About Big Bowl-Reston

There’s really only one place for authentic Chinese and Thai, and that's Big Bowl. It all begins with the highest quality ingredients–naturally raised chicken and beef, heirloom pork, sustainable seafood and produce grown locally. Because Big Bowl believes that the best food is made from scratch, you can taste big, bold layers of flavors in every dish, from the curries right down to the dipping sauces.

Everyone raves about the pad Thai, our spicy dishes that are truly hot, and our create-your-own stir-fry–and for good reason. Every element adds up to big taste and takes our food to another level, be it a fresh squeeze of lime, fragrant herbs or the seared Thai chilies.

Big Bowl is so big on authentic flavors that even the ginger ale is made with fresh ginger root–from scratch, of course.

It was my mother's Birthday and we have come to Big Bowl the past few years with my family. It was extremely disappointing! We had a party of 6 and all of us feel like we got ripped off! Everyone's portions were extremely small and then it did not taste that great on top of it. Luckily our server was good, but more than likely will not be coming back.

Always a good meal for a reasonable price. Love their specialties, the “Bowl” and “Pad Thai”. Service was friendly.

We've been there many times and will continue to go. The service this last trip was way below what we have had there before. I'm sure it was a one-time thing. The guy was not friendly at all and was completely inattentive. For example, we ordered two appetizers and I saw them go in the window. The waiter walked by them not less then four times and never brought them out. We had to ask someone to get them for us. They tasted great and all, it was like pulling teeth to get anything from him. One water refill in the hour we were there. 7 minutes to get soy sauce. If the food wasn't so good, this would have Ben our last trip.

My wife and I go here relatively often but hadn't been in a few months. Our waiter, Milton, remembered us, which was a very nice touch. he also was great when our chicken dish came out Very spicy. (the less spicy dish is excellent). The only mild disappointment was the spare ribs, the rub wasn't great and the barbecue sauce is only so so. The chicken rolls and dumplings were Great. Overall, the food and service here is excellent. I'm sure we'll be back soon.

Plenty of good seating and very good service. Food was okay, nothing special. We had the Pad Thai and Orange Chicken. The Pad Thai was lacking any of the unique spicy taste that we have experienced at other local restaurants. The Orange Chicken was prepared with good pieces of chicken and was appropriately seasoned. The price a bit high for the quality of the food, but overall the experience was good.

20 years ago 3 families met upon being stationed in Japan. As we had an opportunity to meet it only made sense to be an Asian flavored restaurant. The location was the best for all of us. All of the intangibles of the resturant matched our expectations. Food options, price, service, ambiance. ... it turned out to be the perfect location and restaurant. It allowed our casual conversations (afterall, we were catching up on 20 years), the server, sorry I don't remember his name, was awesome. He attention to us without being overbearing or due to the length of time, pushy for us to leave. Those of us in the area will be back - before the next 20 years (maybe next month).

Bigbowl has good ambience and quality food. Sometimes (may be one of few rare days) theh get little messy with services otherwise without concerns Bigbowl is a good family dinner place and highly recommended.

Food is great and surely people will love it.

Food was OK, but not great. The flavors just didn't come across well in the sauces. Teriyaki sauce really lacked. Probably won't go back.

Stir fry bar is nice, food is usually quite good. Darker atmosphere. Also this last time we went there, we saw Dog the Bounty Hunter, with his 4 body guards.

Front desk members can do a bit more in greeting if found a frequent diner come through by reserving a table. Ask what they would like a booth or a table? Also, thank you for being a frequent diner, etc..

Great place for family dinner. Kids meals are very good and I've not had a main entree that I wouldn't want to eat again. Mongolian beef is superb, the curries are excellent. Enjoy Big Bowl!

Came here to celebrate my birthday and had a terrific meal. I love the stir fry bar with the Kung Pao sauce; I thought there was just the right amount, not too much, not too little. My wife got the orange chicken, which was pretty good, although I think it was a little heavy on the sauce. (We'll just add some more rice and chicken to the leftovers.)

I've been here several times before for business lunches and plan to return.

Waitress was fabulous. She has been there a while and takes her time with all of her customers.
The only complaint was the temperature. When we got there I could feel the restaurant was really hot. After voicing my complaints to a waiter, I noticed it started to cool down. I also noticed the side door was opened when we arrived. I am sure the cool air was escaping through that door.

I am a regular at Big Bowl and it used top be amazing place to have Thai food but from last few visits I am feeling that Big Bowl has lost its quality, its like going to any regular make your own bowl restaurant. I was very disappointed, food was bland and had to request sauce but still it didn't came out well.

Will surely give this restaurant a miss for few months.

My only complaint is the drink prices. I ordered a bourbon on the rocks. At first glance I thought the server brought a small glass of ice water but it was bourbon. $12.50 and could hardly taste the bourbon. In my opinion not worth the price. Stick with the food and beer.

After two times dining (lunch & dinner) we have a good but not a great impression.
POSITIVE: ambiance is nice and cozy, service was nice and attentive, appetizers are tasty and plentiful, complimentary cucumber salad that we received at lunch but didn't receive at dinner was yummy, the drinks (Sangria, cocktail and beer) were were very good.
NEGATIVE: The taste of entrees in both visits were very bland and mediocre. The choice of desserts was limited full of fats and calories even from the mere look at the samples and average. The fruity flavors are limited to banana and mango blended somewhere in the cheesecake. Definitely not inspired us to order (even though we did have a room for some sweet ending).
CONCLUSION: Maybe worth to return if in the area for a lunch meal tapas style consisting just appetizers and drinks.

The food is always delicious at Big Bowl - today is was the stir fry bar. Nothing like made to order stir fry! Steaming hot and cooked just right to seal in the flavor. Today's service was exceptional, as well. Scott was attentive, personable and professional - really appreciated the good attitude. His bar and dessert recommendations was on target. Overall a outstanding dining experience. Thanks, BB.

Made a late afternoon reservation for 8 pm, asking we be seated in a booth in the back of the restaurant. Our table was perfect, our waiter was very personable, professional and capable (wish I'd gotten his name), our food was delivered by the Chef and it was served piping hot which I love and it was delicious! We both ordered the make your own stir fry. Fabulous meal! Big Bowl is always consistent in that regard if you get the stir fry. I can't speak to the other items on the menu since we always do stir fry but I'm sure they're good too.

Cool place. Chicken was very undercooked. Sent it back and when it came back it was better but there were still some pieces that weren't much better. The wait staff was very good and friendly. Sesame chicken may just be a weakness of the place.
