Arrived right before opening for a 12PM reservation. Staff inside who could see us. Finally, at 12:02PM, the waitress cracked the door and said, "We aren't going to open for another 45 minutes or so. I guess it was really busy last night, and they didn't prep for today." I said, "We have a noon reservation." To this, she replied, "Yea, I don't know what to tell you about that." From there, she stared at us until we threw our hands up and walked away. I have never had a more unprofessional encounter in my life! I would never recommend this establishment to anyone.
This is a casual Mexican restaurant with an odd Hawaiian theme. The food is good, but it's not unusual. The chef was willing to adapt our orders to our diet at no extra charge. There is a wide range of standard Mexican dishes. Service was very good - friendly and attentive without being overly attentive. We were able to order and eat within an hour which was important for our schedule. This is a restaurant I would go to if it were convenient, and I would enjoy it, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.
Choose this place because the burgers were told to be great ! It was but very loud with customers and the tv volume was very loud.
Great food and service. Would definitely recommend for a fun night out and we also had small children and they loved it as well. Margaritas were fantastic.
Our group was very satisfied with the service we received. We had a group of 16 and everyone enjoyed their food selections. There were no long waits for seating or service. They also validate parking!
I had a reservation for 6 weeks for a birthday celebration with a group of 16 people. On the day of the big event when everyone arrived they were closed due to the holiday. Nobody from Big Kahuna staff bothered to call and let me know. Their website even showed that they were open. If you have a reservation double check before arriving!
They have C rating with a 70 score. Didnt eat there due to this
The food was good. The service was good.
We went in for an early dinner and there was only one other table seated so it was very quick.
Visited for lunch based on hotel concierge recommendation. Very casual atmosphere with very good food. Staffing was light but waitress did a great job handling all the tables. She was very personable and attentive to our needs/. If you are look for good tacos or salads, would suggest stopping by.
I was blown away by not only the service but the quality of the food. We had a big group an only one waitress who handled everything professionally and smooth. The food is unbelievable delicious and reasonable. Everyone said that they were going back. I
Service was excellent, food was very good - I had the mushroom burger, which was very good. I thought the price for burger, fries and soda was a little on the high side, but it's downtown Atlanta, so probably reasonable, considering the area. Nice casual place. Diverse menu. I'll go again...
Fajitas while tasty were not tender
It was a wonderful experience. Staff was willing to work with the party and offered excellent service. The food was amazing and offered many different options for the various eating orientations present. Will definitely dine again!
Opened at noon and we were the only couple there. The service was immediate as well as the food. The lightly battered fried oysters were fresh and hot. The drinks were great. Overall the menu covered the spectrum of food but we settled for the steak, shrimp and chicken fajita. Wonderful. One note: If it gets crowded it will be because there are too many tables in a small space.
Had a large party, the space was kind of tight. But the staff is very friendly and welcoming. A lot of menu options. Food was nice and hot when it arrived only downfall none of the food came out at the same time.
The young lady who served our table was less than friendly and left the impression we were an in convenience to her. The food was overpriced for the quality and portions.
Wasn't many people on the place on a Tuesday but food and beverages were fine. Nothing to rush back to.
Did not disappointed our large party! Was able to do separate checks and all! Good food, drinks, service and ambiance - Thank you!!
We enjoyed our dinner at Big Kahuna. It's a great stop in after work place for a quick bite and beverages.
The food was amazing!!
We dined with a large party (~25) and the staff stayed open late for us to enjoy our meals. The staff were pleasant, responsive, and friendly. Stockton (behind the bar) makes exceptional, made-to-order drinks! The food was delicious, the location was easy, and the vibe was great. Will return again.
Thank you for accommodating our group! We had such a good time. Thanks for great food and service
Had a large party (18 people). The restaurant was empty, except for us, and we were all cramped together. The food was so so - basic bar food. Everything is fried. My clothes smelled like a deep fryer for hours after. I would not go back.
Service was awful. We only had the opportunity to order drinks, but left before we received them. We were only the second group of people in the place. Won’t be going back.
We loved Big Kahuna's so much we went there three times, in the week we were there for work. Casual and fun environment. However, it was deliciousness of the food that really brought us back. Queso was almost drank from the bowl. The grilled chicken for the Cali Mex sandwich was cooked to perfection. Tacos were superb. They were super busy the Wednesday night we were there, and we could tell the staff was a little stressed, but we still felt they did a great job and the best they could. Will visit again in ever back in Atlanta. I never write reviews but had to, since I'm already missing the place.
40th bday for my wife.
We had a reservation for 12:15. Upon arriving at the restaurant around 12:10, I gave the host my name and reservation time. We were told there were no tables and that we could sit at the bar. As this was a formal lunch with a job candidate, sitting at the bar would have been inappropriate and not practical. As a result, we left and went to another restaurant. What’s the purpose of having reservations if you’re not going to honor them?
Our waiter (Troy?) was not only waiting on us, he was the host and the bartender. We had a group of 13 and he was able to keep up with all of our requests - outstanding job on his part.
Good food but super slow considering we were the only guests.
Service was terrible and dishes were somewhat dirty.
We had a group of 22 and they were very accommodating. Entire group was very pleased with their food!
Good selection of menu items and drinks. I have one criticism: my wife ordered a Pacifico beer (a listed menu item), and the server replied, "We don't have any." This was less than friendly response.
Made a reservation and when we got there (after walking several blocks), the restaurant was dark and the doors were locked. The restaurant was closed!
Fish tacos are the best! Excellent food and service. Always a favorite when I am in Atlanta.
We stumbled on this place a couple of years ago. The food has always been good, but the service was poor. And honestly, it wasn’t because of bad servers, it just appeared they were understaffed. It took maybe 15 minutes to get a frozen drink from the bar (you just had to pull a lever)....but honestly we watched our server, and he didn’t stop once. I felt sorry for them.
Great food and service!
Hello. We met a friend for lunch and then menu looked awesome. The place was really full and there weren’t enough servers for the restaurant crowd so service could definitely have been better and was slow. We were one of the first people there for lunch and our food for three guests didn’t come out at the same time. Also it was really loud and the food was fair. A little disappointed, because everything looks so good on the menu.
Big group, terrible service. Had a 7pm reservation, couldn’t get seated till 7:45. 8:30 still no food or water. Couldn’t handle a big group.
Good Cali-Mex food. I had trio fajitas - chicken, beef and shrimp. Spicy, but good spicy. Compares favorably to fajitas I've had at much more expensive restaurants. My wife had the bbq chicken quesadillas. She enjoyed them thoroughly. The guacamole was good, even if I had to pay $1 for a very small cup's worth. Chips and salsa cost a nominal charge, whereas at many Mex, Cali-Mex or Tex-Mex restaurants they are complimentary. The tortilla chips were okay. The salsa was very good. We would eat at Big Kahuna again if in the area.
