a rarity at the Bijou) and one of our entrees, a chicken dish which was tough and overcooked, also a rarity for the Bijou. Still a favorite and will get better as the busy season diminishes.
We were warmly welcomed and escorted to a cozy table by a window. Service was excellent. Well informed staff made good recommendations. Trout was perfectly prepared. Veal chop almost too much to eat! For dessert be sure to order indulgence trio.
Probably fifth time dining here and it's always a great evening.
Stopped in for a nice dinner with my daughter on a Friday evening. The restaurant and our meal hit the spot. All the food we had was very good, including both the excellent beet citrus salad and the perfectly cooked fresh fish of the day. This restaurant will definitely be on our list of recommendations to others and our list of places to return to when we're back in the area.
It was Easter. My wife and I went. I ordered lamb chops and my wife had a chicken dish.
It was busy but not packed. In addition we had lobster bisque. The soup was XLT. We waited a long time and the lamb came cold and the chicken came burnt. We refused the dishes. And offered to pay for the soup and the wine. The owner came and apologized. she refused to accept payment for the Soup and the wine. she assured us this is not who they are and pleaded with us to try them again.
We will try them again.
