Bijou Cafe Ratings and Reviews
What a wonderful restaurant! We only had one night in Sarasota on the weekend ( first visit to Sarasota) and picked The Bijou Cafe for dinner. Quiet, comfortable, nicely organized into different smaller rooms and a separate bar. Fab menu and attentive service. Highly recommend.
One of my favorite restaurants in Sarasota.....recommend it highly....food excellent, service superb and environment is just right. Not too quiet so you think the restaurant doesn't have a following and not so noisy that you can't have a conversation....it is just right
Atmosphere and service was great but I was disappointed with my vegetarian meal. It was missing an important ingredient from the description (brought to the table after I spoke up). I found the dish to be very bland and overpriced when you considered how much the vegetables would cost in the store.
Bijou is still one of our favorite Sarasota restaurants, and our latest visit didn't disappoint. The food is first-rate, the preparation commendable and the service attentive and professional. My only gripe is the overhead lights are a bit bright at night - how about turning them down a notch for evening dining?
Somewhat disappointing given that we have been coming for many years. Special veal chop was dry and relatively small. Priced at $45 and just too expensive for what it was. Food was tepid at best. May give it one more try.
This is one of our go-to places in downtown Sarasota. Everything about it is outstanding. The menu, the staff, the drinks and the atmosphere are all the best you can find in Sarasota for continental cuisine. We had dinner there with a friend the other night and even though they were slammed by a post theatre crowd some with no reservations, they managed to keep the service level and the food exceptional. We had a great evening!
A lovely space, excellent, friendly staff, unhurried service that gives diners the time to enjoy an excellent meal. The Shrimp and Lobster Bisque was the best I’ve ever had, and the special that included beautiful scallops and a ramekin of lobster mac & cheese...oh, my! Desserts are fabulous as well—if you can save room! We’ll be back!
Everything about the Bijou Cafe is so special - the food, the ambiance, the service - that you can't help but feel special while you're there. The bisque is legendary, the rack of lamb is perfection, the potatoes are to wonderful, and Grayson, our excellent waiter over the years, is delightful. The Bijou is a superb restaurant for people of any age who enjoy fine dining with a touch of class.
living in Sarasota we have a great many good restaurants and Bijou is right up with the best. It is the perfect place for before or after the theater or just a great night on the town.
The atmosphere is a little dressier than flip flops and shorts but there are no shortage of laid back restaurants that you can lounge in Sarasota. You won't get turned away but Bijou patrons are a little more high end. You may get food and service but this dinning experience might be better enjoyed if you wear something from the far end of your closet. The tables are well spaced so you will not be unintentionally sharing conversations.
Service was just perfect, never had to ask never had to wait and the food was five star. I have been there before an gave a lower review (4.5) but this time. .about a perfect dining experience.
The Bijou is a special restaurant where Sarasotans go for fine dining. It’s the place to see and be seen. White table cloths, fresh flowers, wonderful waiters, delicious food and a lovely ambiance. It’s perfect for a business lunch or a special occasion. They also have private rooms for parties.
Have been a Fan of this restaurant since it opened in the mid 1980s. Have recently amped up our dining out at this level and rediscovered how awesome this venue is in may respects.
This is our go to for any meal out that we would consider special. Have tried numerous menu items and daily specials, all great, but frankly hard to move from the pepper steak and the duck.
My red snapper special was over cooked some. Too dry. My date’s trout was perfect (I sampled it). Moist and tender. I come here every other month before the ballet at the OH. First time my the fish was sub-standard.
Unfortunately I’ve read your restaurant has a poor level of cleanliness. Too bad, i’ll Have to find another near the Opera House.
