Great server Grayson. Ask for something and it’s there. Nice ambiance. Order special potatoes for table, yummy. Strip steak cooked perfectly but a little chewy in parts. Duck was delicious and stuffed too. Shrimp dish w/grits very tasty. A great special occasion place.
Long-time Sarasota favorite!
For many years we went to the Bijou when we wanted lamb and it was always the best. This last time was a big disappointment as the presentation had changed and the sauce was not good. We still like the restaurant and will go back.
Lovely food, straightforward and well prepared. Nice but small table, noisy neighbors, lovely decor. The food here is good, French inspired and very well done with attention to detail. Options for smaller appetites and the best potatoes dauphinois you will ever eat.
Food was excellent as was the service highly recommended
Nice atmosphere in an interesting old building. Excellent food and service. Prices comparable with other higher end Sarasota restaurants.
Excellent food and service, as always. It was a busy day but service was timely and friendly. The Bijou is my favorite business lunch venue but it's so much more for others. One cannot go wrong having a meal there (unless they're looking for beer and hotdogs on the beach).
Food was not exceptional. Server was not polished. It was an “OK” not great experience.
Bijou Cafe never disappoints us with their fine food and personal service. Karen and Greyson are first class and take care of our every need.
Always a pleasure to dine here! The dining room is lovely, wait staff are experienced, (this young woman waitress a delight), and the food consistently very good. Menu tends toward the traditional, and at this lunch several of us really enjoyed the chicken salad with fennel and apple while one member of our group ordered his perennial favorite, piri piri shrimp. Also tasty was the crab and avocado salad.
The Bijou does not disappoint. You will enjoy the exceptional dining experience. An iconic restaurant with all the right "bells and whistles. " A great place to celebrate any special occasion.
One of our favorite restaurants so hopefully just an "off evening." I have given Bijou rave reviews in the past. We have dined there no less than 20 times in the past few years so this was a big disappointment. While our experiences have not always been great they have always been the norm for a restaurant of this caliber.
The service usually goes from good to excellent depending on who you get, in the future we know to request only our favorite servers.
The server was slow to get to the table then the first drinks took 10 minutes. The dinner was early (before theater) so being "busy" couldn't be an excuse. We ordered bottled water and it was placed in a nice bucket behind the table which due to the lack of attention we continually had to reach back and serve ourselves Not a great hardship but finally we just moved the bottle to the center of the table. Our drinks were empty long enough that we didn't order a second round. We determined the service at the Theater would be better, it was.
The food was also "off." Two of the standard dishes Trout and Duck. The trout was dry and the duck was over cooked.
Hopefully just a slip up but of course the restaurant knows their servers and we had this one in the pas and, he was terrible then as well. The food is a mystery. We'll try again before taking Bijou off our list of restaurants we frequent.
Wonderful as usual!
Great service and food. Nice variety of entrees and accommodated special requests
Great food, and a yea wine list. We will be back soon....
The good was of high quality, service was efficient to fetvusctonour show.
The service was outstanding. The air conditioning was down in the room we were first assigned, but we were graciously escorted to another room. The food was beautifully cooked, but some things, like the lamb shank, could have used a bit more flavor.
We always enjoy our Bijou experience. Food is wonderful and their staff is always professional, pleasant and knowledgeable. Look forward to going back soon.
Always a wonderful experience at The Bijou Cafe. Wonderful ambiance, food and service add up to a most pleasant dinner. There is a reason that they have been in operation for decades; go and find out for yourself. You won't be disappointed.
Lovely evening with good service and refined atmosphere.
Special Easter dinner w friend s who’d never been, they loved the food and cozy feeling of the restaurant. Service was a big disorganized and our server walked away without taking one of our party’s drink order. We are frequent guests and always enjoy.
I did not like my meal and my friend said that the shrimp dish was very salty.
great food, great waiter, pleasant dining room, if the restaurant were closer to us we would dine here more often.
The duck was fabulous, the trout was just OK. Service was very good,
Felt the waiter wasn't as attentive as he should have been. I think because we mainly just ordered entree's
wonderful! wonderful!-food-service enjoyed it all
As usual, fabulous! We were a party of 11 but had booked 2 tables. When they learned of this when we arrived, they put us all together at a square table in a private room. These people are the best!
Wonderful to celebrate birthday!
Always a great meal, service is great.
This is a favorite restaurant for so many of the local people. While it is just perfect for the theater because of the location the location is convenient with parking and of course valet. This time I had the duck, which was not only very reasonably price but was just excellent.
Kathi was our server and as always ahead of our every need. Smart and competent are wonderful traits she is a true professional. The entire team takes care of the customer and you will never want for anything while dining at Bijou cafe.
Great food, great waitress.
Food was the star of the show! My tuna entree had spectacular flavors as did my partner’s spicy shrimp dish. Nice wine selection. Perfect place for dinner if you are going to the opera or the FST.
Great food with a waitress that had a personality.
Very upscale. Great place to have dinner either before or after the opera (it's across the street). Not a place for kids. The food is always perfectly cooked and delicious. The service is top notch.
Beautiful dining room, excellent service and delicious food.
The food, as always, was excellent and nice choice of wines in several price ranges. Cocktails quite good. The small dining room to the side is our favorite as the sun beams in through lush vegetation and it is quiet enough for a good conversation. We had a efficient if somewhat perfunctory waitress. It is located perfectly for dinner before an opera or a play. Make reservations to avoid disappointment! Lovely spot!
First time. Now our favourite restaurant in Sarasota!
Wonderful dinner for special birthday celebration. Wait staff (Lisa) was fabulous. Attentive without hovering. Manager dropped the ball when sibling phoned in for a bottle of champagne, but was appropriately apologetic. Dinner was fabulous esp. the lamb shank. Pricey but memorable celebration. Would unconditionally recommend.
Delicious and staff was great !
I have been coming year for eight years: the standards are consistently high. The rack of lamb is extremely good and the potato dauphinois really super
