Big Chow Grill
Place was awesome- staff was extremely helpful and pleasant. Food was awesome
My family and I LOVED The Big Chow Grill! The food was fresh and hot off the grill. The servers were helpful and friendly and the ambiance was nice. The only downside is that you HAVE to leave! 😊
I am sad to see the quality of food and service of this location go down. I was present when this restaurant first opened and it was an amazing experience. On such holiday weekend like Memorial Day, it might be a good idea to do inventory and stock up on basic supplies. Restuarant was out of a lot of things during my visit.
The price of the drinks advertised very not clear enough. The rum punch looked like it was $1.99 when it was actually $4.99.
The food quality seems to have suffered here a bit. This was a favorite of ours for several years. Tuesday’s trip left us a little disappointed. The servers and staff were all on point, quick, and friendly. But the meat didn’t seem to be as fresh as we remember. And there was a dead fly in our beer. Which does not bode well for the cleanliness or attention to what is going in the kitchen or behind the bar.
Great selection of food options for all meals types or requirements in my party - quick service
The lady at the door was super friendly and classy! The waitress for our table was awesome with Customer Service. Last but NOT least, the chef was friendly, patient, and accommodating!!!
We were very excited to find a Mongolian BBQ - style restaurant close to the Cobb Energy Center and were looking forward to a terrific meal. Unfortunately the food was only so-so, though there were many choices. The numerous sauces offered were bland and there were no instructions on how to season one's dish. Our server was nice and very helpful, but the noise level in the at least half-empty restaurant was unacceptable. We would not choose this place again.
Good experience. Have to know how spices will taste because you make up the dish yourself. Rosie was great, order multiple pieces
We came to Big Chow after being super fans of One Rooster. One Rooster had a similar style, except for their ingredients were a better quality and the sauces were more suited to the mongolian style. When One Rooster closed due to a lack of foot traffic we figured Big Chow might be a replacement for us.
Even though is was slightly similar, it didn't hold to the expectations set by One Rooster. The buffets were poorly lit and a mess. Our opinion was that if we happened to be near we might dine here, but we won't go out of our way to drive to the location again.
We had a reservation for 9 and even called in advance to make sure they were open but after we drove 20 minutes up to the restaurant they called and said they were closing early.
Used to go often but been a while. Not as your my as it used to be
Every time I come to Atlanta, I have to make a trip to Big Chow Grill (Chow Baby family). Endless possibilities with the Mongolian grill. Works for every taste buds. Best of all, all the sauces (except 2) are vegan. So vegan options hardly require a glance at the menu!
This restaurant could be so good and a great option for vegetarians/vegans but...
The service was terrible and the restaurant was filthy. Food was everywhere but the worst was the raw meat on the counters and on the floor.
Honestly worse service I have ever received. As we walked in their was a group of employees just sitting at a table talking and when asked if we seat ourselves they said we will be right with you and continued their conversation we had to ask buss boys to get out drinks and check because our server was non existent. Very disappointed.
The concept & food is good. The device is disjointed. There is a wide swing between completing your choices & serving of the meal. 2 of our party of 5 finished their first bowls before another 2 received theirs& the 5th was a full 10 min after that, after asking for it. Difficult to get extra napkins, soup spoons. At one point had to stand up & wave around my hands to get a server. And the dinner is $3 more for exactly the same menu/choices as lunch.
Gathering after funeral
The concept is good and the food quality was overall good-
But they really need to give you more help and guidance about seasoning and sauces-
It’s hard to know how much and what will work together-
So I wasn’t impressed with my choice.
Also be aware that they put a bunch of soybean oil in your food when they cook it!😣
The lady was very happy to cook mine without-
But that is very unhealthy if you are trying to stay away from that stuff!
We happened to be attending an event at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre and Big Chow was close so we thought we would try it. We arrived around 5:30pm, and there were very few people in the place considering it was Valentines Day! The place is very large and open. We didn't realize how casual it would be (very!) at all. Our waiter was very attentive and his only faux pas was that my husband ordered unsweet tea and he was given sweet but in the South, this happens all the time. The process is to go up to the line of raw foods and pick out what you want and put in a little bowl and then drop it off to be cooked. The selection of ingredients was decent and our food was back out to us in 10 minutes. It tasted great! The only issue I has was the food area was a mess and not clean so I was little put off by that. Other than that, for $14 a person, I can't complain really.
The bar tender had a section and the bar he didn't do well at all managing both. Thank God I have been here before and know the service is usually better. The food was good but took forever for no reason. I was a bit disappointed for a week day visit.
