It was a wonderful experience. Staff was willing to work with the party and offered excellent service. The food was amazing and offered many different options for the various eating orientations present. Will definitely dine again!
Opened at noon and we were the only couple there. The service was immediate as well as the food. The lightly battered fried oysters were fresh and hot. The drinks were great. Overall the menu covered the spectrum of food but we settled for the steak, shrimp and chicken fajita. Wonderful. One note: If it gets crowded it will be because there are too many tables in a small space.
Had a large party, the space was kind of tight. But the staff is very friendly and welcoming. A lot of menu options. Food was nice and hot when it arrived only downfall none of the food came out at the same time.
The young lady who served our table was less than friendly and left the impression we were an in convenience to her. The food was overpriced for the quality and portions.
Wasn't many people on the place on a Tuesday but food and beverages were fine. Nothing to rush back to.
Did not disappointed our large party! Was able to do separate checks and all! Good food, drinks, service and ambiance - Thank you!!
We enjoyed our dinner at Big Kahuna. It's a great stop in after work place for a quick bite and beverages.
The food was amazing!!
We dined with a large party (~25) and the staff stayed open late for us to enjoy our meals. The staff were pleasant, responsive, and friendly. Stockton (behind the bar) makes exceptional, made-to-order drinks! The food was delicious, the location was easy, and the vibe was great. Will return again.
Thank you for accommodating our group! We had such a good time. Thanks for great food and service
Had a large party (18 people). The restaurant was empty, except for us, and we were all cramped together. The food was so so - basic bar food. Everything is fried. My clothes smelled like a deep fryer for hours after. I would not go back.
Service was awful. We only had the opportunity to order drinks, but left before we received them. We were only the second group of people in the place. Won’t be going back.
We loved Big Kahuna's so much we went there three times, in the week we were there for work. Casual and fun environment. However, it was deliciousness of the food that really brought us back. Queso was almost drank from the bowl. The grilled chicken for the Cali Mex sandwich was cooked to perfection. Tacos were superb. They were super busy the Wednesday night we were there, and we could tell the staff was a little stressed, but we still felt they did a great job and the best they could. Will visit again in ever back in Atlanta. I never write reviews but had to, since I'm already missing the place.
40th bday for my wife.
We had a reservation for 12:15. Upon arriving at the restaurant around 12:10, I gave the host my name and reservation time. We were told there were no tables and that we could sit at the bar. As this was a formal lunch with a job candidate, sitting at the bar would have been inappropriate and not practical. As a result, we left and went to another restaurant. What’s the purpose of having reservations if you’re not going to honor them?
Our waiter (Troy?) was not only waiting on us, he was the host and the bartender. We had a group of 13 and he was able to keep up with all of our requests - outstanding job on his part.
Good food but super slow considering we were the only guests.
Service was terrible and dishes were somewhat dirty.
We had a group of 22 and they were very accommodating. Entire group was very pleased with their food!
Good selection of menu items and drinks. I have one criticism: my wife ordered a Pacifico beer (a listed menu item), and the server replied, "We don't have any." This was less than friendly response.
Made a reservation and when we got there (after walking several blocks), the restaurant was dark and the doors were locked. The restaurant was closed!
Fish tacos are the best! Excellent food and service. Always a favorite when I am in Atlanta.
We stumbled on this place a couple of years ago. The food has always been good, but the service was poor. And honestly, it wasn’t because of bad servers, it just appeared they were understaffed. It took maybe 15 minutes to get a frozen drink from the bar (you just had to pull a lever)....but honestly we watched our server, and he didn’t stop once. I felt sorry for them.
Great food and service!
Hello. We met a friend for lunch and then menu looked awesome. The place was really full and there weren’t enough servers for the restaurant crowd so service could definitely have been better and was slow. We were one of the first people there for lunch and our food for three guests didn’t come out at the same time. Also it was really loud and the food was fair. A little disappointed, because everything looks so good on the menu.
Big group, terrible service. Had a 7pm reservation, couldn’t get seated till 7:45. 8:30 still no food or water. Couldn’t handle a big group.
