It was very special, and just what we wanted. The food was amazing, and the staff was friendly and attentive. Our server, Kate, was fantastic, and took the time to make sure our meal, and evening, was special. The view from our table was equally amazing. Thank you to Big Water Grille for a very special, and outstanding experience.
We've been to The Big Water Grill many times and it did not disappoint. I had the duck breast which was superb and my husband had the filet. We both were so impressed with the food and our server. We had a table at the window overlooking the lake and they started us off with a glass of bubbly for our anniversary. Had a bottle of Belle Gloss Pinot. Great time! You've got to try it when you're anywhere near Incline Village.
Overall very pleased, but my lady’s vodka tonic was flat, both of them and we returned them, the second never should have arrived. My dish, Mary’s chicken was great! The wine was great, both white and red and the port was awesome. The ambiance was outstanding with a lake sunset and early evening lights on Lake Tahoe.
Alex was the consummate waitress: friendly, attentive, and spot-on, though casually aware, with our orders. The deck was nicely heated and allowed late evening dining on the deck so we could enjoy the incredible ambiance of the lake and the setting sun over the distant hills . Food was spectacular in presentation, flavor and temperature: they really were attentive to serving up gourmet dining in a way that could be truly appreciated.
When the weather is clear and warm, their outdoor patio offers very pleasant dining surrounded by tall pines and great views of the lake. Inside, the tables are comfortable and not crowded. The food was very good - ahi prepared perfectly and an excellent caprese salad. If you're in the Incline Village area, the restaurant is very convenient.
Big Water Grille never disappoints and this was no exception. Salads were superb and we shared an appetizer portion of the grilled ahi which was to die for. Since we were drinking an aged hearty wine, we both ordered the filet mignon. It was perfection on a plate! This restaurant is always a good choice!
This was the second time in recent weeks that we've brought guests to BWG. The service, facility, view, etc. was as one would expect being in Tahoe. What really differentiates BWG from their competitors for us has been the food. Our last trip split ordered with the men having Halibit and the ladies having Ahi. This time we had Halibit and Pork loin. Absolutely over the top both times with us and out guests!!
This was our third visit to Big Water Grille and we were pleased to find that the food was outstanding this time around . The ingredients were all fresh and well seasoned . We found the portion size to be appropriate as I ordered the halibut entrée in a smaller size but it was still satisfying . The coffee rubbed pork tenderloin was cooked well with a touch of pink and the fresh peach side was the perfect accompaniment . We also enjoyed the ganache and caramel dessert as a great ending to a lovely meal .
We are new part time residents to the Diamond Peak area and went to Big Water for my husband's birthday. It was nice but not exceptional, maybe 3-3 1/2 stars at best. Some things were great, others missed the mark. The favorite was probably my husband's lamb cannelloni which was an all around nice dish. The least favorite was my drink with blackberry and thyme, which I sent back asking for more blackberry and thyme, as had been weakly added, but it came back exactly the same. I have had this drink elsewhere where it was purple in color full of fruit and herb, whereas this one was light pink and barely flavored, my guess just a syrup added, likely not fresh fruit at all. My husband liked his sazerac.
My main dish duck breast dish was a bit undercooked in the middle, the skin not really crispy and the corn succotash although being the best part of the dish was dry and did not come together as it was dry elements of corn and cherries, etc on the plate. It was supposed to have corn pudding, which I love and was looking forward to, but it was more of a thin paste smeared over the top and the strawberry compote was nowhere to be found. My deconstructed peach and prosciutto salad was a bit too deconstructed as there was a rolled wad of prosciutto that was difficult to cut into pieces to add to the other components. My husband's caprese was typical/average. The rice pudding for desert was a dry and firm, the cornflakes on top were interesting, but made it feel like breakfast. It had exactly one cut cherry on top and probably 4 small bits of mango, so they didn't really add anything. All in all, average. We were thinking next time lounge menu at the bar, but it mostly the same ... uninspired. Maybe we will wait until the winter season and a change of menu items.
We find BWG is a great place to get away from the crowd in downtown Incline Village. Altho the prices is on the high side, you get nothing but the best. There are always dishes on the menu that are out of the ordinary fare. As we are residents, our favorite time to go is during the winter before sunset. We hear they serve great appitizers in the bar, and will try them soon.
We had a delicious dinner at the Big Water Grille. Two of us had the halibut which was great, perfectly cooked. One had the ahi and thought it might have been the best he'd ever had plus great presentation and one enjoyed the pasta with a chicken breast added. We thought the house salad was a terrific presentation and tasted wonderful.
