Bigelow Grille
I had the burger, my dad had the scallops and thoroughly enjoyed them. The service was great
Food was fantastic. Service top notch. Traffic put us a bit behind our reservation and they were completely accommodating.
It seemed like they were short on staff, but our waitress was very pleasant. Food was excellent.
Food was good. Not very crowded, but service was still slow. Ambiance is awful. It’s brightly lit, sparsely decorated, and feels more like a college cafeteria than a fine restaurant.
Delicious Bigelow salad with chicken , very fresh. Service was great!
There were pieces of hard plastic in our mac & cheese. They did comp the meal for us but still a little depressing to find pieces of plastic in your mac & cheese
Always come here before a game or concert for pre-show dinner and I always get the salmon salad-one of my favorites in the city. But they have changed the salad completely. It was a piece of salmon on a bed of shaved Brussels with lemon juice and a light dressing. So good and plenty filling. Now it’s salmon on about four big lettuce leaves with slivers of onion and a couple cherry tomatoes. Basic and boring, like something you would get as a side at an Italian place that knows you’re not there for salad. But bigelow is still charging $16 for it!!! So very disappointing.
Waitress was great-not her fault.
We were attending the Cirque du soliel Ovo event PPG Arena and had a cozy corner seat. We were mildy surprised at the lack of diners. However, it was great to be able to enjoy a wonderful, peaceful meal enhanced by our personable server, Maggie. Our meals were cooked to perfection and despite the rain it was an enjoyable experience.
Bad service and food was just okay
Staff took a long time for everything and they weren't even that busy. Food was expensive for the lack of service. I was a bit disappointed I must say as it the restaurant got rather good reviews.
Dean was great! We were given the private room...really appreciated that, only problem was the hostess stand phone ringing right outside the open doorway to our private room.
The food was very good quality and enjoyable. The service was fine. Not very much of a menu selection.
Absolutely terrible service. We have dined there previously as it is close to the PPG arena and had no problems. Things have changed for the worse & they no longer seem to get the crowd, probably due to poor service & so-so food.
Difficult to make a reservation. No one answers the phone. It's only a lunch or dinner reservation and the restaurant employees should make it. Why did you complicate it with computerization?
Love eating here before a Pens game. Best Cosmo in town! I'm always looking for organic and locally sourced food at restaurants and this one has both. Hard to find in our area, unfortunately. Menu is different and changing. Portions are large so I order appetizers. Wish there were more small plate items, but appetizers work.
Food quality excellent. Very noisy due to a party and the service slow due to same reason.
We come to the Bigelow Grille every once in a while. We really enjoy sitting at the bar when Dean is working, he really makes the visit a great time!
The food was tasty, but the service was slow and the prices are high.
Went to Bigelow Grille before a Penguin Game. Very good food and service. Definitely, will return.
Due to a concert in the area this was the only restaurant where we could get a reservation before 8pm. Ut was conveniently located at our hotel. The menu online looked promising but the menu when we arrived did not match what was online and was pretty limited. My husband was looking for a pasta dish. The only pasta dish was a chicken Mac and Cheese. We both enjoyed our food, but it was expensive and given the limited options, a bit disappointing.
Service was not good. We felt like we were rushed through our meal once a server finally came to greet us (15 minutes after being sat). However, the food was great.
Good lunch spot tho pricey
Our group of 5 ordered a variety of meals from the scallops (which I ordered) to a burger to the filet. Everything was wonderful. The serving sizes were perfect, each option was delicious, and the price was reasonable.
This restaurant in the Double Tree Hotel was almost empty for dinner on a Sunday night, but it has an interesting menu and nice staff. It's on the higher price end for an ordinary meal, but the food was all really delicious and good quality. We tried the fried chicken sandwich, the steak, the duck, and the scallops (which are technically an appetizer but enough for a small plate). They have cocktails which we didn't try this time. I can recommend it for dining as a couple, a family, or with friends if you are in the Downtown area and want a quiet meal where you don't have to shout to talk with each other.
Always enjoy the seasonal menu. Great ingredients, fresh, real food. Perfect lunch spot.
Request: Consider always having a vegan/vegetarian entree option.
Our experience was fantastic! Lauren provided a wonderful dining experience and was both kind and courteous. She provided helpful suggestions about the specials and recommended menu items. Our food was delivered in a timely manner and was delicious. We were having a very important business lunch meeting and our guests were very impressed with the location we pick to have lunch. Thank you for providing such a great experience.
A lovely and responsive waitress attended us, and the ambiance was very nice. The food is good—just a bit high priced for what you get.
I had reservations for two. We were seated right away, but after 15 minutes of waiting, no one had even come to our table to bring water. I eventually went to the hostess to tell her we hadn't seen a server. She didn't apologize, but said someone would be right over. It was still at least 5 minutes before we got a server. She asked if we "had a chance" to look at the menu, and I said yes, we had been there 20 minutes. She also didn't apologize.
The food is overpriced, and the menu is very limited. I doubt anyone would go here if it weren't for the location.
Great experience and amazing food. Only weird thing was a manager came over and took the salt off of our table while we were sitting at it and gave it to another table and didn't even ask. Thought that was quite rude. At lease he could have asked but other then that it was really great! Got the pulled chicken mac and cheese. So creamy and tasty
Great evening prior to concert. Food was good, service exceptional. Great pre concert or game stop.
Slower than usual service even though restaurant was not full. Smaller portion on my favorite salmon salad than usual-not good considering how much you pay for it. $5 house wines special is a good deal.
Great as always!!
Pleasant time, friendly service
I would compare the food to maybe an Applebee’s but 2-3 times the price. It was a nice restaurant though.
Dined for a team celebration lunch. Everyone raved about their entrée. Well done Bigelow Grille! Def our go to spot in downtown....
We went to this restaurant on a Friday night for a quick bite before walking around the city. There was hardly anyone there at 6:30...which tells you something. Although the service was great, the food was not good. We tried 2 different soups and both were OK...but for $9 a bowl, I was expecting something much better. The Mac-and-cheese with chicken was tart and overly rich. The Pastrami sandwich was OK but overpriced. The gnocchi was over-cooked.
Great! Went there before a concert and had excellent service. Meatballs w polenta was awesome!
Everything we had from drinks, entrees, and dessert was wonderful!
Service was good, but food was over cooked and tasteless. Hard to mess up a ribeye, but they did. Over cooked and salty.
Great food, highly recommend the cheese/meat board! Wow!! Service was amazing. Great experience.