Good Cali-Mex food. I had trio fajitas - chicken, beef and shrimp. Spicy, but good spicy. Compares favorably to fajitas I've had at much more expensive restaurants. My wife had the bbq chicken quesadillas. She enjoyed them thoroughly. The guacamole was good, even if I had to pay $1 for a very small cup's worth. Chips and salsa cost a nominal charge, whereas at many Mex, Cali-Mex or Tex-Mex restaurants they are complimentary. The tortilla chips were okay. The salsa was very good. We would eat at Big Kahuna again if in the area.
The food was just fine. That's about all I can really rate it. The place was a very casual, hard top table atmosphere. I thought it was a little overprice for the quality. Not bad, but certainly not what I'd consider a good dinner spot on a date night. The Pacific Bar ambiance they advertise is pretty lacking, and the place feels more like a fast casual spot, but with higher prices.
For example, I got a steak burrito which came wrapped in aluminum foils (like a Chipotle or Moe's), but it was priced quite a bit higher than those places. I did enjoy having Longboard Beer on draft. Overall, it was just fine. Not good, not bad, just okay.
Great food, BIG portions....will definitely come here again.
Food was ok, but not great. Short handed on help for the group meant service was compromised. I like the menu and its variety. The draft selection was limited, but decent pics on it.
Although we had a confirmed reservation, Big Kahuna refused to seat us because they said they don’t accept Open Table reservations made on the same day. They did not apologize, and objected when we stood in the entry trying to figure out where we should go. Don’t go there, or at least don’t count on a confirmed reservation there.
The food was great, easy to get a table. The music was just a bit loud and kind of inappropriate for a restaurant (a lot of hip hop). Overall, I would still go back!! 👍🏼
Great variety of food and reasonably priced. Service was awesome.
Convenient to hotel. Good variety of food. The food we purchased was very good with very generous portions.
We were in town for a busy market when we know that most restaurants downtown require a reservation. We had an 8:45 reservation and got there about 10 minutes late due to poor directions. When we arrived, the place was empty and we were told that the kitchen was closed! It was a Friday!!!
The only good news is that the manager referred us to Gibneys in the neighborhood where we had amazing burgers and wonderful service!
We booked Big Kahuna for dinner before the Chick-Fil-A Bowl on New Year's Eve. We had a group of 10 that included kids 9-14 years of age. Even though there was no kids menu, the selection of tacos, burgers and appetizers gave the kids plenty to choose from (and they even accommodated a picky eater by making a cheese quesadilla!) . The tacos blended traditional taco fillings with unexpected creating a refreshing taste. Great beer selection, too. The service was excellent! We had planned to walk from the restaurant to the Georgia Dome (about 20 minutes by foot in 40 degree temps) but to our surprise the restaurant was offering a free shuttle to the stadium! BONUS!! We will definitely visit again.
My experience at Big Kahuna was great! The food was great and the service was great! I will be visiting again when I'm in Atlanta.
We were in Atlanta for a seminar and stayed through the weekend. It happened to be the same weekend as the SEC Championship game. We found this unique restaurant nearby. It was supposed to be closed all day for a private party but the manager graciously left it open. There was nobody sitting inside as the weather was gorgeous outside. It took a while to get our menus and drinks but we were not in any hurry. The staff was very friendly. The food was delicious and the manager made us his unique drink. We just had a fabulous time and will visit again.
Overall we had a nice lunch at Big Kahuna. Good menu and the wait staff essentially kept our beverages full until... One note...if you decide you want the "grilled" cod fish tacos, they apparently don't exist...despite what the menu says. That is what I ordered but was brought fried fish tacos. When I inquired about it, our waitress said they don't have that and that all their fish was lightly battered...huh? Anyway, I said I did not want fried food and asked for her to change it our for the grilled chicken. After sent the fried fish back, we all felt our service started to wane...
In the end the food was good but service very average...won't go back as it is out of the way and I don't consider it to have been an exceptional experience.
Its a cool place to go watch sports....food is just your average bar food...not a big deal...prices are ok for the food u get..staff was eating at the table next to ours while on break..
Had a wonderful experience at Big Kahuna. Great menu with delicious food and very reasonably priced drinks. Kudos to the wait staff. Very attentive and friendly and even made an item for us that wasn't on the lunch menu. My only complaint would be the "please seat yourself" - had to wait a bit both times we were there for a waitress to notice we had sat down. Would be better if they showed you to a table.
