Big Bowl-Rosedale Mall Ratings and Reviews
My friend and I love Big Bowl. My friend is gluten sensitive, and also follows a vegan diet, and Big Bowl accommodates both of those constraints. I tend to like spicier food, but not fish sauce, and will eat chicken, but also vegetarian. We both enjoy the build your own stir fry, as it allows us both to get a lot of veggies as well as the sauce choice we prefer and the protein types that suit us and a starch. I get noodles, and she gets rice. I vacillate between tofu and chicken, and usually get either the Szechuan or Kung Pao sauce. I love how beautiful the dish looks, so colorful and fragrant, when it is presented to the table.
They serve an abundance of food dfor your money BUT they taste is Blane and it’s not to many selection for meats. Service wasn’t polite at all..a little bossy to be excavt! When my sister and I went to view how the BIG BOWL was made we were confronted by two waitresses on why we were looking and that we needed to be seated!!! Like we were trespassing on private property...rude and hurtful. We vowed never to go back there
We ordered 5 dishes, two of the five came out incorrectly. They comped one plate but charged for two plates on the other dish that was wrong. I ordered a drink from the bar that didn't come until after our food.
We love the food from Big Bowl, have for more than 10 years, but their customer has continued to go down.
We have dined at Big Bowl a number of times and have usually had a great experience. Food is always great and the service wonderful. I made a reservation through OpenTable for this last visit. One of the guests in my party arrived a bit early and in a half empty restaurant was seated in a booth, in the back of the bar, right next to the restrooms. The constant traffic and the occasional aroma was a turn-off. Will know better next time and insist on a different location.
Food was less than made to order, when asked to do something different for my order,
cooking type of peppers, and sauce choices they said everything is made in the morning... Means its :
(Shipped in ready to heat up) and when asked for a little extra spice it was added but
so much so I woke up hours later from the chilies sauce peppers burning my stomach.
Service was above ordinary, and beer prices a bit too high, NO Happy hour Specials.
Had 3 drinks over 1-1/2 Spent more on drinks than the meal, 40.00 was a bit too much
for a Chinese not custom made dinner, Total.
Fast food court would be 6.95, should have went there instead.
6 Buck beers, pushed me over the going back soon limit, and a 12oz. size.
Cold yes and Fast coming sure.
I don't blame the restaurant for its short comings Its a "Olive Garden" "LaCiasta"
type super corporate type of a McDonalds, not much cooking going on in the back,
just tossing precooked meat with a warm sauce and adding over rice to serve.
I used an e-gift card that showed a balance of $100.00 on my Lettuce Entertain You app. That apparently was an error. I was given only a $75.00 credit and told Big Bowl had had this happen before. I was given number to call. It appears that the card was used for $25.00, however, that never showed up on the account. So when I went to pay the bill, my available balance was in error. The folks at Lettuce Entertain You seem to feel that it is not their job to have accurate information posted on their App. My bad for not remembering it was used once last December. I will very likely not buy any more gift cards from them.....don't need that kind of stress!
Disappointed in the change to what used to be the crispy chicken egg roll and the crab rangoons were quite fishy. Big Bowl used to be my go-to spot when I visited Minnesota but I was severely underwhelmed with most everything this time around. I will say the stir fry was excellent. Lack of options for drinks and mediocre apps will keep me away.
We went to Big Bowl Rosedale without any real planning. We were pleasantly surprised! The Deep-Fried Fish Satay and Chicken Lettuce Wrap appetizers were hot and fresh. My wife had the Mongolian Beef with fried rice, I had the create your own Stir Fry with Shrimp, terayaki sauce and fried rice. The Stir Fry was excellent, but the Mongolian was even better. It had the soy and ginger sauce, and I will order Stir Fry next time with the soy and ginger sauce. We will go back.
We hadn't been to Big Bowl in a long time because they "ticked off" my dinner companion by discontinuing his favorite dessert. Weird, yes...true, yes! Oh well, he agreed to try it again and then remembered how much he used to enjoy the main dishes there. Hmmm, hmmm, good! And gluten free seems to be very well managed and we were not made to feel like 2nd (or 3rd) class diners because I require GF! Some restaurants simply do not given a scintilla of care that they have locked out diners who have Celiac Disease. Not so at Big Bowl. I really appreciated that! We'll be back...and he didn't have room to try their dessert anyway!
We have been here before during a much busier time than Sunday evening, so it was nice to come here with very few people. Our server was not very busy so she gave us excellent service, stopping back often to ask about the meal and refilling our water glasses. The meals were excellent including dishes for my vegetarian son.
For anyone that is like me and feels that the Edina location has gone downhill so much that it isn't worth going back, I'd encourage you to give the Rosedale location a try. I don't know how two seemingly identical restaurants can be so different, but they are. Food is as good as it ever was and service remains friendly. Great experience overall.
My family and I eat here often and love it . On this day the Cantonese ribs we ordered were not as high a quality as they usually are.... the service was ok. We felt rushed by the server...as if to turn her table over faster. Our dining experience today was not as good as it had been on many of our past visits. Thanks
Mothers day can be a little bit of a crap shoot. I know of restaurants that had a lot of challanges, but if the Big Bowl did it didn't show --what a busy place. Our server was super even with several other tables and it appeared that she also kept them all happy. We all (6) had different meals and all commented around the table as to how tasty and good the food was. We also appetized on General Tso's dumplings which are/were really outstanding.
Mc LInda stopped by for a visit and to see how everything was. I noticed that we weren't the only table that she visited -- great PR. The hosts (and Linda)were dressed to go to the prom -- dressed to kill and they always look nice, but today were exceptional.
Thank you, McLinda for the visit. You run a great restaurant!
