Enjoyed the $2.00 oysters to start. Food was OK (not necessarily great) but interesting menu options. Our server was wonderful - knowledgeable about the menu and overall extremely helpful. Interior was nice - classic - bar area seemed like a good spot to head to for after work drinks. Wee bit pricey for what you got.
Ideally located for a show @SonyCentre! Delicious FoirGras poêlé, made in house confit de canard not to salty . Interesting desert.
The only problem we had was the noise. Very noisy and hard to have a conversation with our friends - who also enjoyed their food but could stand the noise level.
First time and will be back again for sure when the patio is open.
When I lived in Toronto from 2001-2007, I "lived" at Biff's. It may remind you of Balthazar or Rue 57 in NYC. Great crowd, professional and prompt service, fun core menu and intriguing specials. On my latest lunch, I ordered the pickerel. Being a Manitoba boy, the item appealed. Given I travel a few months of the year and eat out with frequency, I have to say, the first (and subsequent bites) was the best thing I tasted in three years. Our party of four had a great time. Cheers!
Service great but was disappointed in meal, liver grill marks only one side, ,, rubbery, suggested defrosted then cooked. ,,sorry I know my liver,,,,pricey as well
Menu needs an update
Interiors are tired
Service was terribly slow and interiors tired
Food delivered cold
No Waiter ever returned to the table
Usually o&b restaurants are very consistent
And great food , but tonight was a off night
It took 10 minutes after being seated to be acknowledged by a server , and even after given drink orders, our server came back and told us the bar was backed up and our order will be soon. I know it was pre theatre and restaurant was very full , but after this many years in business, they would be up for this . Our server seemed to be rushed , my wife ordered steak frites , but never asked how she would like her steak , I’ll still return here again but not on a theatre night ,
The Fras Gras was spectacular, melt in your mouth goodness with little maple french toast on the side. I wish there was a little more fras gras, small serving. The soup was wonderfull and rich and the Caesar Salad was perfect with buttry croutons and the best bacon ever. The Beef Berginious remains the best i have ever eaten, should have got it this time.
Everything was great. I took some friends out to celebrate a special occasion and they sent me an email after to say how much they enjoyed our lunch and the food was terrific. Thanks so much for making this a memorable occasion.
Biff's is an excellent restaurant. The food and service is always great. Lots of good items on the menu. I love the steak frites.
I love Biff's. It is my go to restaurant downtown.
Excellent service and great food. Love the $1 oysters.
Fantastic experience. My friend and I stopped by on a Sunday and treated ourselves to the seafood platter and splitting a bottle of wine (1/2 price bottles Sunday!). The food was delicious, good value, and the wait staff was phenomenal. Highly recommend!
Really enjoyed our choices for dinner. My meal was delicious just the right amount for me, but would not have been enough for my husband. I had the Perch. However, my husband's dinner was way too much for him. He had the Steak and fries.
Fantastic as always. Excellent service. Food is delicious.
Awful, just awful! The food, the atmosphere and the service.
Amazing that you’re still in business.
Birthday, great place to celebrate.
For a bistro supposed to be a place for large groups and big events; They were barely able to serve a table of 2 in an almost empty restaurant. Food was so salty I almost pre check my self at the ER for kidney stones. Staff even had a loud verbal fight in front of all clients. Avoid.
Ordered shrimp cocktail. Have never seen anything like it. What arrived was a plate filled with tiny, formerly frozen shrimp in some sort of odd sauce. It was gross. It was sent back. The sole dish with lamb sausage had sausage but virtually no sole. All in all a bad experience despite the restaurant's efforts to make amends by providing a complimentary dessert and only charging 50% for the meal.
Staff at Biff's were very good, service was prompt and the food was excellent. Atmosphere was nice and we enjoyed talking with our server. Always enjoy coming here. J
Never disappointed in over 20 years!
My husband requires a gluten-free meal and they were extremely accommodating and helpful. The only comment I would make is to have a few more gluten-free options as he can essentially only eat a few things on the menu. The gluten-free food was amazing and you’d never know it was gluten- free.
Always a treat. Very good variety on the menu. Service was very well timed. Makes us feel like we’re back in France.
Very slow service even though the restaurant was not too busy.
Our waiter was not attentive at all. I had to go and look for him several times to place orders or make other requests. The food was good. I personally wouldn't go there again. There are many other restaurants with much better service and food.
I and family members have tried this restaurant multiple times and keep wanting to give it another chance because it is in our neighbourhood and the food is quite good. However, after our latest visit, I will not go again. Biff's kitchen is very good, but the structure, training, and practice of their front of house staff mean that the service is too poor for the price point—water glasses go unfilled, silverware does not get changed, servers take forever to return to the table—and this leads to serious issues like the food literally arriving at one's table lukewarm. Even really good food cannot make up for this, particularly if the entree price point is $38 (my latest entree). I do not mind eating at this price point or I would not be there, but not food that is lukewarm. On my last visit, I wondered if the corporation that runs this and many other restaurants may not be willing to invest in enough training and staffing to strongly staff this restaurant in a way that consistently produces service on a par with the food. For e.g. it has not been clear to me on recent visits if they consistently deploy basic high-end service positions like food runners and staff to bus tables, and if they do there are not enough of them on the floor, or they are not trained to use their time expeditiously. Whatever the reasons, I'm sorry to say that I'm giving up on this expensive resto where the mediocre and at times bad service seriously jettisons the entire dining experience.
