Biff's Bistro Ratings and Reviews
Ambience = crowded, tables too close together, big, noisy, not much French bistro character.
Service = good (thank you Michael).
Food = 50 / 50, beef bourguignon was good, lamb shank goulash was overcooked, dry.
Wine = good selection of by-the-glass wines, but pricey.
Overall = bit of a "get 'em in and get 'em out" feel, not good value for money, a 6 posing as a 9.
Came to Biff's Bistro for my fiancé's birthday. From the moment we walked into the door, we felt welcomed. The food was fantastic, we shared the Escargots en persillade as an appetizer. The escargot were very tender and the sauce was great as a spread on the grilled focaccia. We had the Moules frites and the Wild mushroom dauphinoise as our entree. The dauphinoise was very creamy and the mushrooms had a meaty texture and a roasted flavour. The mussels in the moules frites were quite tender as well. We even had a surprise from our waitress with cookies and a happy birthday message. Definitely made the night special and we will definitely come back again!
It was our 5 year anniversary and I mentioned that on my reservation and they definitely went above and beyond to make this occasion very memorable. Not only was the food amazing and the service was impeccable but at the end they surprised us with desert (eclair made from scratch) that wasn’t even in the menu anymore. It was served in a wooden platter (wood is the symbol for 5 years of marriage) and a glass of champagne each. We had an amazing time and I definitely recommend Biff’s Bistro to anyone that wants to enjoy great food with great company.
The food was very good, the service was excellent. The price...Easily the most expensive meal I have ever had. ($160 + Tip for 2 of us)
It was good, not sure it was THAT good. but was out for a good night and a good night was had.
P.S. I think it was probably the BEST mushroom soup I have ever tasted.
Had a decent meal, only downside was a side order of mushrooms did not arrive with the meal. After 3 follow ups, I finally gave up and told them to kill the order as it was still unavailable. It then showed up on the bill and I needed to correct it. No offer was made to make up for this error.
I was most impressed with the service. We were late for our reservation due to traffic and road construction. When we called to let the hostess know, she was so understanding. She held our reservation for us, not knowing that we were on the road for 2 hours already. In the end we were only 10 minutes late. As for the food, use of fresh ingredients were evident. Ambience was lively but not too loud for conversing. Servers were polite yet personable. Excellent overall.
This is one of my favourite restaurants in Toronto and it is my favourite O&B restaurant. I have been going to this restaurant for years and I am so glad that the foie gras and Beef Bourguignon is always on the menu. The food is excellent and never a disappointment. It is my choice for special occasion dinners.
It is not for me to say but the three of us gals couldn't really find anything on the menu that appealed to us. They both ordered the trout and didn't finish it. I had a green salad and fries. Every item on the menu had something unappetizing in it thus our choices were few. However the ambiance is great and the service excellent
This is my second time at Biff's, and it gets better each time. I got to try the liver this time, and found it flavourful and mashed potatoes it came with were creamy and perfect. Food here is an experience, and the wait staff perform well above average. I would highly recommend this restaurant for some of the best French cuisine in town.
Ordered the frogs legs and was very disappointed as they were extremely greasy, literally swimming in oil. When relayed this to our server he stated they are like that due to the large quantity of garlic butter they are prepared with. Coating was soggy mess. I've had better frogs legs from a food truck. Disappointed that the server did nothing to make this right.
We had a meal on the patio @ Biff's prior to a concert.
2 of the 4 steaks arrived COLD and not cooked to our liking,
This was rectified but we didn't eat at the same time with our companions.
No compensation was offered.
For a higher end restaurant this is not acceptable.
We will not return.
Our service, however, was excellent by the attentive staff.
The manager should've compensated us for the inconvenience.
We have been here a # of times , now the menu seemed a little tired .only the one special the deep fried zucchini blossoms reminded me of the past creative menu ,now it seems a little too much like a local bistro example Merlot but the price is about 30% higher was it worth it not sure ,it was very nice ,service was good ,early reservation ,after 8 I doubt if the service would hold up ,too few staff to look after " the rush", not the fresh ,innovative menu of the past ,what was "on-line" was the menu except for the one special ,I found that very disconcerting ...is it a real kitchen ??
