Bien Shur - Sandia Resort and Casino Ratings and Reviews
I am a huge fan of this restaurant but the meal we had that night was by far the worst meal I have had in a fine dining restaurant.
I ordered the fresh pasta with shrimp. The pasta was not cooked; very doughy. The broth or sauce was a gray / green color and was less than appetizing to look at much less eat. My husband ordered the lobster bisque and sea bass and was very ill all night . Maybe they have changed chefs; don’t know.
Been here many times. The sea bass is my go to. It was wonderful as always. My girlfriend had the pasta of the day. Noodles a little mushy and ok flavor.
Love the view. Waiter was a rookie but really trying. No issues.
Great bottle of wine
I'll be back to get my sea bass fix :)
Very pricey, amount of food not enough for what you pay for. Ordered Crab cake as an appetizer and paid $15 for a single small piece, I thought it was a ripoff, I was expecting more food for that price. Over all food had a good flavor but probably won’t be coming back.
It has been many years since I dined at Bien Shur. Albuquerque has so few fine dining experiences, and I originally booked Geronimos in Santa Fe. Since it was Christmas, and I was hosting an out-of-town friend, I figured I should give the locals a try. For starters, I asked for a red mulled wine which came 20 minutes into the appetizer and was lukewarm at best, and not very spicy. It tasted like box wine with cinnamon topped and thrown in the microwave for a minute. My friend ordered a Cesare salad, but he complained it tasted nothing like a Cesare salad and was very bland. My panko fried shrimp with sriracha sauce was good, but was common and tasted like a Jinja type preparation. On to the main courses, I ordered the buffalo tenderloin wrapped in bacon medium rare. It was lackluster, not very hot and did not have great flavor, despite the $67 price tag and wrapped in a flimsy piece of bacon. My friend ordered the chicken, which was very basic. We drank one bottle of Pellegrino and did not order any wine, nor were we offered any wine. The best part of the meal was my friend's apple tart with rum raisin ice cream. I asked for the pumpkin mousse to go, and wrapped the leftovers. When I got home, the pumpkin mousse was not in the bag. I called, and left a message, but no one returned my call. We walked out the door paying the bill of $172, with a generous tip, which is disgraceful for the quality of food and level of service. The big red flag was there was no one in the restaurant and I can see why. A wiser choice would have been to eat in the buffet, as the level of food and service would have been identical or better. Our server was very friendly, and passed on our comments to the chef, and she told us the chef makes the salad more bland to accommodate the tastes of a wider audience--clearly a chef with no passion for food as art. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! Michelen star prices at buffet quality presentation and service is not my idea of a good time.
Our experience was good: wonderful ambience, competent waitress, spectacular view. Food was a bit overpriced. My only complaint was that the chef didn't seem to know what Rare Plus was! I ordered my New York steak Rare Plus and it came out medium to medium rare. Sent it back and it came out the same--barely pink in the middle! I ate it anyway, it was a good cut of meat and the flavor was good, but I prefer my steak just a bit the other side of RARE. Hello chef?!
Set atop the 9 story casino building, Bien Shur is elegant, beautifully decorated and meets the criteria for a special occasion destination. The service is professional and attentive, without being intrusive. The cocktail and wine lists provide many choices, and the food was delicious.
Service was excellent, and we had a table with sunset and city lights views. Noise level was tolerable.
Food was ok. They reimbursed us for the lobster bisque which was really bad. They screwed up the veggie order on my husband's turkey dinner, but they brought him a whole new plate so he had plenty to bring home. (The sweet potato or butternut squash replacement wasn't cooked well enough to eat, so he had to microwave at home). I feel bad because our server was fantastic, but I wouldn't recommend this place. Maybe it was because it was a holiday, but it wasn't packed, so not sure what the issue was.
Outstanding. We were seated promptly with our choice of a window table or fireplace. Our server wss helpful but not intrusive. I had the New York strip and it was cooked to perfection. Juicy and tender. The only downside was some gristle. My wife had the pork belly special and pronounced it outstanding.
Bien shur at Sandia Resort has, in addition to the most beautiful, delicious meals, the absolute most breathtaking Southwest view of any dining venue in the area. To watch the sunset on the Sandia Mountains from the 9th floor restaurant is almost a spiritual experience.
My daughter and I had the times of our life. It was her birthday and I hadn't spent time with her in a long time. The waitress that served us made it a very special occasion my daughter won't forget it and I will never forget the time that I spent with my daughter that I love so dearly at the place that we both loved. Everybody was so great. The look on my daughter's face was worth a million dollars thank you guys for the most memorable evening ever
Was a first date, ordered prime rib Rare. Came out medium well. My date decided to wait for my "3 minute" tenderloin (That server talked me into). 10-15 mins later, steak finally arrived.
If I'm eating at a Texas Roadhouse, or something like that, don't expect perfection. But as highly recommended as this restuarant came, would've thought they could at least do rare prime rib right.
The food and the ambiance were top notch. The views are spectacular and the lounge has live music starting at 9PM. There are 2 bars upstairs and they have have a great selection off drinks and food . The service was top notch by the staff. Overall it was a great time and we will be returning
I planned an amazing evening with my girlfriend and it was truly amazing. Our server Adam was nothing short of awesome. He listened that my girlfriend and I were going to share between the two of us and what he did was have the the two dishes split for us. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. My girlfriend and I had such an amazing evening!!
I had a "jumbo" crab cake appetizer which was good, a little dry and crumbly, but tasty, about the normal size (not jumbo). An interesting pre-dressed Bien Shur salad and braised short ribs served with brussel sprouts. The short ribs were very tender and tasty. The service was perfect, right on time and not fussy or intrusive. We had a $48 Concha y Toro chilean cabernet which was very good and was on the low end of the price ranch. For dessert a chocolate/raspberry cake which was good, but average. On the whole, a nice meal, unbelievable view, great service, a a tad pricey overall but the view is worth it.
We were in town for the Balloon Fiesta and wanted a nice dinner. We made reservations but had to change them at the last minute. Bien Shur was very accommodating on a busy weekend and it was appreciated! Food was outstanding, service was equally stellar! It made our vacation that much better. Afterward we enjoyed some gaming at the Sandia Casino downstairs. A great evening!