Poor selection of food
BEEF BOURGUIGNON and DUCK CONFIT. Were good
Pricing above average
Won’t come back
Service is friendly and great good wad ok.. abit pricey for the type of food
The food was mediocre. I guess our expectations were high but it just didn’t deliver. The service was ok.
For the price, there are many other restaurants where you’d get much more value.
Excellent service on a very busy night. We’re in a small room so it was quieter than usual Nice.
Went here for mine and my wife's 3year anniversary. We actually celebrated it at biffs 3 years prior. when i called in to book the hostess told me she will make it very romantic, candle light, the whole nine yards. I get a call the day of to confirm reservation, the hostess says " oh sir it looks like its your anniversary we will make it very special for you" I was very pleased. I get to the restaurant, we eat, everything is fantastic food wise. but no "special" or romantic anything. I was quite displeased especially because 2 separate hostesses promised to make it a very special dinner. this dinner was the same as any dinner I've had there. nothing special about it. server was great food was great, but don't promise me "special" or "romantic" if nothing is going to be done.
It was my first time eating at Biff’s. Renown as a French Bistro I anticipated that the food would be quite good, and it was. Very. However the experience was severely tainted by the waiter my friend and I had. He was over eager to the point of irritating. We had barely gotten to our table and had not taken our coats off yet when our server was there asking if he could get us beverages. We had not had a chance to see a wine list or anything so we just said regular water just so he would leave so we could settle in. Then less than a few minutes later he showed up with the water and is asking if we are ready to order and if we were celebrating a special occasion, to which I said we weren’t; just a dinner get together with a friend. We could tell he was going to be rushing us all night and we didn’t appreciate it. As I had a very similar experince with a server at another O&B restaurant recently, I politely told our server that my friend and I wanted to have a leisurely dinner and catch up and that we would appreciate just settling in for a bit with our drink order before ordering our meal. He seemed notably miffed at that and gave us “pleasant attitude” (passive aggressive) for the remainder of our stay. He even went so far to inquire near the end of our meal WHY my friend and I had not seen each other for so long! Why is that his business? We were so taken aback, but it got worse. When we asked for our bill at the end of our dessert, he said he hoped he wouldn’t see us again for several months. I’m not kidding. He might as well of said I hope to never see two again, same thing. Other unpleasantries occurred, but suffice it to say I would not recommend this restaurant to a friend because the service was so off-putting that even the deliciousness of the meal couldn’t compensate. I don’t know if it’s the training of O&B restaurant staff as the reason for this right-on-top of you, pressurized service, as I had similar experiences before at O&B. Shame.
First time been this restaurant and didn't feel disappointed, services good and food is tasty, definitely will go there again
We went there for Winterlicious. Service was excellent! Poulet grand-mere was great. Fennel sausage wasn’t as good as we expected. The custard tart was a pleasant highlight!!
Food was spot on. Wine was amazing and the overall experience was just lovely.
We went for winterlicious. The menu is outstanding! Best perch dish I have ever eaten. The mushroom salad with truffle oil was delicious too. Everyone loved their choices. Our waiter was fantastic too! Regular menu is excellent as well!
Went for winterlicous. Food was decent, but very small portions. Brought us water in a glass jug then charged 6 dollars for water without telling us it wasn’t free. We didn’t even drink the water. That kind of ruined the whole dinner. Service was quick and friendly but very low value in coming to this restaurant.
I entered the restaurant and the lighting was nice. I had requested in my opentable reservation to have a more private, quiet seating for 2 as I didn't want it to be too loud or too close to others while I was enjoying my meal. When I went to the host, I was ready to be seated. The male was going to seat me, however, a woman with brown hair and her hair half up swooped in and told him "not to do that again". She looked a bit old. I sensed it was the seating. She told him to take me to table 5. (My reservation was at 6:30 pm on Feb 3). I went there and I was seated between 2 tables, 1 a couple and then the other eventually a group of 8 people. This was not what I was expecting as I saw plenty of other 2 toppers that didn't need to be squished around other people. I was not impressed that the lady made this decision despite my request to be in a more quiet and private seating. However, our waiter was super awesome, nice, attentive, and knew his food. He helped me choose my meals and I felt that I didn't have to wait too long. Being squished between 2 tables, I eventually had to raise my voice to hear my friend. She had to as well. My only advice is, if you had the option of putting me in any other seats, and I requested a more private seat, which I saw in the other side of the room (not the booth area), why did you seat me squished between 2 tables, knowing the other table was going to be a group of 8 people shouting?
Bland and overpriced. Steak was cold, fish pie wattery. Maybe they did not want to put an effort for Winterlishes. In any case I am not eating there again.
