Big Bowl-Lincolnshire Ratings and Reviews
In typical “Lettuce” fashion, Big Bowl is predictable but tasty Asian fare. They do have a few clever twists — cauliflower “rice,” vegetarian sauces that typically have a meat base. Our server was attentive and made great recommendations. While you perhaps could seek out authentic Thai or Chinese fairly close by, Big Bowl does not disappoint and has quite a vibrant environment. It is a bit on the expensive side for what you get.
Parking has and still is a menace. They have valet for both restaurants ( big bowl & wildfire) but we needed to catch a movie & were afraid the wait to get your car back might be too long since there was a long line for valet .
Food was delicious and plentiful and once we ordered (a slight delay for service) the food came very quickly.
One thing to note however: if there is a section on OPEN TABLE for a special occasion , why didn’t the restaurant know that? We were there prior to a movie , but we were still celebrating a birthday. Not one mention of it from the restaurant ( it was checked & a special request note as well ). Since we were going to a movie, didn’t want to take the time anymore for us to mention it. This has happened before on an open table reservation. Why bother asking if it’s not acknowledged?
Tried a new dish and it was not quite as expected, much spicier than I thought it would be. Two f the three of us asked for our leftovers to go and found out when we got home that the labels on the boxes were incorrect, so we did not have the correct meals.
Great service and food value! We had a time crunch to make a movie and they got 3 courses complete in a 45 minute time period at very busy dinner hour. The food is always hot and cooked to order. We requested an item that was on the menu several years ago and they were able to make it without any issues. Our 2 servers were great and worked well together. The food was delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Service was good. Location was very busy, loud, and crowded. The food was very salty. My Wife ordered the GF Beef+Broccoli and barely got any ... beef or broccoli. My Mom ordered the same just not GF - and hers was very salty. She asked for extra spice and didn't get any. I ordered the orange chicken and only received a few pieces of chicken. The food wasn't really worthwhile.
I had the wrinkled green bean appetizer. Delicious. It had a kick and is a good sized portion. I've ordered it twice and it is very tasty.
I also had the sweet and sour shrimp. This time I asked for it to be light on pineapple and heavy on peapods. It came as requested. This is the best sweet and sour shrimp I've ever had. Breaded crispy shrimp and plenty of it in the best sauce ever. Everything is so good at Big Bowl, but this is so special, I have to now order it each time I go. Their sangria changes monthly or seasonally and is excellent.
Been here many times. Typically have reservations to avoid any wait. Service is always very good and it this visit was typical. Attentive but not over bearing waitress. Tough to move off of my favorites, so we had orange chicken with brown rice, chicken pad thai and BBQ pork fried rice. They are all outstanding, but not spicy (which is what we prefer).
The drinks are good and the non alcoholic iced hibiscus tea is terrific. If you want, have them mix it with a splash of lemonade for a great Arnold Palmer. We also tried the seasonal pumpkin dessert and it was worth the calories and the whipped cream on top was spectacular!
Overall, a great place, with good food and service and fair prices.
