Big Rock Chop House
Messed up my filet twice. Left without eating steak but still paid $150 bill. Highly disappointed in the experience.
Always a great experience at Big Rock!
Food was unimpressive. This is the 2nd with the same experience. For the price it should be better.
Service was amazing as usual
First time dining at this restaurant on vacation. Great Food and Great Service. Also like the option to order 9 oz glass of wine for a few more dollars than the 6 ounce pour.
It was ok. Not great, not terrible. We probably wouldn’t go again.
I love the decor at Big Rock Chop House. The booths make for a comfortable meal and this is a nice place for celebrations. Due to the location in Birmingham, parking isn't great. Either hustle for space on a side street and hoof it or pay 7.00 for valet parking. The food portions are generous. The food we had was tasty. They do have a Hudson's Maurice Salad on the menu. The old top 40 hits music doesn't really add to the ambiance but I get it. Big Rock would like to double as a bar with eats as well as a fine dining steak house. It kind of works and it kind of doesn't. We enjoyed our meal. I'd recommend the restaurant to others. And yet ... But it's still certainly worth a try and it may be just what you are looking for.
On a lovely summer's evening we were able to dine al fresco . We had attentive service and a lovely anniversary celebration
It took 20 minutes for a server to stop by after and not until we flagged one down, another 20 minutes for ice tea and another 15 minutes to place the food order. A one hour lunch took two hours during the business day because the service was so poor.
Excellent food with exceptional service!
Food was fantastic as well as the service. Great ambiance and not too noisy. Also had a great wine selection
Very good food and we had excellent service! Celebrating our 20 year anniversary was a success!
If someone asked me where the best place for a steak in the metro Detroit area was, I would have a hard time naming any place over Big Rock. Absolutely the best truffle fries around too.
The food was fantastic. It is expensive but worth it. I had the Dover Sole. It was cooked and served perfectly. My wife had a filet that was perfect. The service was outstanding and the atmosphere comfortable. We will return.
Very good service “Kevin” was on point! Spare Ribs were outstanding!
Really nice dining experience, casual atmosphere , courteous staff, awesome wine list, and our steaks were grilled to perfection. As mentioned by others , their house Zip Sauce is amazing.
Only thing to keep in mind is that this is a true Chop House meaning the menu offerings are a bit limited if you want something other than Meat. Carnivores will enjoy. ;-)
This is by far my favorite chop house of all time. Dorothy is absolutely amazing at making sure you and your Guests have the total experience. The Tomahawk steak was absolutely melt in your mouth Delicious. And that zip sauce!!!!🤤
We enjoyed the room we were seated in. Makes a big difference as to the enjoyment of the ambiance. Prices are quite high.
Dave was our server, he was great. Food was amazing.
Dorothy is a true delight. Really enjoyed it. Wine list is a bit one dimensional..a little pedestrian. If in the area we’ll be back.
Excellent food and amazing service. Our server, Kevin, was so personable and pleasant. We were celebrating a special occasion and many employees stopped by to congratulate my son. A truly wonderful experience.
Our experience with my wife and me was amazing. Coming from a family of restaurant owners, great service is hard to come by. Our waiter, Dave from Brooklyn, was awesome all around. Everything he recommended was top notch and even comped our dessert for a celebration that he congratulated us on. As a fellow New Yorker, we will be back for sure!
The place could be amazing but I felt it was just average on our first visit.
My guess is that they have very good cooks but not a culinary school chef except for maybe the pastry chef who is quite good
Brussel sprout side is a nice idea with the walnuts but lacked flavor. Some roasted garlic and onions and perhaps some reduced chicken broth and a touch of cayenne would have made it amazing
Filet was a nice cut and cooked to the right temp but the outside was so strong of fire that we couldn’t taste the steak. It seemed as if it has caught fire. So it had a burnt ash taste rather than the fire grill taste.
Nice people and nice atmosphere but could use a bit more attention to detail on food prep
Excellent food and service. They were attentive without hovering.
Food was great but service was so-so
Good food, good drinks nothing special
Food was excellent and so was the service. It was an early Mother’s Day dinner for us to avoid the crowds and it was exceptional. We ordered the lamb chops and it was very tender and tasty. We also tried one of their specials for the day, pasta carbonara (if I’m not mistaken). The taste was superb! My only issue was the space. It was crowded and cramped in the booth where we were seated. We should have asked for another table but we were hungry. Also a little loud. Overall, still a good place to try.
Great place for our anniversary. Excellent service and food.
Very enjoyable experience. The menu had a nice variety of dishes and you could order smaller entrees, which was really nice. Our waitress was great and everyone enjoyed their dishes. Slight problem with getting our side dishes in a timely manner, but the waitress made up for it with free dessert, which was very nice. Overall a great experience and we would definitely go back again.
Nice charming layout food good but have had better.
Aaron was great!! Food was great!! Will be back
We are regulars. We made a reservation on open table. Including a credit card. We were called to confirm how many adults and kids. We reserved a table with a high chair. When we were called we confirmed a table with a high chair. When we were sat.......a booth no high chair. Soooo. We were moved to the table in the side room next to the bus section. Then my husband ordered a medium well burger which came rare. And sent it back and came back with melted chees e but medium. Ultimately the burger was taken care of but overall it was a terrible experience. Only by a miracle were our young children desirable.
We enjoyed our recent dinner at Big Rock chop house. I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because the waiter was slow to come to our table after we were seated. I was just starting to get annoyed and then he appeared. Everything after that was great!
We had a great experience at Big Rock. Started with the lobster Mac and cheese. It was delicious. My wife had the NY strip which she loved. I had the Lamb Chops. It was two double chops. The lamb was cooked to perfection it it wasn’t the best piece of meat I expected. The first chop had a lot of fat and was kinda on the small side. The second was much better, not as much fat and a good size. Over all we had a good experience, the ambiance was great and the service from Aaron was impeccable.
Our server was there with suggestions, knowledge of each dish, and a vivacious personality. The food was beyond amazing. The Bernie’s sauce alone was worth the price of admission. The atmosphere was a mix of business dress and business casual. The wagyu was awesome, the Oysters Rockefeller incredible, and the mashed potatoes mixed with Bernie’s was fantastic. Unforgettable evening.
Fantastic food and 5 star service. One of the best fillet mignon I've had.
Fabulous place, better than the multiple area restaurants
Very nice, great food, and very good beer selection for a high end place.
Excellent service and ambiance, prices are very fair and staff friendly. Almost perfect!
Great food, great drinks overall amazing experience
Great dinner and service with friends and Kit!
