Excellent service and fresh seafood dishes.
Wonderful meal with a wonderful ,considerate, accommodating and pleasant waiter..Mathew!
No., We are not his parents!!
Wonderful. Have been in Sarasota for years but for some reason had never been to “The Bijou” (as our terrific waitress Jennifer referred to it). Food was outstanding and the ambiance perfect. A bit pricey but worth it. Is that a contradiction? Not to me. I will return for sure.
Service and setting were excellent. Beet salad and the side dish of grilled vegetables that came with chicken paillard were superb. Strip steak and the actual chicken paillard were lacking in flavor.
Always a special treat to go to the Bijou Cafe. They treat you as special guests on every visit. Food is wonderful and is prepared as expected of a fine restaurant. Always a nice experience to dine here.
We had a great meal. Well timed. The bisque was delicious. Salads were good. Guests were happy with the lamb and I enjoyed the Strip Steak. Brussel Sprouts and potatoes were very good! Our server Kathi was great!
Excellent service! Food was amazing...highly recommend the crab cakes, and the Brussels sprouts were the best I have ever had! Cannot wait to go back!
This is the best restaurant in downtown Sarasota for lunch connections with friends.
Excellent service, food and location! I would highly recommend Bijou Cafe!
We had a luncheon for eight people. Our server was just terrific. She doubled our enjoyment with her humor and efficiency. There were many different dishes ordered. All eight people were delighted with their their choice.
Could not have asked for a better experience.
Good food, good service. Price is a little high
We were there on Valentines and though it was crowded, everyone from the bartender to the wait staff were efficient and friendly. Food was great as it always is!
Entree was well prepared and served hot. Duck was scrumptious, the Vouvray on your wine list could use an upgrade....a better quality perhaps. Service was very good, the young lady very attentive. I most appreciate a low noise level wherever we chose to dine. Hope to return soon. We filled out inquiry card.
Always take our out of town guests here for a treat. Everything is always excellent.
We sat outside on the terrace which is lovely.
The service was marred by the waitress you stacked our plates for clearing and then left the stacked plates on the table for the bus help to remove. Unbelievable!
I'll start with what everyone reads reviews for- The food was superb. The steak was the best steak i have ever had in my life. My fiance got the tuna and she absolutely loved it. We got the crab cakes for an appetizer. PHENOMENAL! Service was great, ambiance was great, overall a lovely evening! Will definitely go back. My fiance and I wanted to go to a nice restaurant to celebrate Valentines Day. We went on Wednesday, the day before Valentines Day. We were early but our table was ready right when our reservation was set for. We got a drink at the bar while waiting. The outside area is lovely with the decorative lights and the street scene is quaint. I could not have envisioned a better evening for us . Thank You Bijou Cafe!
Happy hour patrons took preference over diners so our drink orders were delayed
One of the best restaurants I’ve been to in awhile. Nicely decorated , great food and excellent service.
Think one of the best restaurants in Sarasota; the restaurant we go to frequently with visitors.
Always love this place! The menu never changes (a plus or a minus depending on your perspective) and the service is the most professional in the area. They do not clear before everyone is done! I’m fond of their chicken paillard (excellent) and the Caesar salad is also very good. And the lovely dining room with plenty of sound absorbers means you can have a real conversation without having to yell.
Enjoyed a delightful dinner with friends. Have been many times for Happy Hour on the patio.
Food and service was excellent as always. It’s a great restaurant to go to and can have a conversation with friends because of the low noise level.
Excellent well prepared meal. Fish was cooked perfectly, not dry or undercooked..
Excellent service. Great food. Loved our lunch
I had Coq au Vin - it was good - but not to die for. I had hoped for something spectacular. My husband had red snapper. It was well prepared - but again, not to die for. For the price - we should have both been overwhelmed, and we were not.
Overall just ok for the price
Awesome place. Our server was friendly and very attentive. The food 5 stars. The atmosphere allowed for our dinner conversation with no issues. We will be back, soon,
Consistently excellent. Entrees: duck, filet mignon and lamb chops all garnered rave reviews! Returning in 2 weeks with other out of town guests, because we know we can depend on Bijou Cafe to give us a wonderful dining experience.
A great place for a business dinner or a date.
We were a group of 8 for a Birthday Dinner--the service was lovely and everyone bent over backward to make it a special night. And the new Vegan quinoa option was yummy!
Thank you so much!
We have patronize This Resturant for years and we have only had two meodica dinners,Sat was one such.
We started going to Bijou about six years ago and generally had dinner there 4-6 times a season. However, last year we did not go at all so we were really looking forward to returning this year. As hoped, they have stayed much the same.
Their cocktails were excellent; we are not wine drinkers. I had the duck and my wife had the crab cakes. Both were excellent. We also shared an appetizer of roasted beets and had geloto for dessert. The service was excellent. Tables are well spaced and while the dining room was full at 7 PM, the noise level was low.
However, all these positives do not come cheap and our tab was $170, which is high for Sarasota but just 'normal' for where we are from; the Northeast.
Had a wonderful dinner, and the waitress was attentive and went above and beyond to make our experience great.
Wonderful experience. Fabulous food. Consistent and great as usual
Excellent as always.
Very nice restaurant The server was well trsined
Our third visit over many years, though being seasonal residents now we will likely be back more often. Prior visits were 5 stars.
This visit had a few blips. The good: great and very large martini, beet salads for my wife and daughter were excellent, daughters quinoa bowel excellent, likewise wife’s red snapper.
Not so good: my tuna while tasty was very grisly (could only cut it with the grain) and my chocolate mousse had lots of of whipped cream (too much for me) and the mousse was quite heavy, lacking the kind airy texture I would prefer.
So the ladies would give it 5 stars while I’d say that it may have been one of those off nights. Will certainly be back to see if our fondest memories can be repeated.
Our party of 5 had a disappointing experience. The salmon was overcooked, dry and not fresh tasting. The filet was not cooked as ordered and had a sauce that tasted like it came from a can. The highlight of the evening was a delightful Old Fashion made by an apparently skilled bartender.
We have been here several times and have never been disappointed...everything about the experience is wonderful.