A family get-together - birthday party - 9 people. - an annual family outing. The service was so poor - terribly slow - the server was inattentive, to say the least. It took forever just to get drinks. We needed more napkins, and requested them, but eventually one of our group had to go to the counter near a big tub of silverware - an employee area- to get some. Lots of examples like that. We were done eating and asked for the birthday cake, which we had brought and given it to someone at the front to be refrigerated. Were told there were too many dishes on our table, it would be perhaps ten minutes to get them cleared to make room for the cake. Ten minutes? Asked for small plates and silverware - got the small plates - had to ask again for forks. Had nothing to cut or serve our cake with, went to the employee area where the silverware was and was told there was nothing they had that would help service.
Will definitely be back! There was a dumb alarm that was going off the entire time for one of the vents that was REALLY annoying and pretty loud, but we could still talk and hear each other. The food was great, brought out to the table fast! The variety was great. For some reason our waiter couldn’t figure out to split the check two ways when there were four of us (two couples). He was thoroughly confused when it came to which card went to which.
Tasty food based on your own seasoning that you’re able to add...loved the variety of rice and different noodles. Also loved the variety of protein like chicken, beef, fish, shrimp, and calamari. Based on the rice, etc bowl and the tiny bowl for meat, etc., the amount of food looks sparse but once stir fried, you end up with a really good sized white bowl. Very filling! My only peeve was that an employee kept trying to clean around the containers that held all of the ingredients that customers were trying to dip into. She was getting in the way and slowing down the line. Other than that, loved the food and we’ll be back since my son loves the concept of picking his own food😀👍🏾
It’s not the same as it was when it was called The Real Chow Baby. I miss the location that was on Howell Mill Rd. The selection was a little better, they offered salmon as well as the shrimp being a little bigger. Some of the sauces were missing also.
I am Disgusted. Went with my family for my birthday I did not receive my food At All..... Anna the manager on duty who Needs to be FIRED!! Does not communicate properly. I WAITED 2 F@#%$ HOURS for my food to arrive. I am still waiting for my food. I was literally disappointed, all she had to say was that the kitchen mixed up my food and for me to remake my bowl. She kept saying " your food would be out soon" . The disappointment was so real.
Good as always. We made reservations for 5:30 on a Thursday evening because we had tickets for a 7 p.m. show at the Cobb Energy Center. I usually go here for lunch and it is almost always packed. Did not need reservations for that early - at least during the week. Upside was that it was nice and quiet for conversation and no lines for the food. Can't think of a downside. The crowd had started picking up when we left. Note - put at least twice the amount of sauce on your food as you think you need.
We arrived right at 11am, best time so far, by 1130 you couldn't hear yourself think almost every table was filled great lunch spot!!! Service is great out waitress (Alissa I believe) was great didn't rush us and came around just often enough. The place was packed by the time we asked for our check, she was busy but cashed us out in a timely manner. I love this place it's my husbands and I's go to day date place.
Big Chow Grill is a great place for get togethers! The ambiance is great for groups and the cheesecake is to die for!
The whole experience was amazing!!! The food of course, the service, everything... Will definitely visit again!!! 😁
The server was great and the food as well
My boyfriend and I were in Smyrna to attend a seminar and I wanted to surprise him with a vegetarian spot. My Google search suggested this restaurant. I'm glad I followed the suggestion,
the food was great. This restaurant reminded me of the old "Chow Baby" that was on Ponce.
My Boo was delighted also because is pallet was tantalized with all of the veggie the selections too. The best part was it was all you can eat!!!
I made reservations thru "Open Table' which was not necessary on our Thursday night visit.
I will go again and will recommend this to everyone!
It took over 40 minutes to bring out the food. And, there were times when we could see that nothing was on the grill. During the wait, the background was noisy and frenetic. The manager on duty did what she could to expedite matters and even gave us a credit on our bill. It’s too bad because the food was good.
Had an amazing time staff is always friendly and food is always great!
Great concept! Designed an awesome stir fry dish myself.
Food was okay....but didn't "wow" me. Having the guests pick their own veggies was fine, however, didn't like the same set up for the raw meats. Didn't seem safe/sanitary.
Restaurant music was way too loud...had to almost scream to have a conversation at the table as a result. Staff was friendly. Convenient spot to go prior to attending an event at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center.
Meeting a friend
We have eaten at Big Chow multiple times in the past and it has been very good but unfortunately our recent experience has caused me to provide a very lackluster review.
Our issues stemmed from the cook staff mixing up the meat in the different bowls and not cooking one of our guests' food until everyone else at the table had received theirs and finished. We even alerted the server to it who really did nothing to escalate the issue with the cook staff to get them to prioritize the bowl.
After multiple positive trips we more than likely won't be eating here again as it seems as though the overall management and service provided has dramatically declined.
I really enjoyed the experience all together. Service could be a bit more expeditious, other than that everything was great.
Food was great and service was exceptional
Food & waiter Pierre was on point!
