Big Rock Chop House
Red Wine Braised, House Mashed, Haricot Vert, Heirloom Carrots
It was my 24th Anniversary and Aaron made our 1st time experts memorable one. Only one small thing I wish the restaurant would have offer a anniversary dessert. Something to consider..
Food was luke warm. Vegetables were supposed to be sautéed in garlic butter but were bland. Tongs for vegetables handled by bare hands were laid on top of vegetables on plate... not sanitary and worse does not follow Covid 19 protocol. I realize prices have gone up due to shortages and Covid-19 closure but food value for price was disproportionate. Compared to prices from when I was there earlier in the year before COVID-19 prices were way higher for little food . The lamb was not hot or cooked properly but neither one of us wanted to send it back. Our best experience was in the cigar lounge where it was lively, and the drinks were well crafted and worth the price. The bar tender was attentive and we enjoyed that experience the most.
A nice, upscale, dining experience with a great team.
If you can get a server, get Aaron. He's great! Always has good suggestions on what to pick. He knows the menu very well. They're menu during covid is still as good as their full menu. Cant wait to go back.
Great food and customer service
Great service, food and ambiance!
Onion soup not anything spacial but the Chop house salad steak and vegetables all were excellent
Took my boyfriend there for his birthday dinner. We were floored by how great everything was. The waitress was over the top awesome. Sent us home with a full cake that was to die do. The truffle fries were delicious. His steak was cooked perfectly. You could not go wrong going to this place!
Awesome food, Mitchell was a great server
Sat us in the breezeway which had nice airflow to the outside. Our server, Gabby, was attentive and very sweet. Took very good care of us!
Great food , best steak I have had
Our server was great. We loved that we found Bug Table Farm Wine. Our meal was very good.
Food was amazing! Each side dish was enough to feed about 2 people! Ambiance was also very nice.
Waiting on an outdoor table was a long process. Reservation time is not guaranteed. Food was delicious. Ambiance was nice
Steak was not quite good enough. Great wedge! Wine list had some great values, had a Parker 93 for $44!
One of our favorites
Great place for a date. Food was delicious and atmosphere was nice.
The salmon was outstanding. I would suggest it to anyone who likes salmon. I asked for it to be medium rare and it was cooked perfectly! Also, our server was outstanding
Sat outside on the patio, and watched the world go by, with great wine, and comfort food. Mitchell was our server, and was promptly at our table whenever we needed him for wine, extra drinks, etc. The short ribs were outstanding, as was the smoked salmon charcuterie board, and Caesar salad. Thanks again for a great night!
I used to love dining on the patio at this restaurant. In this instance, during the time of COVID-19, I was very uncomfortable. The place was full, I felt the tables were too close together and diners were not wearing masks while traveling through the restaurant. It also seems the prices have been increased dramatically. To top things off, neither my meal, nor my husband's was very good.
My only complaint is the parking which is not convenient and valet is $7
For the price, I’ve had much better food but the ambiance was great and so was the service.
This place is great every time I go. Highly recommend!!
Service was excellent. Waiter was great. The food however was definitely under par. I’ve been here many times in the past and there is usually nothing bad to say. We were a Group of 3, so we each ordered something different and shared. Had the lamb chops ( overcooked and dried. Had ordered it medium ), sea bass ( overcooked) and the ny strip ( under seasoned and undercooked, also ordered medium) . None of us complained to the waiter ( not one to do so) but just leaving a review so they step their game back up. Def would go back, maybe it was just an off night on the chefs part 🤷🏻♂️
Great food and service! Staff was very accommodating with covid seating.
Everything was excellent as were all of our visits.
Even though the menu is limited, the choices are very good. We had crab cakes and filet. And with the sides and salad we left very full. It was all delicious.
Great ambiance with indoor and outdoor patio seating
The outdoor seating is fantastic. Food is overall good. The only thing I didn't like was the calamari. I would go back just for the seating and atmosphere.
With opening post-Covid now, I think they do an excellent job of handling patrons. We had no worries about being seated, and all the servers and managers had masks. The food selections were still pretty diverse, even with kitchen limitations due to re-opening. If you like cake, you have to end the meal with the dessert option of "Eric's Birthday Cake." Also, for an upscale restaurant in the area, they have the best prices for wine service by the bottle. Kudos to the sommelier and manager for not wine-gouging people who know wine prices and don't want to pay 3x retail pricing, just to enjoy a bottle with dinner.
Thought I made reservations for happy hour on the terrace, when we arrived we were told happy hour is now in a tent at the reserve. No thank you. Won’t be back
I was there for my Birthday, Adam and the other server were very accommodating and amazing!! As a server whos passionate about customer service I was very impressed with them!! Glad we went when we did had it been this week it would have been canceled! Food amazing but thats a given!
It is one of my favorite restaurants in the Detroit area
Food was very good, albeit pretty pricey. We had 8 oz filet and scallops both at $40. Both dishes good, but came with no sides and I thought both were over priced. Our server, Dorothy, is a delight .
Don’t let Dave go. Amazing server, amazing guy. Thanks Big Rock
Ordered the chateaubriand special. The beef was cold and totally lacked any flavor. The waiter was pleasant but had a sinus issue which made it very uncomfortable for us to enjoy the evening with the current emphasis on avoiding people who may be sick. All in all, a very overpriced, unsatisfactory and disappointing evening. Definitely not one we'd like to repeat in the future.
I took my wife to BR to both celebrate her job promotion and some one on one time. This was my super bowl in regards to taking my wife somewhere grand and having a extravagant experience. When we pulled up to BR, my wife said, OH WOW, I didn't say anything, but I was screaming inside with with excitement. I knew I did great. We walked inside and were greeted by the hostess, who was very nice. We were led to our table, and the atmosphere was electric. It was alive and we were both drinking it in. The waitress was great throughout our dining time. We ordered the burgers with truffle fries, and that was great also. I use great alot, but our time really was. We ended our evening with me enjoying cigar in their lounge, and my wife enjoying a drink. My wife didn't know where I was taking her. I have passed BR for years driving by, and it was worth every penny and second. We're definitely coming back to BR. Best night ever. Thanks BR!
Great service from Mitchell. The meal overall was great, but the tuna tartare appetizer was bland, lacked flavor.
