Big Rock Chop House
As a vegetarian, you may be surprised that I am giving a chop house such a high review, but this really was a lovely meal. We were celebrating an anniversary, which was nicely acknowledged. The food was delightful; as several others mentioned, the bread and butter was especially delicious. I had a nice salad (for a pre-dinner salad, it was very large!) and a ravioli dish that was quite nice and not at all heavy. The wine list was extensive and even included a few Michigan selections, something I particularly enjoy. For dessert, we enjoyed the "birthday cake," which was very light and tasty! Our server, Dave, was out of this world! He was personable, offered recommendations, and was attentive without being overbearing. I would go back again just to be served by him! Thank you, Dave, for a wonderful evening!
I had reservations for my husbands birthday dinner. We arrived almost an hour early because Hamilton let out earlier than we thought. They still sat us right away. The food was absolutely amazing and the service was great. They even brought out a birthday cake with a candle for my husband which was a very nice surprise and was delicious as well. We will definitely be coming back. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an amazing meal. :)
We went to big rock gor our 10th anniversary celebration, after our server struggled to convey the specials, i decided on the filet, (mr)baked potato, my wife and mother chose the petit filet, my filet was charred to a crisp on the outside, it was med /rare but cold, the baked potato looked and tasted as if it was left over from the day before, none of our entrees lived up to the price charged, seriously if your going to ask those prices, make sure your waitstaff know about what they are selling, and your chefs/cooks take ride in what they're putting on the plate, sorry we wont be back, disappointed, but our annivarsary didnt suffer, in love with each other, not with Big Rock
I had some of the best onion soup that I have ever had. The chop salad was great also. My friend had the frittata and said it was great.
Great place - good service - lovely ambience. Highly recommend the bone-in ribeye and mushrooms - fantastic.
We had a great time, we brought a friend for a surprise birthday dinner and enjoyed all the food! Thanks :)
Classic place that never disappoints. Great for large groups and yet good for date night, too
Our server, Mitchell (I think), was fantastic. The food was great.
Amazing service! R eww quest Kevin, he was perfect and took amazing care of us! Food was absolutely delicious!
Had an exceptional dinner, The service was outstanding, My only issue was that for a chop house their selection of bourbons left much to be desired, They did not have any of the top shelf brands. With a cigar lounge I thought that the selection of wiskey, scotch and bourbon would be top notch. To end on a positive note, the food and the service were excellent.I would definately recommend them for that important dinner.
Loved it!!!! Will be coming back soon. The waiter, the valet parking was amazing and professional. The cigar bar was very relaxing and beautiful. Can’t wait to come back in the summer.
Great service, Phillip was a great server. Appreciated him and all he did to make our evening great.
Never disappointed by, and always look forward to, dinner at Big Rock! Amazingly prepared food!
My S.O. and I couldn't be together for Valentine's Day, so we celebrated on February 15th, and everything was perfect. We had the best table in the house: our waiter was attentive, the meal was superb, and we had a great evening! I love their boutique mixed drinks! Great spot for a romantic dinner, even though I had been there previously for a business meeting. Check it out!
We enjoyed a lovely early dinner recently. Our meals were perfectly prepared; it has been a while since I have enjoyed a steak cooked as I ordered, perfectly. The Big Rock's Chophouse sauce is flavorful and delicious - the best! We enjoyed fresh parmesan asparagus and sweet potato frites with a great dipping sauce. Sweet potato fries have become almost passé, but these were excellent, worth ordering. Our server, Beverly, was gracious and efficient. Love the warm atmosphere at The Big Rock and the way the tables are situated allow for privacy for conversation while still being able to enjoy the activity in the restaurant. The Big Rock manages to be both a lively place and elegant at the same time. Well done.
Beverly, our server, was great. However, I thought the food was mediocre. My salad didn’t appear to have very much dressing, my husband‘s duck was a little too rare.
Ordered my Filet Medium Rare and it was a solid Medium
Aaron our server was awesome and we had a great night out
Great date place. Dinner then the cigar lounge - can’t beat that!
We live an hour away but feel it was worth the drive.
Food was excellent! Service was excellent!
We loved everything except for paying $12 for kids mac and cheese and butter noodles. They don't have kids menu so when you get your bill don't be surprised if your 2 kids meals would cost you $24.
Relaxing atmosphere, pleasant staff and tasty food. Prices are a couple dollars per item more than I’d expect fr the style of restaurant, but we like to stop in when we want to be sure of a friendly experience and solid food and drinks.
It was my guests birthday, which I mentioned in the reservation. It was not mentioned by anyone. No big deal, but it’s always a nice touch for it to be mentioned.
Had an pretty stellar date night at Big Rock Chop house, I couldn't ask for a better Monday night.
my wife steak was very good my strip steak was cold and tough -they did offer to replace it with the one my wife had --while waiting i ate some of her,s when the replacement came my wife was finished so i just took it home--they gave my wife a very nice dessert it was her birthday. we looked at the bar menu and will go back and try that
We really enjoyed our meal at the Big Rock Chop. The calamari is the best anywhere and my steak was done perfectly. Make sure and ask for their famous zip sauce. The coconut cream pie is huge and amazing. I highly recommend eating here. We will be back for Valentine's Day!
The food was great and our server was excellent. I highly recommend!
We had a Great dinner at The Big Rock for restaurant week .. I had the 6oz filet and my Husband had the 12ny strip ,both were well prepared . Our service was outstanding . we order a bottle of wine which was very nice . We will be coming back again .
The food is always amazing here and never disappoints!
It was Birmingham Restaurant week and a Friday night so it was very busy and a bit noisy. However, the food was really amazing! 3 of us has the Sea Bass and it was superb. One has the steak and it was also great. Very impressed and we will definitely be back!
Bad experience with hostess but assistant manager,Fabrice Valiot, and waitress, Jamie, made for a great experience after making complaint.
Came for the first time during Birmingham Restaurant Week. Our server was amazing, and the Restaurant Week menu was a great value. We will for sure be coming back!
Food was ok, but not as good as I had before. Drinks were higher than other restaurants...$17 plus
While the calamari appetizer was very good
the rest of the meal was ok at best.
Food definitely did not match their prices.
Can’t say I would recommend.
they have a great lunch menu! My family likes to go there when we have a special lunch
Great service and food. Love the atmosphere and the surroundings! Even the valet is personable
A little too pricey. Everything is ala cart
Waitress was great
Everything was just great! The food is so delicious! Our waiter, Aaron was fantastic in describing to us every dish we ordered and told us the history of the place. It was a wonderful night for us!
Love the small plates options
