Big Fin Seafood Kitchen Ratings and Reviews
Casual elegance, phenomenal seafood and overall great service. Our server seemed to be a little overwhelmed the evening we were there, had a great table presence but I think he was new. He knew the menu well but a bit slow on accommodating additional requests such as providing a wine list, and bringing appropriate dessert utensils. However, overall, we were very pleased with Big Fin.
Was in the mood for salmon and ordered the Cedar Planked Salmon. The fish was superb, but in all honesty, the 'glaze' turned out to be a heavy coating of BBQ sauce. Easy to scrape off, but next time I would ask for the sauce on the side...somebody had a heavy hand and it did not enhance the fish. As for the bronzed potato cake, pack them up, I want a dozen to go!
I convinced my friend to order the swordfish filet mignon. Admittedly, the next best thing to enjoying this meal yourself, is to watch a friend take their first taste of this specialty of the house. It is deeee-licious! Nearly a pound of fish and you simply cannot stop eating it. Every morsel is heavenly.
Melody was terrific. Kept a watchful eye on us. Answered all our questions, even when my Cape Cod former-fisherman friend repeatedly asked if the fish was fresh and then tried to guess an ingredient in the secret sauce.
Have been here with family and friends, as well as a group of business associates ...it's my go-to place for phenomenal seafood.
We met with another couple before going to a concert. Since we had not seen each other in some time it was nice that the noise level was low. Each of us had different dinners. Each one of us commented that our meals were delicious. I would recommend this restaurant highly.
Everything is good except the server. For the restaurant I would expect a more professional server. Instead, he did refill our wine and I have to do that myself. Then we gave him the credit card but he stands to the next table chatting with the ladies for over 5 minutes before giving us the receipt to sign.
Ryan, our server, does an excellent job. The chef's surprise was delicious. The Caesar salad was huge, big enough for two people to share. I had the snapper pan fried and with the two sides it was almost too much food. My wife had the crab cakes and she loved them, practically all crab with very little filler. Drinks were a generous pour. This was,our third visit in less than two months so it has become a favorite.
Excellent evening family meal after a day at the Disney Parks.
The crab claw and champagne special starter was a great way to kick things off.
Quite pricey but overall well worth the taxi journey from the hotel that recommended the restaurant.
The food and the service were both excellent! Very attentive wait staff, and very flexible in dealing with a gluten allergy. For appetizers, we had the Chorizo stuffed dates, which everyone loved, and the calamari. The Shrimp and Scallops Blackened Orleans was amazing! We had a hard time choosing from the menu options, and look forward to coming back next time we are in Orlando.
Based on reviews, we thought we were going to enjoy a nice dining experience. The food was fair, the noise was off the charts and noone could hear each other (bad accoustics), but, worst of all...the service was dreadful. There was little to no attention paid to our table with no apologies and the place wasn't that busy. Took a long time to get our drinks at the start. We then finally received our appetizers. Then we waited over an hour for our main courses. When we asked our waitress about the status of our food, she ushered over someone named Will, who we assumed was a manager. Instead of trying to get our food to our table, he suggested that a one hour wait was not long and made the excuse that they make all their food from scratch. Rather than accommodating us in any way or apologizing for the extreme delay, he was antagonistic. Whatever happened to "customer is king" or friendly customer service. Almost an hour and a half in (from arrival), we finally received our dishes which were mediocre at best (especially for the prices) — very anti-climactic for the long wait. When we were about to leave, a gentleman who seemed like a roving host actually came over to see about how our experience was and we said terrible. He seemed gracious enough but we paid a boatload for a completely unsatisfactory experience. He offered us up complimentary desserts. The damage had already been done. We never post highly critical reviews...this experience was one we couldn't avoid warning others about.
My first Magical Dining experience here was terrific! Our server, Adam, was a hoot. Great personality, knowledge of the menu, and checked on us just enough. I had the steak with a lobster tail and my date chose the fish. Both were delicious! Perfectly seasoned and cooked. We'll definitely be back again soon.
