Formerly Norman's Eton Street Station, Big Rock Chophouse combines the rustic, casual feel of a mountain lodge with the high-energy of a contemporary club, an eclectic mix unlike any other Metro Detroit dining experience. Big Rock Chophouse is the proud recipient of the prestigious American Culinary Federation’s 2014 Achievement of Excellence Award, an honor that was previously awarded to only three other Michigan restaurants before that year. The restaurant's mouthwatering menu bursts with flavorful recipes centered around enormous, hand-cut aged steaks, delicious lamb chops, and the freshest seafood.

This was a stellar experience. The food was sensational, the service was over the top and the whole experience was memorable. The chef outdid herself. We loved the grain salad and the tuna and salmon entrees were awesome. Our server, Kevin, brought us an amazing bottle of wine that was affordable. The Manager, Vera, stopped by our table to make sure everything was good and it was so much better than that. Although it was too cold to sit outside, we love the patio, which is one of the most beautiful in town. We have enjoyed Big Rock for so many years and are so happy for their continued success.

Although our server was pleasant, the overall service experience was one for the ages. It started out with the pouring of our martinis from a height that resulted in splashing. The special of the day 'halibut' was mis-quoted. After we ordered she returned to say yes they had halibut but the prep was entirely different. Then another server brought over a soup that was not ordered. My husbands order was not recorded - causing them to return to ask again. Food was just ok.

No return visit for us.

Todd was an excellent waiter. He made my birthday special. The stark was epic and the ambiance romantic and quiet. The outdoor option, although we dined inside is fabulous. I dined outdoors on a previous visit. GREAT DINING EXPERIENCE!

Great as always... we requested and enjoyed having Dave as our waiter since he's always the best, and adds so much to an already great time.
At the top of our "must go" places when in the area for perfectly grilled steaks , great drink menu, and top notch service.

Great service as always. Our waiter for third time was Kevin. He does an excellent job explaining the dishes and is enjoyable to talk to.

Absolutely the best tasting steak I ever had. Also speaking for my wife.... Simply delicious. Marvelous wine list and service, down to the valet parking.

Big Rock is consistently outstanding. It is about 30 minutes from our hometown, but is worth the drive. Our favorites are the chop salad and any of the steaks with zip sauce. Also love the pineapple martinis and fine wines.

We always love Big Rock. We love eating outside and on the porch. Others may like the Bar or main room better. Love that there are options! Always great service and great food.

Salad was extremely oily. Cocktails were a joke, very small in funny metal cups and taste was not worth $14 at all.

Felt stuck in Siberia-taken to chilly large mostly empty room and seated next to large family with many small children coming and going. Food OK, but pricey. Won't be back.

Overall excellent - wait staff was personable and very attentive and she was a listener! Manager was most gracious and food preparation and taste was great. Drinks came as ordered. All was very enjoyable. The ambiance is wonderful in this re-do of the original train station.

My husband eats meat; I do not. We typically go out for Asian (Japanese, Thai, etc). He wanted to go to a steak house for his birthday, so we looked at some of the options and picked Big Rock because it seemed fancy but not too ridiculous. He liked his meal well enough. My salad was very boring. I often enjoy steak houses sometimes because the sides are so good, but this is not one of those places. No sides included at all and the extra ones you can order are not interesting. Overall good not great. Thank goodness we didn't bring the kids because it is not a kid-friendly place.

I've got to be honest and say that I've had better food elsewhere. I had the lobster. It was small, 6 oz, I believe and that's the only thing that was on the plate. No garnish, no vegetable, no starch. Really? How much does it cost to put something else on the plate?! The steaks are good but very expensive. They did come with a vegetable at least. It's a good atmosphere, but for an expensive steak, I'd go someplace else.

We had the Rabbit Risotto and calamari to start - both excellent. You can easily split these portions and we ended up with a large take home bag by the end of the night. Our server Matt was excellent and very personable. We both selected the ribeye which was 22 Oz and huge. Excellent steak - buttery, cooked perfectly. Our sides were asparagus - very good, mushrooms - always a great addition with steak. I have to say the bake potato was nothing special and that was disappointing. I have had better baked taters at far less pricey locales. So, I recommend a different side. Not that it was bad - just nothing special and you should opt for a different side. Finished up with a cheesecake and sorbet. Both really good and highly recommended. Overall, excellent and highly recommended. We were in the back room which is less noisy than the bar area - not as much character in this area but a quieter experience. Highly recommend for a wonderful dinner.

It's hard to believe that a restaurant this close to home can be so good. I love eating in the old train station.
