Big Fin Seafood Kitchen Ratings and Reviews
The food was good overall, but not outstanding. It is a large, very noisy restaurant that is good for groups but not really a date place. They have specials on Friday and Saturday night that are definitely a good value. I had the surf and turf (4 oz filet and small lobster tail). It was $28 which I found to be a particularly good value. Both the steak and lobster were tender and well-prepared. My wife had the grilled grouper which was "meh". Not bad but unremarkable. The Bourbon Street Shrimp appetizer was tasty and well prepared. Overall, I'd probably eat there again if I lived in the area, but unlikely to return as an occasional visitor to Orlando.
Took about 10 minutes for waiter to ask for drink orders. Food was not good. I had surf/turf which was overcooked and husband had $50 grouper and bad oysters. Manager came over to ask how the service was, we mentioned the long wait for a server. He never asked about the food. He offered a free round of drinks for us but we got charged for them. Outside seating is not romantic, its right next to a rowdy after-work crowd. Overall very disappointing, will not go back. Our usual seafood go to place (BB) is always great service, great food and half the price.
I wish I had reviewed the reviews for this restaurant prior to coming in as we had a big group and we could barely hear each other- even just across the table. For what you’re paying for the food (which was absolutely delicious), it’d be nice to have the ambiance match the feel. The service was spectacular. Our waitress knew her stuff about seafood, drinks & what paired with what. We probably would go again on a date but not with a group if we want to be able to communicate with them.
Three of us dined here for first time. The grouper with crab was delish and so were the sides. Husband had whole red snapper. It was a little over cooked but fresh and tasty. Two of us shared key lime pie which was excellent.
Service was friendly and knowledgeable.
Big Fin has a vibrant feel, and is decidedly upmarket despite its generally casually-dressed customers. The service was good and the food was excellent. The oyster shooters for an aperitif were gorgeous. Only real downside was that, though I expected it to be expensive, it was still more than I anticipated.
We had a business dinner for six people. We are all experienced diners of seafood - I'm in the 1% of Open Table users. The restaurant was not full but we had to wait for our reserved table - increase bar revenue. We did not enjoy anything but the oysters which were excellent. Two of us had the snapper which was overcooked, gator was okay, two of us had the King Crab sushi which was so-so, the ahi tuna was okay. We would have sent back several of the dishes but it took so long for the kitchen to send the food, we decided not to extend our stay with redos.
The ambiance is bland and adolescent - "We have the crabs" is in tall letters on one wall.
We were six thumbs down. There are better places on Sand Lake Road to spend $600+.
Been to Big Fin many times when in Orlando, every other time we were here our experience was good but this visit left much to be desired. Asked for a quite table and got a booth on the main walkway, the waiter acted like he didn’t want to be there and didn’t care, the food was good but the coffee we ordered tasted like bitter dishwater. Overall quite disappointed. When I tried to tell the waiter the coffee was horrible he acted like he didn’t hear me and walked away.
Always great and fresh seafood. I highly recommend the gator and escargot stuffed mushroom apps, if you're into that. I was here for a convention and had personnel from our partners the NY Jets dine with us. Big Fin kindly welcomed them with a sign that had the Jets logo. This was a thoughtful touch that goes a long way. Cheers!
Took My clients there for a Dinner after the ISB show. They wanted to Go to Eddie V's but we could not get in. They were very glad we could not get in the place they wanted to go. We found a new place for us to have business meals while I am in town, and i will be taking my wife there when we are just looking for a great place to eat when visiting.
I traveled from Philadelphia to Orlando for my friends bachelorette weekend. I decided to pick this place based on the high rating from Open Table and Yelp. I was very surprised that they did not live up to the high star rating in my eyes. The restaurant is designed very beautifully and very clean however the service sucks. We had 3 waiters in a 30 minute time span. We had the entire kitchen come out and look at our table and didn’t say a word. Needless to say my experience was very disappointing and I would never come back.
