Went to Bigelow Grille before a Penguin Game. Very good food and service. Definitely, will return.
Due to a concert in the area this was the only restaurant where we could get a reservation before 8pm. Ut was conveniently located at our hotel. The menu online looked promising but the menu when we arrived did not match what was online and was pretty limited. My husband was looking for a pasta dish. The only pasta dish was a chicken Mac and Cheese. We both enjoyed our food, but it was expensive and given the limited options, a bit disappointing.
Service was not good. We felt like we were rushed through our meal once a server finally came to greet us (15 minutes after being sat). However, the food was great.
Good lunch spot tho pricey
Our group of 5 ordered a variety of meals from the scallops (which I ordered) to a burger to the filet. Everything was wonderful. The serving sizes were perfect, each option was delicious, and the price was reasonable.
This restaurant in the Double Tree Hotel was almost empty for dinner on a Sunday night, but it has an interesting menu and nice staff. It's on the higher price end for an ordinary meal, but the food was all really delicious and good quality. We tried the fried chicken sandwich, the steak, the duck, and the scallops (which are technically an appetizer but enough for a small plate). They have cocktails which we didn't try this time. I can recommend it for dining as a couple, a family, or with friends if you are in the Downtown area and want a quiet meal where you don't have to shout to talk with each other.
Always enjoy the seasonal menu. Great ingredients, fresh, real food. Perfect lunch spot.
Request: Consider always having a vegan/vegetarian entree option.
Our experience was fantastic! Lauren provided a wonderful dining experience and was both kind and courteous. She provided helpful suggestions about the specials and recommended menu items. Our food was delivered in a timely manner and was delicious. We were having a very important business lunch meeting and our guests were very impressed with the location we pick to have lunch. Thank you for providing such a great experience.
A lovely and responsive waitress attended us, and the ambiance was very nice. The food is good—just a bit high priced for what you get.
I had reservations for two. We were seated right away, but after 15 minutes of waiting, no one had even come to our table to bring water. I eventually went to the hostess to tell her we hadn't seen a server. She didn't apologize, but said someone would be right over. It was still at least 5 minutes before we got a server. She asked if we "had a chance" to look at the menu, and I said yes, we had been there 20 minutes. She also didn't apologize.
The food is overpriced, and the menu is very limited. I doubt anyone would go here if it weren't for the location.
Great experience and amazing food. Only weird thing was a manager came over and took the salt off of our table while we were sitting at it and gave it to another table and didn't even ask. Thought that was quite rude. At lease he could have asked but other then that it was really great! Got the pulled chicken mac and cheese. So creamy and tasty
Great evening prior to concert. Food was good, service exceptional. Great pre concert or game stop.
Slower than usual service even though restaurant was not full. Smaller portion on my favorite salmon salad than usual-not good considering how much you pay for it. $5 house wines special is a good deal.
Great as always!!
Pleasant time, friendly service
I would compare the food to maybe an Applebee’s but 2-3 times the price. It was a nice restaurant though.
Dined for a team celebration lunch. Everyone raved about their entrée. Well done Bigelow Grille! Def our go to spot in downtown....
We went to this restaurant on a Friday night for a quick bite before walking around the city. There was hardly anyone there at 6:30...which tells you something. Although the service was great, the food was not good. We tried 2 different soups and both were OK...but for $9 a bowl, I was expecting something much better. The Mac-and-cheese with chicken was tart and overly rich. The Pastrami sandwich was OK but overpriced. The gnocchi was over-cooked.
Great! Went there before a concert and had excellent service. Meatballs w polenta was awesome!
Everything we had from drinks, entrees, and dessert was wonderful!
Service was good, but food was over cooked and tasteless. Hard to mess up a ribeye, but they did. Over cooked and salty.
Great food, highly recommend the cheese/meat board! Wow!! Service was amazing. Great experience.
I had been at the Bigelow Grille many times over the years and never had a complaint. It was a long while since I had been there, so on our way to a Cher concert at PPG Arena, our group of ladies made a reservation there and we thoroughly enjoyed our time, our meals, and..... our FABulous cocktails (Blackberry and Champagne Sparklers and Margaritas )! The minute we walked in we were seated immediately and the weather was so nice we had to sit and relax outside on the patio. There was only occasional traffic noise which was even hard to hear as we were engrossed in our chit chat among us! We ordered the mac n cheese with chicken and several different types of flatbread pizzas - all of which were as good as the next! Our server was quick to give us our drinks and served our food hot and we had a lovely time! We will definitely be going back again and again! :)
There's nothing on the menu! All new comers have the same reaction: can I see the full menu? Thoroughly uninteresting.
Been to the grille several times prior to this night, food wasn't up to par on this night, perhaps it was a different cook. Chicken sandwich was very dry and hard too crunchy to enjoy. The mac and cheese was missing some chicken in my opinion.
New menu in last month after several years. Had some new items that were good, but got rid of tater tots, which we always loved. Service was very good and food quality fine.
The food was delicious, service was even better! The high top chairs in the dining area are impractical and should be replaced. A member of my party kept sliding off, couldn’t get comfortable, and almost fell.
Everything about the restaurant was good, with the exception of the menu. If you plan on visiting on an evening when there is a special event, such as a concert, you may want to double check the menu. We went before going to the Kiss concert and they only offered a very very limited menu. Even the regular menu is nowhere near what it used to be. The food was good, and the service was very good, yet it was still just a mediocre dining experience.
Food and service were both very good. Great option for dinner before an event at PPG Center
Food was good but a very limited menu.
We had a private room which worked great for our small group, but otherwise it would have been very noisy out at a regular table...
Although there is a small menu, the food is very good. I had the salmon salad with bulgar and Brussel sprouts and it was delicious and the perfect size portion - not too big.
Great low key spot for good food. My wife is gluten free and found the menu easy to order from. The waiter was kind and suggested a few night spots to check out after dinner!
Limited choices. Saw someone had soup at a later seating - did not know there where items off the menu?
Good food thst we ordered.
Menu online was much bigger than what we given to choose from on the Menu on site. Online was a selection of over 40 choices , it was shrunk to maybe 10 because there was a “new chef”, that’s false advertising to me , also very loud, food was good though! Wouldn’t reccomend until they got their menu together more , I had to get something I normally wouldn’t because of limited choices.
The food was not as good as we hoped u fortunately. Great location close to the arena however the prime rib was very fatty and no accompaniment with it and the crab cake was a single crab cake for the dinner. Was sadly disappointed.
The $15 “brunch” was what you would get at a Holiday Inn Express, oh but they did have a made-to-order station. In the “buffet line” were powdered eggs, cold sausages and bacon, terrible Danish, hard bread for toast.
The homeless lady sitting next to us who kept packing and repacking her bags simply added to the overall experience.
Oh, did I mention it was $15???
Not a good time.
We were there for breakfast. Food was great and so was the service.
Great food, great service. Servers are friendly and the price point is great, for the food you receive.
This is a decent option. Not bad, not great. Convenient for Penguin game nights.
Superb service, delicious entrees, and a comfortable setting. Very convenient for a pre-event meal scheduled for PPG Arena. Easy walking distance from PPG arena parking areas.
Appreciated seating in their “private” dining room.....grand kids thought that was extra special!
Thanks to our waiter who was friendly and welcoming.