We celebrated our anniversary there with Magical Dining. A few negative things that we experience there. 1st... ZERO SUBTITUTION if you change their vodka in their happy hour. Meaning, my wife wanted to change Titos because she is celiac "gluten free" (straight up answer from the bar... no substitutions) then we wanted to change Tequila. Also, she said "happy hour is happy hour drinks no changes"... let's be honest, titos and Jose Cuervo it's a cheap alternative... it's not gray goose or Don Julio.
Second, it was super loud place... loud that at times, I had to type for my wife to read.
The food was good. Service was okay. I feel like my server had tables ALL AROUND THE RESTAURANT. he came back and forth and he always was sweating. Hey, I am in the industry but HAVE SECTIONS so the servers have less travel and can offer better service.
This place is okay and will be just okay for another magical dining
My friends and I enjoyed our evening at Big Fin very much. Our waiter, Adam, was very attentive and made awesome recommendations to make our meal more enjoyable. Our courses were well spaced so that we did not feel rushed.
At our table, two friends enjoyed the lobster tails, which they described as succulent and ate every morsel. Another gave the filet mignon high marks and my Shrimp Orleans topped off with a Maryland crab cake was super delicious. We will definitely be going back.
Visited during Orlando Magical Dining Month. Borderline formal/informal atmosphere with lots of staff hustling about. Our waiter was friendly/informal but not so attentive. The shrimp orleans was mildly spicy and very tasty from the magical dining menu. No beer on tap which was a letdown. Varied regular menu with a many fish entrees. This was our third visit within the last 18 months, and we will return.
Great seafood & PERFECTLY cooked steaks. Awesome hand crafted cocktails that are to die for. Top notch sushi as well. Great service & owners that pay special attention to details including an extensive wine list. Highly recommended to everyone. Thank you Big Fin!
My first time at Big Fin. The restaurant is beautiful. Well laid out. Tables not on top of one another. Far enough away from each other to have a nice conversation and not hear others.
I opted for their house special of Swordfish Mignon which was so good and then some. I will return just to have this dish. Everything was perfect along with the side of asparagus. Actually I never had swordfish prepared this way - have had it similar but not exactly the same. This is about the best swordfish ever.
For desert we shared a chocolate oooy gooey and all I can say - it was a delicious fun desert.
Yes, I would highly recommend Big Fin and yes, I would return and yes, I plan to return in the very near future. It is worth the drive.
Wow where do I begin, the staff was great the food was amazing I attended this restaurant for my 2 year anniversary with my girlfriend and the manager there really made my night that much better with this overwhelming service and amazing hospitality the cap the night off the food was absolutely out of this world the best seafood I've ever tasted.
We waiting a bit and we had reservations and no one really apologized we waited over 30 minutes w/ reservations and was offered nothing. The restaurant can work on Timeliness but overall I really enjoyed my food.. and my military style/ serious server Brian was great thank you.
I was part of a party of 8 on October 7th. While the food was good, some items great while others were just so-so, we got sat over an hour after our reservation time. We waited at the bar area where we received slow and unfriendly service for drinks that were over priced. Prior to getting the table we were told by one of the managers he would try to take care of us by sending somethings to the table on the house, which never happened, and we waited almost 40 minutes between our appetizers and entrees. I have lived in the Dr. Phillips area for over 20 years and this was the worst dinning experience I have had on Restaurant Row.
It was busy, very noisy, but we had to keep asking server(s) for basics and it took awhile to get the items. Example- I ordered a filet, had to ask & wait awhile for a steak knife. Ordered caesar salad, asked for fresh ground pepper, server said yes, never came back with it. Had to ask twice for bread basket- it came with only one pat of butter in it. (there were 5 adults at my table) The food was good, but the terrible service (don't think our server smiled once all night) Not friendly at all- had heard so many good things about Big Fin, don't think we will return. :(
